back in the 60s and 70s and even 80s cars had so much metal on them all we had was screw on dent puller and hooks. you drilled holes to pull dents and then slapped bondo. now they are so thin we need these spot welders.
Nice videos Tony , I learned body work watching your videos, Im a Member also. I fixed my brother in laws Prius that had dents and scratches all over the car, The body shop wanted to charge him over 2K for the work. Good job

This is the best way to pull out dents! ive tried with glue gun and tabs, and even welded on M5 screws on a volvo rear quarter that had been banged up! (Dont got this machine that you have!) Got my dents out! ;)

@@smithfoxe I figured that you do it reverse, as if you were watching a video of a dent made in rewind, you do have to hammer it still but that’s what I got with doing a few major dents. If you just weld/pull from the deepest point it won’t come all the way out and create mini dents/warps so best bet is to start some places in medium depth of the dent and then on the deepest points l, and then to clean up pull the body lines last. Best I can describe it with what I’ve done so far, but as usual, no help no responses, so I’m sure there are better techniques but get it done however you can I suppose, every dent is different there’s no one way to do all.🤙🏼
Would it be possible for me to send you a couple pics of a dented quarter panel and you let me know if it would be possible to pull out with the weld studs?

So i was using a slide hammer that has a tip that welds on and some guys in a facebook group said to put pressure and to tap the crown instead of ligthly tapping with the slide hammer. Can i send you the video so you can see?
Very informative! Thank you. Hint I use the old 1800s irons that were he heated to iron clothes. I find at flea markets. Would work great for your backing.
I’m using the same gun but the studs keep pulling through the metal creating a small hole. It’s obviously thin metal. I’m worried a mig welder will burn a bigger hole now.
So my brother was backing a trailer up and Jack knifed it and crushed the corner of my bed under the taillight... It's really bad. My question is do I have to get a replacement panel or count I pull in and bomdo it?
Corner of the bed or the fender below the light? Or both? If you crushed the corner of a cardboard box, could you straighten it? The answer is not likely. You must "reverse" the damage in the same way it occurred. When you have multiple pieces of sheet metal coming together, repair may require professionals. Otherwise shop around for a complete back end or panel (as required). Bondo should never be more than 1/4" thick if you want it to last.
Hello i want to paint my car and the paint on it is in good shape, no dents or deep scratches and i was wondering how much i would need to sand it before painting? Would i only need to sand away the clear on the existing paint? Would i need to primer it as well? I was planning on using a single stage acrylic urethane. Any feedback would be great thank you.
you have to sand the clear coat down to paint and then make sure to properly mask the car and clean the paint and all jams and seal the old paint to avoid the chemicals reacting with one another and dry and prime and sand primer with 600-800 check for any inperfections and clean again blow any dust of car or truck and you can repaint with the single stage just make sure your using proper temp reducer good luck
thanks for your time to show us how to get that dent out also how to use bondo can wait for the next part . keep up the good work hope one day I will be able to be good as you i see you are quick and neat 👍👍👍👍....O.G 😎 1042
If it could be done perfectly, you want the hammer to hit at the same time the slide hits. That is why he is trying to hammer very frequently. It is just by chance that with 5 slides, the hammer might be synchronized with the hammer a couple of times - that's when progress is made. It's all about setting up the desired shape.
Great video. Just picked up my stud gun during a HF Tent sale. I have a crease in my rear truck fender, so this is good stuff. Is it not easy to hammer from behind, inside the wheel well, or is this just easier?
I like to spray the bare metal panel first with Primer, so it's sealed, I find the body filler sometimes lifts and starts to rust between filler and metal, I Primer first then put filler on Primer, then sand the Primer again then final paint. Etchit primer, I hate rust.
You must be doing something wrong with your body filler because it is actually recommended that you use body filler on metal only, but puddy can go on primer as long as the surface is scuffed
Buy parts? This is free. Anyway remember also that this is rear quarter on an old-er dodge truck. You pull that hard on some panels or doors and it gives a lot easier.
I don't know because i feel like this is supposed to be something your god father should be teaching you but its wonderful when you're the one teaching a older person though :D

That s not a proper repair first of all you don't grind off medal you cAn use a plastic roll out for that second using stud gun you pull from outside going to the deep spot and you don't hit the slide hammer back so you won't create a high spot points you u just pull one good pull and keep ur hand tight and help hitting the regular hammer around it
I once repaired something like this with just filler. There was like over 2 pounds of filler on it lmao. I did end up looking very good though, guy who bought it didn't even spot it.

How do you stop the weld pins from snaping off the car when dent pulling
This is the best way to pull out dents!
ive tried with glue gun and tabs, and even welded on M5 screws on a volvo rear quarter that had been banged up! (Dont got this machine that you have!)

cool
That machine is excellent, the less filler the better.
How much time between coats?

How do you choose location of where to weld pins?? Are you going on the line or at the lowest point of dent?

Cool tool i have one and i am going to use it tommorow the only con is the studs are very expensive
shoul i remove the battery before using that tool or not?
Using the stud welder won’t affect the electrical system whatsoever. The current is localized to its working area

Question... can I weld two metal shade, one tap over the other with it. Like a spot welders? Thanks
I am not sure what you are asking.
Do you have to grind off all the galvanization (aka zinc coating) on the sheet metal before using the stud welder?
yea you can only weld to bare metal
they make a attachment to stud weld for migs too

Is it better to use the 3mm or 2mm studs?
Just my opinion- I would spread the Bondo at least six inches beyond the damage so it will blend easily.

Why do you hammer when he pulls with the puller? I would like to know what's the theory behind it?
Ronald Almendarez it stiffens the metal so its not left flexible
