I really like how this is shaping up - the train station and especially the covered platform is incredibly stately! One thing I'm noticing that you might want to watch out for is that your designs are getting uber symmetrical. This is pleasing in theoretical design, but it's not necessarily how the final design will end up when it's tested by real life challenges, site problems and other things that come up in the building process. One example of where I think it's getting too symmetrical is the canal - it is very precise and perpendicular to everything else going on. In addition each border of the canal has the exact same treatment, spacing, finish and perfection - when put into the context of a real park, that canal walk may have shifted slightly - there may be plants growing at different rates, there may be rogue foliage that has found its way onto your walls. There could be a 'fix' for something that isn't exactly the same as it was when it was installed. This is what this uber pristine park needs more of - it needs to be less perfect, haha.
+Mike Sheets thank you! I really appreciate the feedback. I completely know what you mean. Right now it's kind of "we are not sure where are park is explicitly going" and a lot of uncertainty of what is going around the building. I completely understand where you are coming from and plan on going back and adjusting lots of things as we figure stuff out. I love the idea of being less "perfect". Cheers friend. I honestly look forward to your feedback!
Say "Canal" one more time.
Canal.
I love how turned out at the end!
Thank you!
Wow that is a great episode, love the train station!
This is absolutely great!
Thanks! I appreciate it!
Should give the other half of the Jubilee Duo a sub too, right? ;) Great stuff guys!
Hahah Cheers! We appreciate it!
I think the platform cover really brings the building back into scale. It felt too tall until you did that...that long horizontal line really helped the proportions. This is by far your best structure yet, Commando! #BroTip: in the future, once you have a coaster, use the track layout to create a custom fountain program...Mike did that for the fountains in front of Peregrine as well as some of the others around the park. Keep up the awesomeness, gents--beautiful stuff happening here!
That is a fantastic idea. Thanks for the #BroTip. I'll probably do that at some point! Thanks for the kind words as well!
thats actually a really great tip. never thought of it.
"Canael." Love it.
+4J25 lol yes my Western New York nasally accent.
Another great episode guys!
Acutally I'm really happy you decided not to build castle #139million but a really great looking train station as some sort of weenie.
I have to admit, at first I was a bit sceptical about platform cover. I was afraid it could cover up too much of the building, but in the end it turned out great and I really like that you didn't hide the actual platform behind or inside the building. One thing though, I'd love to see some more details on that bridge and the canal walls - they look a bit too blank for my taste. But I'm sure you will come up with something beautiful.
Yeah the Canal/bridge is super WIP right now. I, myself, am not sure where to go with it yet.
Thanks for the feedback Adfo! I really appreciate it!
I literally took a look at the thumbnail and subscribed. That tells you something ;)
Haha cheers. What did you think of the build itself?
gorgeous! I doubt you guys have to worry about your next builds being as good as previous ones...all your builds are awesome. I have one nick pick item...screen shot facing the fountain w/beautiful building in background...for me, the lamppost distracts from the pretty building face kinda like its up on a pedestal?????
+FightorFlight Gamer thanks friend! I see what you mean! So, that lamp is actually at the end of the bridge. The perspective of the screenshot makes it look like it's on a pedestal in front of the building! When it is actually on the side of the bridge.
If that is the lamp you are talking about, that is.
This is such a nice station and scenery around it. I really like what you did with the platform and the glass panels. Keep up the good work, this park is so beautiful.
Thanks friend! I appreciate it!
Amazing episode once again guys! The train station is gorgeous, it is a very different style then the entrance and mainstreet, but that isn't a bad thing at all, I think the channel divides the areas just enough to make it work. The canal itself is a bit empty though. Maybe you could add some vines, lilies or something in there to break it up a bit. The foliage around the station is a bit a mess for my liking, maybe you could go in and change it up a bit, putt small groups of various trees more towards the station and then some lower bushes and plants towards the path. Leave some spaces open to view the station and see the Weenie (as you guys talked about in the beginning - the Disney train story) and I think that would work much better. I think N7 did a tutorial for RCT3 about foliage and trees/forest, maybe you could look that up if you can still read it over on SGW.
the way you pronounce "canal" is really cute, haha
Haha my Western New York nasally voice.
Absolutely fantastic build! There's really only one thing i can add that not a lot of people seem to think about. From a point of functionality and realism I always like to keep wheelchair access in mind for my parks. Seeing how the train station (both entrance and exit) is only accessible by stairs this could be a possible improvement.
Oh my gosh, that is actually the kind of critique I am looking for. I actually did think of that when I first started and that completely slipped my mind. I will work on something and I will get back to you with what I come up with. I was actually thinking maybe a "ground level" access tunnel that leads to an elevator. What do you think?
Personally I am a fan of slopes, but my parks are usually 'low budget' style. But even if an elevator is involved there's usually also a back-up slope in case of maintenance. But I guess a tunnel to an elevator/slope of sorts would probably the best solution. Perhaps branching off into the foundation near the railroad bridge. Seeing as the path is already very close to the structure at that point allowing you to maintain the current facade.
Great episode! Love this station. Too bad there isn't a boat ride in the game that would work.
I know! It would be really cool! Even like a guided boat kind of thing!
First the Genessee coaster, and now Wegmans. I know a fellow Rochestarian when I see one.
+Starfire haha you are close! I'll give you a hint. I named my main series after the city. :P
Lovely station, dude! It has a really timeless look. This might be what you guys & n7 are talking about, but I think they literally have (in Paris, as far as I can remember from my last visit) an arcade style corridor running behind the shops with entrances for each store, as well as the large interiors behind multiple facades and links within the shop interiors themselves. I'd never really considered it could act as a thoroughfare for when parades are happening! Imagineers so smart.
Thanks friend! Yeah those imagineers are wonderful people. I really need to book myself a Disney trip next year. It has been so long.
Thnak god for Shoutouts, glad someone told me about you guys. Astonishing work!
Oh! Awesome! Who gave us a shoutout, may I ask? :D
Also thanks for the kind words!
I think fella maskedbandit.Im so glad i dove deeper into the PC community, there are so many insane projects : Koali, Alpine Odyssee, Jubilee, Silver Lake, Brocoaster,...
just so you all know the disney train is through woods
really nice work guys...:)
Thanks friend!
Looks amazing! new to your channel though, but glad i found out :). Btw the trainstation building reminds me of the Back To The Future Courthouse in Hill Valley :), don't you think so?
Ah yes! It is pretty close! If it had those iconic pillars, it would be!
Thanks! :D
Jup I thought so to! :) Keep up the great work :D You can use non copyrighted music from my channel if you want. Just saying #nopromotionalshit ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Thanks! I will keep that in mind! I am always looking for tunes.
wait wait wait wait. WEGMANS? are you from rochester?
+Matthew Shannon close! I live just outside Buffalo. :)
good to see a fellow Western New Yorker! when I subbed to you you had 585 subs, which is also my area code, weird coincidence.
That is hilarious! I hope someone near me is my 716th sub! :D
How did you do the sign? Looks cool!
Ruble Trillions made the sign! Check out MaskedBandit102. He is a god when it comes to signs.
What a beautiful build! Just found this series and so glad that I did
Thank you so much! We appreciate the feedback!
I love how this park looks! I'm also trying to build the Nottingham Victoria Station for my train station, and it's hard to start because of limited reference images!
The train station looks nice
Love how this is coming along.
Is that a wooden coaster painted white i see in the background?
Also - we have Wegman's here in NJ too. I didn't see it in your train station until you said it, but now I can't unsee it, lol.
NJ has a wegmans!? I heard they were finally branching out! Wegmans is like my favorite place. haha. The wooden coaster is Rubles creation. He did the ultra smoothing thing. We are going to find a spot to put it then make an episode about it probably.
We had Wegman's forever. I go there for lunch sometime although the lunch buffet is horribly over priced. Its got everything, pizza bar, sandwich counter, salad bar, they even do a gourmet lunch specials that change daily. Not my first choice to go food shopping at since prices are higher, but the vacuum sealed individual wraped meats are nice when you buy the family packs. It is a super store for sure. In fact, when you were down here, you stayed in Neptune if I'm remembering correctly, Ocean (the next town north) has one on southbound Rt 35.
Very beautifull and realistic!
Seeing this and instantly subbed. You need so much more support, you're both so good!
Thank you so much!
CommandoSanta Just telling the truth...😉
another great build, love this series!
+Boiaz thank you!!
really amazing
Thank you! :D
Oh, a canal. I couldn't figure out what a canale was at first. Really nice building job btw. Subbed.
Hah thanks. I’m trying my best never to use that word again. Lol
stunning, absolutely stunning work on this one
Hey something I'd recommend is making some of the stairs into ramps so that the building is wheelchair accessible
Thanks! Yeah. I for sure forgot about that. We are working on it.
I actually commented that as I watched the episode and then realized like 2 later that you guys brought it up
this is sweet dude
