      You are not alone - Wikipedia says "When Peter Gzowski of CBC's national radio program Morningside asked Canadians to pick an alternate national anthem, "Northwest Passage" was the overwhelming choice of his listeners."
      Excellent sound and photography here - thanks, Ministry for posting.

      @Aldo Steel This would be a great song for the new Wexit Nation as Ontario and Quebec think they are in their own universe anyway. And it was the Western provinces and Yukon that truly made Canada.

      @The Number1 No, it's also about Kelsey and the HBC in the 1600s and about MacKenzie in the 1700s, and it's about every individual's personal quest of discovery. Great song.

    Stan Rogers was one of the finest singer-songwriters of the 20th century. His tragic death at 33 robbed us of 40 or 50 more years of great music. Thanks for sharing one of my favorite songs of his!

    Great job on the lyrics. I recently found Stan Rogers and looked into the history described in the lyrics. I can’t help but cry when I listen to this song, after learning about the many failed expeditions in search of a Northwest Passage between the North Pacific and Atlantic Ocean’s via the waters of Northern Canada.
    The tragic deaths of John Franklin’s men of HMS Erebus and Terror are really interesting. Lady Franklin’s Lament(aka Lord Franklin) is another great folk song detailing John Franklin’s expedition narrated through the eyes of a sailor assumed to be involved in search efforts.
    R.I.P. Stan Rogers and all of those who died in Arctic Expeditions of the 18th and 19th centuries

      @attackmaster519 3 роки тому +1

      There's a wonderful mini-series on it, called The Terror. It's not 100 percent historically accurate, and takes a supernatural twist on the events of the failed Expedition, but it's still wonderful.

    This is my families tripping song. We going for a nearly 2 hour road trip. Expect to hear this song being sung by one girl and two guys a couple of times. My sister doesn't sing this one much. Little bros are too little to sing it. Big bro and dad sing the solos. And mom sometimes joins in. Over all we love this song and very up lifting on long trips. Very beautiful, in my opinion.
