Dear Mr. Hoskins, I am sorry I could never tell you just how much your role in Who Framed Roger Rabbit? meant to me, how much joy it brought to a lonely 13 year old girl who was stuck in a bad situation, how much hope and joy it brought to that girl and how she treasured that movie. I never had the chance to say it to you, never had the chance to let you know what that movie--and the role you played in it--meant to me. That chance is gone now. All I can say now is, thank you. From the depth of my heart, thank you. You will be sorely missed and never forgotten.
I need to say those are the some beautiful words and I hope he would be proud of us by just enjoying the film....im sure be would be missed but not forgotten This movie was my childhood ((I know cliche)) and it would be forever the best film I even seen
We were investigating a robbery at the First National Bank of Toontown. Back in those days, me and Teddy liked working Toontown, thought it was a lot of laughs. Anyway, this guy got away with a zillion simoleons. We trailed him to a little dive down on Yukster Street. We went in. Only he got the drop on us, literally. Dropped a piano on us from fifteen stories. Broke my arm, Teddy never made it. I never did find out who that guy was. All I remember was him standing over me laughing, with those burning red eyes, and that high, squeaky voice. He disappeared into Toontown after that.
That begs the question of how Roger Rabbit got the finger pointed at him. If it had anything to do with Eddie Valiant's snoop job, then I may as well shut my mouth to avoid spoiling anything else.
A couple of nights ago I had this dream about Eddie Valiant. Somehow I wounded up around the cloverleaf train station after taking a walk around Los Angeles. I made my way into the bar abnd there was Eddie, sitting on a stool. I then went closer and said "Hey Eddie!" He turns around with the happiest expression on his face and says "Hey man whats up!" and gives me a hug. I asked how he was doing and he delightfully shared how much of a better place he was in after that mess with Judge Doom and Roger. Dolores then walks up and serves him a drink, smiling at how friendlier he became. We sat there and talked about how he was living some more, then I get up and say "It was such an honor meeting you Eddie, thanks." and he replies "Thank you kid, I had a great time talking to you." and smiles. Such a pleasant dream, it gave me a wonderful feeling to see Mr. Valiant smiling and laughing :)
I'm very sad to hear that Bob Hoskins passed away. When I was 7 years old back in 1989, my aunt bought me this movie on VHS and it was the very first movie I ever owned. Thank you for a great childhood memory Mr. Hoskins, you will be missed. Rest in peace.
I watched this again yesterday for the first time in years. When he saw his bother's desk and pictures and got sad. I knew it was going to happen. Even as a 17 year old boy I could not stop crying.
Here is what should have been written on his tombstone: "Here lies Eddie Valiant: Toon Detective and the first of a breed of Animation Cruasder. "Here's to the pencil pushers. May they all get lead poisoning, huh?" #RIPBobHoskins Godspeed. :(
+PsychobillyStompin' My brother and I have drifted apart throughout the years. However this makes me think of him and me when we were both young and unconcerned.
RIP - RICHARD WILLIAMS 1933-2019 He's gone by cancer in August 16 this year. I will missed his works since he doen with my favorite movie even the accompished animations of the Pink Panther live action movies. He made a great life within the greats of animators even artists. He'll meet the others whom did that movie. May he rest in piece, amen.
Can't believe I last commented on this a year ago, and now coming back to this, I can happily say I bought the soundtrack to this...unopened and on vinyl. It sounds SO NICE on a record player. Was possibly the best $10 I've spent in a long time. :D
The animator for this film, Richard Williams, passed away today. Time to whip out my vinyl and play this one for him like I did for Hoskins. I love this movie too much.
R.I.P Bob Hoskins, this film you were in not only spark a small interests in old detective stories since childhood but you were the most fun guy as Eddie, Mario and Smee. You will be miss.
Hearing this song without the movie I just picture him looking at pictures from the past smiling and then seeing him and his late brother and then looking up....
Thank you Bob Hoskins for the colourful childhood memories I have of this magic and marvellous film. I'll forever associate this charming and bittersweet piece with you
This song makes me want to cry (at least the beginning does). So beautiful. Such a great song. And an amazing movie! R.I.P. Bob Hoskins, you are well missed. :(

whenever i rewatch this movie with someone and this moment is approaching, i go out with any reason, cause i can't keep tears inside when Eddie leafs photos to that one with his brother and his face changes. Probably one on the most dramatic scenes I've ever seen.
00:00-2:04 ... I like all the soundtrack of this film but this is the best piece of trumpet that i have ever hear in all my life. I love this piece from i was a child. Thank you for uploading this.
Just hearing this makes me want to look back into my family photo albums and reminisce. So many wonderful memories with this song in the late 80's-early 90's...I would watch this movie non stop at a kid and not have a clue on the sexual innuendos in the movie.
ahhhh this osng bring back the old time of mine when I was young....watching this movie with mah friend and brothers......thank you for uploading this my friend
It's good to know that this movie and Bob Hoskins character made in impact on us in a positive way. Rest in peace Eddie Valiant. You were a good detective and a great man.
Never tell me animation isn't as legitimate as other types of entertainment because films like this and soundtracks like this are fucking stellar and have amazingly talented people working behind them.

I can’t believe it’s been ten years. Rest in peace, and fly high Bob Hoskins, you were part of one of the most important movies to me, and the joy and… well… laughter, you’ve brought to everyone will never be forgotten.

This song is a longing for days gone by for me. A song of remembrance. To happier times...
This isn't a song. It is like a film score selection.
You know, I'm something of a nostalgist myself.
A deep, aching longing that doesn't even quite have a name. Here's to those days.
At least the Valiant brothers are reunited. R.I.P Bob Hoskins.
*locks up the office of Valiant & Valiant* Goodbye, Eddie.... 😞
*i put my hand on your shoulder* it's not a goodbye, it's just a see you later, come on...the toons needs us

That's quite the dream. I've always wondered what would happen to Eddie and friends after the movie and a happy ending like this one of them.
Here's hoping that drink was non-alcoholic
That’s very sweet. It’s nice to see what characters still have an impact on us
