The Golden Age of the Roman Empire ended with the reign of Emperor Commodus (180-192 AD) and the subsequent civil war: Commodus's reign Commodus was the son of Marcus Aurelius, and became emperor after his father's death in 180 AD. Commodus was incompetent and decadent, and his reign broke with the tradition of adoptive successors. Civil war After Commodus's assassination in 192 AD, a civil war broke out as various people attempted to take control of Rome. The empire never fully recovered from this event. Other factors that contributed to the decline of the Roman Empire include: Political instability Frequent assassinations Lack of consistent leadership Weakening of the Senate's influence Rise of autocratic rule Corruption Economic hardship
The most dangerous thred were the rise of the huns. They forced the germanic tribes to leave theyr established countries so they just go west. Theyr journey goes up to actual Tunesia and Libya over Algeria and Marocco. So ... so many germanic tribes were driven to go west and conquer those territories. The whole mediteranean region has German tribes ancestors. Only later, about after year 600 AD a lot of territory was gained by the Ottomans. After about 1000 years later finaly the christians gain theyr territory back. Nowaday another thread is on the way ... the aggressive takeover of european lands by muslims. Either we stand up for a christian EU, or be will obey the musslims. Never trust terrorist mindset, wherever you may live. TY
