Very useful and easy to understand demonstration. This man beats some of the so-called tv 'personalities' by a mile. Thanks a million for posting this.
This has to be one of the best videos in UA-cam one this subject. Definitely the most professional I have seen so far. Thank you so much for teaching us, sir!!
finally, an introduction that's not, "So I started doing this 3 days ago and I thought I'd make video with misinformation". Thanks for sharing what you've learned throughout your life.
I had difficulty understanding how to remount the cam chain tensioner on my Freewind, but you gave me the knowledge to go ahead. Thanks a lot for the video!
The over turning forces talked about here are only present at start-up and shut down. Inertia greatly reduces the influence of these forces at speed (rpm) and stiction is easily overcome at just a few RPM, valve/cam action becomes much more linear The chain is never being pushed after start-up it is only pulled and that includes deceleration. Think about pushing your car, it's much harder to get it moving than it is to keep it moving.
Hi sir just had a complete rebuild on my crf250r but ever since I've had trouble when I'm in fourth gear. Bike starts to rattle n shake feels like cam chain loose and rattling. I was wondering wat the best way to diagnose if this is beacause of cam chain. All the mechanics around here are useless n it's constantly costing me money to find no problems. Everything u Ve described in ur videos is what I'm experiencing
My bike is a 01 only has 14k miles on it at about 12ki started noticing a rattling noise coming from the bike happens around 4.5k people say it's the cct but do they really give out that early? One morning i noticed clear fluid leaking out from the front should i replace the cam chain or the tensioner i have no clue
Read the Manual first! All the KTMs coming from production have no issues - why is that? I had to learn the hard way too: The KTM hydraulic tensioner has no issues if it is mounted following the instructions of the KTM-Workshop manual. It is vital to "activate" the overlaying ratchet mechanism properly to keep sufficient chain tension without oil pressure. If you don´t do this the ratchet doesnt work (like in your video) and can be pushed back. With the proper installation i had no issues in 5 years Enduro. This occasionally includes the motor is pushed reverse, when you get stalled in a steep uphill. Never ever any issues. After a Motor revision we failed proper installation. The first uphill stall and steering chain jumped over. Valves blocked the Motor, so i did not try to start it and pushed home, did the correct procedure and as a result - no issues. I propose to follow official instructions and benefit from a perfect control on chain tension regardless of wear and motor temperature.
would that say that if the chain is not fastened correctly the valves are not correctly indstilled more. Can these things incur? if that is the case`? The valves may begin and tick? The engine can start and use oil?
hmm in my opinion still the manual one is the best! both hydraulic and "automatic" is kinda maintenance free solution, if we see symptoms of wearing out we just swap them (kinda expensive solution)
Well damn you seem to know what you're talking about. I figured next you were gona say" so I built one myself that will never wear out" but you didn't. Oil well!

Just another viewer wanting to say "THAN YOU" for your time and video.
Excellent explanation, Gave me a better understanding how the newer CCTs work. I

Bullshit...

Hi Dave, I think this noise is due to a slack cam chain/ tensioner (Aprilia use a hydraulic tensioner). I would greatly appreciate your opinion.
Manual adjustable is the way to go you just have to keep an eye on it every so often ..it wont ever retract

Would it be alright to put stp oil treatment + stop leak in my 2000 Honda foreman 450s
Hi sir, what is the dial/gauge that is above the valves?
Thanks in advance
Very good video. Thank you, sir.
do they make manual ones for a ktm 250xcf?
Thank you very much for your video. I love smart people.
This is an awesome information.. looks like manual would be the best, regardless the extra maintenance
do you have these for newer KTMs? 2016 500 EXC?
Yes, the DJH1100OR fits
great video that explains a lot for me!!
Thank you very much for this video! :-) I learned quite a lot! :-)

Sorry to bother Sir ...How tight should the timing chain be
Please watch this video, as it should cover your question. ua-cam.com/video/56WhyUxGMhE/v-deo.html
DJHCycleSport thank you sir it helped alot
Let me see you loosen the bolt on the 1st cam tensioner.
I needed a friggn Grenade to get that thing loose !
Decided to buy one 2.20 into the video
nice explanation..this explains how technology develops from a old simple mechanism.. by: mastermind zenith-ram
