- Watch Part 1: • How To UPGRADE SPLATRB... | In this video series, I show how to upgrade the Splatrball gearbox to all-metal gears with a stronger spring. The main purpose of this upgrade is to replace the plastic gears that strip and break easily. A gel blaster that doesn't fire and makes a high-pitched whining noise has stripped its gears, usually the motor pinion gear strips the bevel gear. The gears need to be replaced. There are no plastic replacement gears that match the original gears, particularly the unusual dimensioned piston plunger. The plastic gears would eventually strip again anyways. So upgrading to the metal gears will repair the gearbox, and increase the durability of the blaster.

Testing a 120 spring and it definitely rips hard but needs tonst of maintenance

Really informative videos, I knew nothing about this before watching! One question, I want to make my Splatrball blasters quieter, do you have any recommendations on how I could do that? I have read about putting a damper on the piston head, but I'm not sure how to do it/how effective it would be...
I haven't tried reducing the noise, because I've also read that the resultsfrom the damper piston heads are not worth the cost/effort, and can introduce other issues. Adding foam around the gearbox will probably have a better noise reduction.
is there any certain hopups that your would recommend for the srb400? also could you make i video about how to put the hopup on and some tests

My sector delay chip is the one from cults 3d the blue one and the first one that you see when you search it up, but now my feeding is inconsistent, does it really change if my delay chip is different? Can I have the link or file to the chip you used?

Looks like this video could work on the pulsar hydro strike.
It may be even easier because the Pulsar Pro uses a more standard gearbox

Does it work if i use 11.1v battery with normal plastic gears and then once they stop working switch them to metal gears?
Yes
They should build it as one whole replaceable piece.. Simply old parts out slot a whole unit in one go maybe?
Hello engineerable, I'm looking forward to upgrading the battery to 11.1v battery, and I've heard that it breaks your gun, is it possible I can change just the gears or can you please list down the pieces that would be best to replace to metal, I'm on a budget and only want to change what is needed in the gun, good video.

Could i change the gear ratio from 18:1 to something crazy like 32:1 in exchange for a heavier spring like an m140?
with the change in gear ratio it will stilll fit in the gearbox the same right?
And will the stock motor be under to much stress with this change?
I think the motor won't be able to handle it. Also, the battery would also be drained way faster.
@@EM_Ind I got the stuff for it, I’ll reply to you again to tell you how it goes, I’m probably gonna hook up a 3s lipo to it so i don’t think the battery will be an issue.

Only if you upgrade the gears to metal, and even then, you may need to upgrade the motor and gearbox.

should have used a 11.1 lipo battery connected to deans for faster rate of fire
That will be next, but tbh, I don't care much for higher rate of fire. Just wasted more ammo. Also, I think that the tappet will need to be changed, and the motor may burn out more quickly.
Can you do a video upgrading the motor and other stuff to support a 11.1 battery and to mabye handle 12:1
tbh, I'm going to use a whole new metal gearbox to do that. This plastic one reaches its limit with this mod.

Yo my sector delay chip got ripped up when using it in 20 shots full auto. Where is the best place to by 3d chip that won’t get damaged and what type of plastic? Could I possibly use metal 3d chip?
@@PxckFlxpper16 was it 3D printed? Needs to be a tough material, like at least ABS. You can buy sector chips for airsoft and modify them as needed.

@@engineerable okay thank you but I’m inspired by you videos and I read your whole page from the link you just sent me. I’ve done everything you did just need to find a delay chip 3d printed online from someone who has 3xvery strong material.
Do you know what type of motor I can upgrade that’s higher in torque since the stock one is 480 size idk what type of upgrade I would want that’s better then stock. Which one would you put in to replace the Stock?
Shouldn't the nozzle go past the feed tube in the t piece? It seems to stop short just before loading the next ball to be fired. But that's just an observation without the piece being on. Just seems short for some reason
I need to check, but normally, the nozzle tip only contacts and seals off against the other side of the feed tube, so it doesn't travel completely past it.
@@engineerable I rechecked the video, it looks like when you fire in semi auto that the nozzle isn't completely forward. I'm not sure why splatter ball put a delay Notch into their selector gear. The one I stripped on my lightening blaster is just a round tab. You'd figure the tappet plate is designed for the gels, why would you need an elongated pin? Seems like that would only be necessary for an air soft tappet plate to convert it

Motor will be fine for a while. When it does burn out, replace it too

No, you don't need to upgrade to use better, harder ammo. Harder ammo will improve the accuracy

@@engineerable my trigger on one I purchased is noticeably harder to fire than the others. Would trimming the spring in the trigger reduce the tension? Also any way to increase the shooting power of it? Good way to mount a beam/site that won’t destroy my friends eyes?

You need all the parts. The stock plunger is not compatible with the metal gears.

I'm sure this has been asked before but could someone simply buy a full metal gearbox and plunger assembly rather than taking apart their gearbox?
I know that's not the most affordable way to hit that kind of performance, but my first srb400 broke after about 100k rounds through it or so. I bought another so I can still shoot at my homies, but I'm trying to think of the best course of action for the broken one I still have. Worst case scenario I have extra accessories and magazines now.
100k+ rounds is probably pretty good for stock Splatrball gearbox life. Yes, swapping out with a metal gearbox is better than trying to mod the plastic one. A metal airsoft gearbox will still require some minor mods. I'm working on a video of doing that.

The gearbox looks exactly like a v2 or v3 gearbox
It looks like a V3 airsoft gearbox, but the diameter of the piston body tracks is different and really Fs things up.
