- On a 2019 sunny May afternoon, the Taw & Torridge Battery Electric Group and the Two Moors Group, both of the 16mm Narrow Gauge Modellers Association, get together for a session on Pete Chandler's 'Princely-Summerton Railway'.
This video is one of the last to include the late Jim Wild, who sadly passed away in September 2019*. Jim's 'Colonel Bloodnok' is very much in evidence cycling around the line, and I do hope that Jim's widow Pat will allow us to repeat that fond remembrance by way of Cln. B's energetic peddling from time to time, of Jim's devotion to the hobby, and his great contribution to the enjoyment of our 'Two Moors' Group's steamups. RIP Jim.
*The very last video to include Jim Wild, shot in August 2019, and featuring his gorgeous newly built 7/8ths loco, can be seen here:

What a wonderful time inside the foliage and a trains to enjoy to boot!
Best retirement scene ever! Thx! From the USA
Couldn't agree more!
Lovely to see my Dad (Jim) so happy with all his train mates :o)
Hi Sara.
Your dad was an inspiration and an absolute joy being with. He can never be replaced. Sadly we lost two of our mates in the course of just one year, dear Jim and Paul Cambridge.
Great layout
Thanks Rob. The layout has changed a bit since this video was made - simplified mainly. As one gets older and less able to balance on dwarf walling to attend to any unwanted outcome, the business of maintenance demands an easier life. But we enjoy the meetings held beside the line just as much. I've addressed the scenic changeover by introducing the alternative funfair feature. It keeps us amused😉. Pete
How beautiful, love it all!
So glad you like it. We enjoy being very much in a world of our own when we get together on these occasions.
Excellent layout, looked like a great day, that little chap pedalling is brilliant the grandchildren would love that can you buy them ?
The late Jim Wild's cycling 'Colonel Bloodnok' was a D. Porter toy from McDonald's which Jim motorised. So, I'm afraid, the answer is no, he's not available in the way you see it here. Glad you enjoyed the video though.
Pete
i am happy to see this video. nice track
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it. It was a glorious day. Pete.
What a brilliant layout!I like your integration of track and vegetation,is it astro turf that you have used? also what scale are the vehicle's you have there?I wish my layout could be that good!
Thanks Ian. The 'grass' is just artificial from the local garden centre, which I bought in 1 metre squares (cheaper if you don't need a whole roll). The road vehicles are 1:18 scale which is near enough to my 1:19 scale railway, and in any case there are none at 1:19 that I know of.
@@equalife thanks for the information Pete, you have an inspirational layout to which level I hope to aspire to,my layout is at the construction stage so no video yet!
What is the gauge of the track?
It's 32mm...the same as '0' gauge, but it represents 2 foot narrow gauge in 16mm to 1ft scale.
@@equalife Cheers. I have installed 45mm peco so I can run gauge 1 as well. The trouble is finding companies to supply rolling stock in 16mm on 45mm lines. I am making steam locos in 16mm to fit the wider gauge. I we t for the wider rails for stability.
