There are ways to go about things and before someone goes accusing someone of something, they better be damned well sure they can prove their accusation. IMO, that hotel manager should be fired. He CLEARLY overstepped the boundary of his job. He could've put that hotel on the hook for a major lawsuit. He'd be out right along with her.

Her phone was found in a cab, where she left it, and she still is blaming others for her absent mindedness, claiming that the teenager returned it to the hotel after she left. The most obvious conclusion is that this woman is clearly a person who refuses to take responsibility for her own actions and will make all the excuses in the world to cover for bad behaviors.
She never actually apologized and complains that the father and son weren't really that upset because she later saw them eating in a restaurant? Are you kidding me? Upset people don't eat at a restaurant? People who are not from that area and are staying at a hotel? Where then are they supposed to eat?
My understanding is that her phone was returned when the father and son were still on the premises. That is, they did not have time to run out, put her phone in a cab, and tell the cab to return it to her. As I write that, it sounds so ridiculous.
Where was she on Jan 6th? Because what you just described fits the description of the typical Trumpo extremist perfectly.

This one time my phone went missing in a restaurant and an entire family of black people were at the next table.....know how it turned out? After looking around my table, seeing if I left it in the bathroom and checking my pockets like 37 times I finally learned the truth about where my phone went......it was in my car....I panicked while checking my pockets 37 times, but you know what I didn't do?.....scream at random people and accuse them of s**t.

I think her interview was extremely telling. She wasn't apologetic, she felt no remorse and admitted no fault, she was entitled and dismissive and rude, and that didn't help her, it confirms to me that this wasn't a moment of overreacting and acting stupid in a panic and acting on an unconscious bias (still in no way excusable, by the way), she's just a shitty, entitled person. I feel like someone with any conscience or humility would at least show some remorse, admit they were wrong and that they do have a racial bias and did something racist and need to change... she can't even do that, she's convinced herself she wasn't in the wrong, she's so narcissistic and self centered she likely won't learn anything from this.

This right here is why I think they should have used a mental health defense. If she isn't already diagnosed with something have her see a physiatrist train her before hand and get her diagnosed with anxiety disorders and fits of psychosis when under immense distress.
If they took this route she could have easily played for sympathy and got it because there are real people like this and who's to say she isn't? After all like you pointed out even the case on the phone didn't snap her back into reality that it wasn't hers.
Just to be clear not saying this path is morally right but her lawyer is really awful for having her go on media tours and bury herself further when she could have just played the mental illness card.

They are comparable. EVERY citizen is innocent until PROVEN guilty (at least that is how this country claims it works). So, the burden of proving a theft is on her (or Wal-Mart by comparison). The kid (or Wal-Mart customer) should be under no obligation to show anything (either a phone or receipt) until there is actual evidence provided that they have done something wrong.

It's a very good thing the father was there. Now imagine if he wasn't there and that kid ran to get away from her. It's clear to see the hotel manager was taking her side, and this situation could have turned out badly for that son if the father wasn't there.

I think Cenk touched on something very important here that almost played like a footnote in the video. I'm a white woman married to a black man. I have the unique ability to see the fricking zillion things like this he deals with from miniscule to huge on a regular basis. And to get drawn in if I'm with him. Or not if I'm alone. My treatment is very different as alone white woman than it is as woman married to black man. And that attitude that Cenk mentioned? I lost my phone while on vacation in Florida. Guess what I did? I used find my iPhone. It locks the phone and puts the number and email to contact ALONG WITH a message on screen saying the phone is lost/stolen! As soon as I did that, a random person nearby dropped it off at a random hotel because they couldn’t use it anymore! I went and picked it right up. Simple.

He absolutely does not have the right to try to take the minor's property from him to inspect it and decide if its stolen or not. General I find that people will turn to the more agreeable party to solve the issue. She's crazy and they a calm. It's easy to go over to the calm people and try and end the problem.

Yea I don’t agree with her. There needs to be a standard of evidence for a hate crime resulting in huge consequences though and that’s what a lot of these people aren’t getting. But if she tackled the kid I’d be in favor for some kind of punishment

As much as I appreciate your sentiment, your assessment that the hotel should be responsible is misguided (IMHO), because what had happened had nothing to do with the policies of said hotel.
If not the sole responsibility, then at least the primary responsibility should fall on the hotel manager, who negligently dismissed his responsibility to look after his guests and instead had taken sides against said hotel guests.
If there is any responsibility on the hotel's part, it should only be considered as a secondary issue, because the manager was working for said hotel. (Yes I understand that the manager in his role was representing the hotel), but as I initially stated, he went beyond hotel policy and unilaterally decided to have his hotel guest be subjected to unfounded accusations.
