Interesting design. All that extra mechanism on each side sliding up and down seems to do nothing. There are so many degrees of freedom the front boggies do not affect the rear boggies through that mechanism. I also suspect it will take a lot of power to turn, since it is a skid steer design.
Correct. The linkages are only held to restrict certain DOFs. However, the corner wheels could be turned with a servo programmed to follow an Ackerman mechanism.
The cost would depend on the material, the fabrication process and improvisation you want to include in your project. I had to only buy the motors and the other material was found in my garage.
