To weld or not weld, is indeed the question. Nice..... Looks a lot better than the last time I saw it. BTW forgot to say that the locator bolt that was in the alloy housing had the end broken off........ Looking forward to the engine
@GeoffCroker loving the videos. Regarding the gear lever rust pitting. Might be worth considering use heatshrink on the shaft.. it would give a great finish and it’s rubbery nature will help protect it for years of wear and tear.. plus easy to clean ;)
João Cardoso - A saying that I respect is - "That a man who makes no mistakes, makes nothing." The dry humour and the odd mistake are what gives this channel character. Keep it up GC.
Same Silas, My picture was from about 6 years ago so I decided to change it to the eagle cause Merica. I change the name because I plan to do some restoration videos and Doughboy didn't seem right.
Hi mate, great video series! But watching this gearbox rebuild has scared the sh..t out of me. I just bought a 1976 series 3 and I thought I'd attempt a restoration. If I could do it half as good as what you have I'll be stoked :)
New subscriber from South Africa. Great videos, I was laughing out loud when the spring launched the cup over the room, I usually use alot of very ugly swear words when that happens😬
There’s no need, Land Rover engines require mandatory rebuilding. Toyota’s occasionally need an oil change. I say this having had a corolla with 400,000 km that I drove with a blown head gasket for 9 months. 😊
Markal makes some lacquer paint sticks that would fill in the shift pattern nicely. I've used them for the lettering on pistols and carb levers and have had great wear resistance.
I just looked for one of your vids a couple of hours ago because the yt. Bell thing is dicking me around. Nothing then. Now I see there are 2 new ones. Yay.
For what is quite basic transmission it surprising how awkward they can be work on :-) Think I would of been inclined go with a slickshift kit, not cheap but does make big difference in shift quality .
Geoffrey... If I may... a quick question about your Rustoleum paint.... Im also using rattle cans from Rustoleum, slightly different in that's the "Stops Rust Enamel range"... it takes at least a month too sure... is that also your experience?

The housing was my original one. One day someone will end up with the one you sent me, and curse a broken bolt. Haha.
This is legit my favourite channel. The spring clip suspense was real.
haha, the spring suspense... we all know it!
I simply can't get enough of this channel! Well done!

These videos are immensely entertaining
Not many people man up to their mistakes. Even fewer show theirs flying off. Respect hahaha
Thanks Joao. 99% of my mistakes don't make the edit 😉

It's great to see a New Zealand perspective on a restoration
Darkening the video for the squint was a great touch HAHA
About bloody time Geoff.
I reckon
The eye of the T̶i̶g̶e̶r̶ Land Rover is coming along nicely. Looking forward to seeing the finished product. Regards, Silas
Have you changed your name? Or just the picture? Or is this a different Silas?
Same Silas, My picture was from about 6 years ago so I decided to change it to the eagle cause Merica. I change the name because I plan to do some restoration videos and Doughboy didn't seem right.
Really enjoy watching your videos, your to funny man. I'm not that much in to cars. But figured I can learn a couple of things or two. Thank you

I've missed you!
I've missed you too Stevo
Geoffrey Croker don't run away again for so long 😂
He back
When you get time, based on what I have seen, you could easily make some of those lock tabs.
Markal makes some lacquer paint sticks that would fill in the shift pattern nicely. I've used them for the lettering on pistols and carb levers and have had great wear resistance.
Cheers. I'll check it out.
I love your sense of humor. LOL
Great project a lot to do to finish.
Keep the LR restoration vids coming buddy from an ex REME Pomm :)
Love this channel...
Thanks Justin
Fantastic videos... In NZ as well, Need to know where in NZ you can get parts for the Series 2A
"Eehhmmm.. Ehhhmmm.. PING!" Heh. Circlip roulette. Fun times!

Excelente
you can feed the gear stick through a piece of rubber tube to stop it vibrating
It looks like the gearshift knob will just pop off at the most in opportune time?
How about a dab of locktite that'll keep em from coming undone!
"Smooth like sandy butter". Love the Australian humour....... :) Another great video.
Did you forget the locating grub screw which engages with the slot in the ball?
Electrical heat shrink tube does a good job on gear levers - smooth, even finish and doesn't chip or scratch like paint.

angry guy didn't show up..... i am a tad disappointed.
Oh, is the music automatically muted by UA-cam retroactively?
I was just wondering the exact same thing. UA-cam used to note that though, I thought?
Did u not need to attach the small grub screw
Well, now we can really start shifting gears. Realistic gears shifting. Not those import 32 gear shifters.
Where do you order your spareparts?
"Ahh... Moron." hahahah ded!
Part 3!!!!!
why did you paint the bearing surface of that lever?
Easier than not painting it
How to find Part 2?
How dare you releasing a only 5 minute video lenght?
first!
Damn it. I wanna be first!
@@GeoffreyCroker next time for sure!
