@@lululock How much you paid for it? I have it as an working laptop and I have the chance to buy it as it's out of warranty, I didn't receive yet a price.
You did such an excellent review of this laptop, Lisa. Thank you. This machine is still currently my favorite, despite its age. Your videos are divine. Keep up the great work! I'm a loyal fan!
Thank you for this review. Im on a budget and am thinking of buying a used ThinkPad. My current one in from Lenovo too and the lifespan is good (it is 8 yo now). I think I've made a decision now. 😃 Oh, does it have any problems with overheating?
This review has been so helpful. Thank you! Your knowledge surpasses most techs I know and I know a few good ones. I have ordered my first Thinkpad and I am very excited to receive it in a few days. Have a blast in Japan and be safe!
Finally a purchase affirming review! Thanks for this video, I picked out my Thinkpad Yoga 370 based on reviews you had for other Thinkpads, and I really like it. I chose a Yoga vs. getting a 12.9" iPad Pro so I could use the full suite of Microsoft Office apps which were just too limited on the iPad. I've been very happy with it thus far, very fast and lightweight. I leave my T570 chained to it's docking station and take my Yoga 370 around the office for note taking in OneNote and it's a great mobility solution. Plenty of power in a small package configured with an i5, 8GB, 256GB m.2 PCIe SSD.
Really nice review, just found one used as an replacement for my X220 T which is still working but getting a little old and you really showed everything that matters!
Just bought one of these pre-owned from eBay for USD $137.99. According to this review and the description on the eBay listing, this will probably still be a great convertible Windows Laptab. The only thing I don't like about it so far is that it doesn't have the option of adding an internal optical drive. Manufacturers have been slowly moving away from including optical drives on new laptops, like smartphone manufacturers have done with sd cards. When a feature like that is taken away, especially when alot of people still use them, it's almost like a feature downgrade from previous models, but the price point either stays the same, or it's higher.
Could you compare Thinkpad X1 Yoga (2nd gen 2017) and Thinkpad Yoga 370? X1 Yoga is slightly heavier and 14 inch instead of Yoga 370 13 inch. How about the build quality, robustness, performance, display, etc. between these two?
ive been waiting for this review! i have a yoga 260 at the moment, the lowest end model, but im thinking i might get the 370 if there are any sales over the next few months. thanks for the great review anyway
zebble ganubi hey how was your experience with 260 I need to use basically for ms office I travel a lot hence need something light , is the key board too small for typing
Guillermo F Seiei Just the way companies work. An RFP goes out then they make a decision. It's not necessarily a decision based on the best product. Most likely it's the best deal they can get with an option to take them all back after 3 years to trade them in for upgrades.
I am currently deciding between this and the yoga 720 13 inch. They're basically in the same price range, with the 720 (i7 8550u, 8gb ram, 512gb ssd) and the 370 (i7 7500u, 16gb, 512gb ssd) for about 1099 euros each. Any thoughts on this decision? I want to use it to write along during lectures and for basic 3d modeling.
Lisa, thanks for the review. I know it's old but I'm considering buying a second-hand option. Would it be sufficient for a modest Premiere Pro and After Effects jobs? Photoshop works fine even on my old x230 Thinkpad but video editing is clumsy. So, I'm looking for upgrade.
Need advice please. Yes it's 2019 and i'm going for X1 Yoga 2nd gen (finally). Compared to 370.. which i should go? I need for hardcore photoshop (graphic design), light video editing (premiere) and for digital paint (a must). I like X1 yoga and 370 ports (for external monitor), built in pen, and sd + sim card slot. Thank you for reply.
Hi Lisa, Great Review! I’ve been looking for a WWAN LTE capable Yoga. However, I just tried to purchase one these through LENOVO’s USA website and rep said that LTE is not available for Thinkpad Yoga 370. Can you please clarify if LTE is available for us in the U.S.? Thanks!
Hi and thanks for all your great videos. I desperately need to replace my old windows laptop and need one with a very good trackpad and speakers. Obviously the Macbook products fulfil those needs but at a price! Do any of the Windows laptops come up to the same standards for trackpad and speakers in your opinion?
Well, if you think about the wacom equivalent, which is pretty much the only competitor, yeah its a reasonable price. Laptop size screen pen digitizers arent cheap.
Thank you for the inside details toward the end. May i ask a question, on the 370 spec., beside m.2 ssd slot, it also said can support the hdd 2.5 SATA III. Can tell me where the interface for that? Thank you so much!
I got the 14 inch Best Buy thinkpad model (i5, 8gb, 256, no usb c) for 750 with the student discount, don’t think I could justify almost paying double. Love the 14 inch version though and all thinkpads I think are great
Really been awaiting this review. Lisa, is the build quality worse than T/X series? You did not mention mil-spec this time. I have noticed there is only regular warranty, not the 3 year on-site.
Its is possible to upgrade to LTE-A after purchase? I guess installing the modem won't be a problem, but I ignore how hard installing the antennas might be. Also, would it be possible to buy the modem separately on the future if needed, and would it be cheaper?
Great review but that note taking palm rejection concerns me because that is the only reason I want a touch screen--note taking and deriving math. May I request a note taking benchmark? Could you copy down 1 or 2 lines of complex math equations with subscrips and superscripts on OneNote with a rule line on? Pen lag starts showing most when you write something quickly with a lot of small sharp-curvature turns like math symbols and some foreign language characters. This kind of benchmark will tell a lot. Thanks for the awesome reviews!
Hi Lisa, great video as always. When do you think the 45W laptop 8th gen CPUs will be released. I'm looking to buy a new laptop but it isn't out yet. Should I wait?
It's too bad they didn't use the new Intel 8th-gen low-power Quad-Core CPUs (8250U and 8550U). They seem like a good improvement (going from 2/4 core/thread to 4/8) and are shipping in some Dells already.
I just bought one (yeah, that's almost vintage computing): is there a way to have the middle click be done with *two* fingers? I could only set it up with three in Windows' settings and that really bothers me since it's two on my other ultrabook
@@Felipe-is3xi Yep. Finally made my mind and got my device 13 days ago. Unfortunately, my honeymoon with this device was very sort. Started noticing issues with touchscreen from day two. Touch would randomly stop working and reactivate. It will specially fail after idle. I ignore if the problem occured after system updates, or it was already failing at day one (did not really use the touch screen a lot on the first two days). HID screen was hidden on device manager when touchscreen off. Would be labelled "disconnected". (edit: two days ago touchscreen totally went off to never reactivate again, and all wacom applications say that my system does not support touch) I have updated bios and drivers. Also check all power management options and USB power management options. Along with HID options regarding permits to the system to manage device shutdown for power saving. I finally reinstalled Windows just to find out it has not solve the problem. Worst of all, now that I am looking at google, touchscreen failure seems to be a very common issue, and not yet resolved! Think I´m sending this back!! As I see the issue is spread all through Windows devices, like HP and others, but is specially common on lenovo! This is really not aceptable!
Never managed to solve the issue. Got in touch with technical support of Lenovo, they tried to solve it via remote, but could not, so they issued a DOA certificate (dead on arrival), with it, I was able to return the device even if my two weeks return time period had expired. I got my money back, (it took some weeks), and in the meantime bought a new device. (exactly same model). The device was problematic, but customer service was very good. Though their proceedings were time consuming. I could save some time by making the purchase of the second device before having had my initial device money returned. Also, I had bought the initial device with a temporal discount on the official site, so in the second device, though i paid more, they agreed to offer me a "match price", again, i had to wait for the actual partial devolution to be done on my account, but Lenovo´s attitude was always positive. I also got a 5% extra discount on the match priced, for the troubled (again, it took some time to actually get the partial refund on my account). As i had bought my device with Microsoft office 365 for a year, and did so also in my second device, even though I returned my initial device and got a full moneyback, Microsoft did not cancel my subscription, and it simply added an second year to my account. So that was another positive feedback on top of the 5% discount! Still, to have this issues on a Thinkpad, was unthinkable when IBM owe it. The actual frame of the first laptop screen had a slight missalingment from day one, which bothered me, but I never thought it would present an actual issue (it did). I guess the screen had a physical defect on assembly, but I am not sure, it might still have been a software issue. The remote assistant I got from Lenovo did not check half of the things I did before declaring it DOA! They did not seem to have the expertise i had imagine, still, though Lenovo could not solve the issue, they at least offer a solution. Any how, so far so god with the new device. I notice a slight missalignment on the fingerprint hardware, but it has not translated into nonfunctioning. This things don´t happen with Apple devices (I´, not an Apple fan, but one has to admit that Apple devices simply do what they are suppose to, in a beautiful manner). Also, I wish I had bought the Win 10 Pro, instead of the Home version. I did not found the Win 10 Pro selling points/extra features useful for my use, but I now know of a feature they don´t really publicise, but I wish I had... the possibility to "postpone" installation of windows updates. The Home version is very limited in this sense, and due to the existing possibility that my screen issues were the result of a conflicting Win update, is a big handycap not being able to control downloads and installments of win updates. (edit) PS: I bought my device in Spain. Lenovo outsource´s its distribution through one exlcusive authorised distributor here, and they also outsource their technical support to another company, and their main logistic and technical centre is in Germany. That is one of the reasons for it to take so long between the point they agree to a solution to any risen issue, and the actual execution and implementation of it, delaying the actual resolution!
i dont think theres a whole lot to compare. the x1 yoga is a 14 inch, full keyboard, while the 370 is a 13 inch with some smaller keys, and has lift and lock instead of the wave lock. and yea upgradable ram. they seem pretty much the same apart from that.
I hope that it actually looks as black in real life as it does in the video I miss the old really dark ThinkPad aesthetic, I never liked the new grayish colour it sucks the laptop just looks dirty
great review as always; I am a bit fan of lenovo and have been watching your reviews for a while. Given that lenovo seems to have discontinued the P40 Yoga (that is, no P41 in the horizon), I sense this will provide a suitable replacement. would you agree? I like the 1440p resolution of the P40, but at 13 inches, I think 1080 should be enough. and the Quadro M500M was barely more powerful than integrated graphics, so I figure the seventh gen integrated graphics might outperformed the Quadro (typing this from my work-issued Yoga 370; besides the extra cramped space vs the P40, I am liking it).
6:06 I ordered mine last week and got it today (a few hours before this video!) and I also didn't got the ethernet dongle which I did expect... So it seems like Lenovo is doing something wrong with packing them...
I checked at Lenovo's website for my country (note: I ordered mine elsewhere) and these are the options: i.imgur.com/73doebb.png No adapter at all is not one of the options, yet I got nothing. Oh well, ordered a 3rd party multifunctional usb-c thingy anyway. Has all those things in one package (except native ethernet).
My only issue is how the battery does not age well after a few years. I am hoping the process of ordering one online and installing it wont be too difficult/expensive.
Yoga 370 owner here (i7 variant). If you think about buying one, bear in mind that the fan is very, and I mean very loud! Not only that, but the fan also kicks in almost every time I plug the charger in - at full speed, of course. Don't know if I have a bad unit or something, but this seems to be a trend here in Germany (german Lenovo Forum is full of reports about the fan)
I have x1 yoga 2nd gen with i7 7500u in it. I dont really have issues with the fan noise (maybe i'm used to this noise level). But it's quite usual to have loud fans if you have a processor with higher frequency in a such small laptop like this.
But the fan shouldn't kick in when I'm charging, opening Firefox or the file explorer (this happens to me on a regular basis), regardless of the processor
Jonas I didn't experience that. Maybe you should try to upgrade the bios with the program on the lenovo support website. In one version they claimed that they have solved the problem with the fans.
Charging a battery generates heat. Is the fan still at full speed when fully charged, plugged and idle ? Also have you check bios setting ? my x220t have an options for the behavior of the fan when plugged or unplugged.
Thank you, Lisa, excellent review as always! I wonder if it's possible to install a 42mm SSD in the WWAN slot? Of course, 512GB 42mm M.2 SSDs are crazy expensive now, but I always like having the OS on a separate disk if possible, and a little more disk space never hurts. I wonder if it's possible to install a Samsung 960 Pro NVMe SSD in the 2280 slot? I've found M.2 keying is different between some NVMe disks. Now if Lenovo would put them on sale for... Say... $400 off the retail price, I'd definitely go for it. One last thing: in regards to the viewing angles (not that it matters, because there's no way to change it, but) I wonder if they are limited by the plastic covering over the display, or if the panel itself limits the angles? It is strange that an IPS display would have lower-than-usual viewing angles.
Lenovo please make a 2 in 1 with 16gb, 4k pen pressure and a dedicated GPU that doesnt suck. Great in both Zbrush and 3D Studio Max please! I want a Wacom Studio Pro 16" alternative
Mark O looking at the way Lenovo has s,owly been raising prices, but giving less cpu and gpu power in return, I'd say if Lenovo makes what you want it will end up being more expensive then the wacom :-)
So I can rest my hand heavily on the screen for hours when doing art. It's a popular thing for artists to do, so you don't get problems from occasional palm rejection misses. Also, that way palm grease doesn't get on the screen.
Actual key size is too small. It makes the typing experience a nightmare, no matter how good the actual key mechanism is. I wish they would have made the keyboard larger, using all of the available space, and reducing the gap between keys!
Thanks for the review! It would be useful to measure the battery life not by the display brightness percentage (which depends on how the manufacturer has designed their brightness curve) but a given absolute display brightness -- something reasonable that any device should be able to achieve.
why put an ethernet port that nobody uses anyway and then supply a dongle??!... adding an additional USB / Thunderbolt 3 port instead would've been a better idea in my opinion. USB ethernet dongle is the same size
The mini-ethernet port is here because there is not enough space for a full size., but it still provide native ethernet which allows wake-on-lan, and use the PC MAC adresse, instead of the MAC adresse of the USB dongle. Native ethernet is maybe not a big deal for consumers, but its valuable for business, and its a thinkpad after all.
Joseph, your Dell E7270 has a standard size ethernet port that is most commonly used worldwide, unlike the micro ethernet in this Thinkpad that almost nobody uses. You then need an adapter anyway. I also enjoy having an ethernet jack on my Thinkpad dock. So my reasoning was rather simple. Why not just put a universal port for various devices as there aren't too many ports on this laptop, but as Arzolt stated, having a MAC address tied to a machine is important in some business environments. This is hardly of use for a regular home user and a USB-C would be a better option any day for that. I should also add that it's pretty difficult for me to see this laptop as a business machine as it's feature set could comfortably suit some creative professionals who also desire the durability and ergonomics of a Thinkpad.
Arzolt - correct - when away, especially at a business conference at a place such as Vegas where there are usually several going on at once, the wireless gets bogged down and Ethernet seems to work better/faster.

(edit)
PS: I bought my device in Spain.
Very good review 👏
I wish you did a direct comparison with the X1 Yoga, it seems pretty much the same to me (although I don't think it has upgradable RAM?).
i dont think theres a whole lot to compare. the x1 yoga is a 14 inch, full keyboard, while the 370 is a 13 inch with some smaller keys, and has lift and lock instead of the wave lock. and yea upgradable ram. they seem pretty much the same apart from that.
Don’t forget the OLED option on the x1
is there any review of Yoga L380 ?
What Mic is that you're wearing there, Lisa? Thanks! Long time subscriber here...
It's a Sony wireless mic for use with their dSLR cameras.
Yes, I'd say this is a good alternative, other than no dedicated graphics option (as you noted, the dGPU options are pretty weak in this size anyhow).
thanks for the reply, and best wishes on your trip to Japan.

I ordered mine last week and got it today (a few hours before this video!) and I also didn't got the ethernet dongle which I did expect... So it seems like Lenovo is doing something wrong with packing them...
Thanks for that input. I have a feeling it's actually sold separately.
Bought mine in South Africa and got the Ethernet and USB C to VGA adapter in the box. Could be a market thing
I checked at Lenovo's website for my country (note: I ordered mine elsewhere) and these are the options: i.imgur.com/73doebb.png
No adapter at all is not one of the options, yet I got nothing. Oh well, ordered a 3rd party multifunctional usb-c thingy anyway. Has all those things in one package (except native ethernet).
Does it work well with Lenovo's Active Pen 2?
My only issue is how the battery does not age well after a few years. I am hoping the process of ordering one online and installing it wont be too difficult/expensive.
These are on lenovo outlet for $540+.. I'm on the fence on a 8gb 256ssd i5 7300u.. for $650. Man oh man what should I do?
Yoga 370 owner here (i7 variant). If you think about buying one, bear in mind that the fan is very, and I mean very loud! Not only that, but the fan also kicks in almost every time I plug the charger in - at full speed, of course. Don't know if I have a bad unit or something, but this seems to be a trend here in Germany (german Lenovo Forum is full of reports about the fan)
I think it really maybe the i7. I have an X230 with an i7 and it exhibit same behavior.
The only thing I like about this model is the 13.3" display. The rest of it? Meh.
Hoping next year's Surface Pro model goes up to 13.3".
Have you ever dropped these on the floor when standing and reviewing them? If so I'd love to see that blooper reel.
FLOODOFSINS - she has dropped one on a table before and states it is tough.
Dr. donna Walter please provide link
FLOODOFSINS - I believe it was the review she did on the ThinkPad Yoga X1 Carbon.
Wow I didn't expect there's a sim slot for this unit.
Could you do a review on the Lenovo ideapad 320
this woman really loves thinkpad
Whats up with the EVE V stuff? Is it still coming or what?
Yes, their founder tells me it's still coming. They've been doing some minor changes to the unit and are holding off on sending out units until done.
That's great, thank you.
What about the Yoga 720 15? Quad-Core i7, 1050, up to 24Gb of RAM, large-ish battery, 15.6 inch 4k IPS display, Wacom AES-digitizer.
Still waiting for the Thinkpad P71 review
Help me 370 or L380? Both yoga, Pleaseeee
I still have this and my screen flickera every 15 second cant seem to figure it out
I can't use the "@" key, please help.
please review X380 and L380
Is there a way to get a 1 TB drive into this thing?
Kenny Schiff you could chang the ssd for one terrabite ssd but you will have to research wich fits
I thought this Yoga 370 had a 4k screen. Guess not. :P Still worth considering if stylus use is important + tablet use.
Please review yoga X380
Can it run Mac OS 14
Is it heavy?
Nope , abt 1430g
Love your info and style. But TBH for the size of your channel, the camera work can be a lot better.
I'd still rather get a Zenbook Pro with an external drawing pad though.
Comes with a PWM display :-( . Returned mine...Thinkpad should offer better displays
thinkpad's are great but the price is a littlebit high
Does anyone here have one? How does it fare with adobe premiere?
Why the ninja glove?
Julian Herzog she usually tests them around 150 nits of brightness
Can I use this as a student laptop
No you cannot. You must wait to get a job first.
@@Kiev-in-3-days 🤣🤣🤣
yes i recently purchased mine, very good
@@Kiev-in-3-days it's like used and cheap
Hey lisa could you review chuwi surbook?
Love thinkpads, but why do they still have so huge edges on display? And price... Come on!
It's a pity that Lenovo's pricing department it's run by crooks.
why put an ethernet port that nobody uses anyway and then supply a dongle??!... adding an additional USB / Thunderbolt 3 port instead would've been a better idea in my opinion. USB ethernet dongle is the same size
The mini-ethernet port is here because there is not enough space for a full size., but it still provide native ethernet which allows wake-on-lan, and use the PC MAC adresse, instead of the MAC adresse of the USB dongle.
Native ethernet is maybe not a big deal for consumers, but its valuable for business, and its a thinkpad after all.
sounds like a fair reason. Thank you for the answer!
I still use my Ethernet port in my Dell Latitude E7270. Not for business I might add, because I'm 16.
The only thing i don't like is the red thing on the keyboard and the brand logo.
I want them to make a new yoga book :(
Es3iya Well, a Yoga Book more powerful than an atom at least
Im from future and this thinkpads are cheap and good comparison price / specs
Nah! uh! here in PH Sadly i canvased em' out
Think pad or Specter x360 better??
If you like using the little red nub - then pick the lenovo (i'd pick it too!). If not, then the spectre because of the touchpad.
Lmao imo I hate the nub, but to each their own.
Cool
Poor audio on this but we get the gist.
These ThinkPads would be a lot more portable if they GOT RID OF THE BEZELS!!
anyone install hackintosh on this machine?
LENOVO LEGION Y720!!! please
It's coming! Have it in house.
Wouldn't hurt it to pack a 150mx
