Also love it when you show piping at real speeds. It's often hard to tell how long this takes in peoples' videos, sets us up for unrealistic comparisons and expectations on how long decorations will take. I'm definitely slower but it makes me feel better that it's not as huge a difference as it can sometimes seem.

2nd like, 1st comment! This cake is perfect for my age 🤣 just entered my twenties. And the cake being gluten free is a big bonus because my brother is cannot eat gluten and wheat 😢 So lucky him!

Happy birthday, goodbye twenties! 🎉❤ You made the right call on the skulls, totally agree with your creative decision, as they did look clunky (a bit). They look better on top, imbedded in frosting 😊

Dairy free! Love that. How did the buttercream taste? I've made a dairy free chai buttercream before and it definitely tasted good but the chai flavor could have overpowered any "different" taste.

how did you color the icing? Does it get all over peoples teeth/make mouth black? Or did you use the black cocoa?

If I decorate a cake with a basic buttercream 1-2 days before the cake is to be delivered/eaten, Will the cake (crumbcoated) be ok in the fridge for 48h? Google is no help at all, all I find is people arguing. Do I need to put clingfilm on the crumbcoated cake in the fridge?

Do you have to chill the cake in between piping styles? Like does the ruffle need to harden before you pipe the shells on top of the ruffle?

Hey! Total cake rookie- but I’m making this for my hubby’s 30th this weekend! About how much frosting do I need to make? I did a batch today and I have 3 tiers of cake currently freezing but I’m realizing I’m going to need a LOT more frosting. How much should I make?

Love that!!! I’ve never made a 3 tiered cake so I honestly can’t say haha sorry! I would guess you’d need at least one batch per tier, but it depends what size they are !

I know this will be to late to help with your husband's cake. But I found a very helpful post on Pinterest that tells how much frosting to make to cover all different sizes of cake. Just remember if you're going to "tort" the cake and an extra third to what you need. Better to have too much than not enough.
