    In the manga, before Vash and Knives, there was another child (plant) on the ship and the last crew(not Rem) experimented with it, that child was dismembered. Knives saw this in one of the rooms and after that he became afraid of people. He wants to kill all people because he is afraid of them. Sorry for my english and punctuation, maybe mistakes

      Thanks for info, oregu! Always good to get an idea of how the manga does things vs what we see in the anime series.

    The ending in the manga is basically the same, plus things better explained, vash an knives are evolved forms of the plants used by humans to power up their ships, thus they possess great energy and power beyond human capabilities but just like the plants on the ships their energy has a limit, in the end vash uses almost all his energy to negate knives energy leaving them both with just enough energy to stay alive like normal humans without any special powers

      That’s a good ending both would probably still be incredible gun slingers etc due to experience but it takes away the threat of their destructive powers

    Awesome reaction! Not many channels out there who've reacted to Trigun possibly due to the odd pacing of the show but I'm glad you two gave it a shot and a fair rating overall. You've got my sub, looking forward to your future reacts!

    Legato wasn't tired of being Knives' puppet, dying was his ultimate service/sign of his devotion to Knives. In the manga Vash goes through several different(but all awesome) coats because, unlike the anime, they do tend to get shot up. The music for Trigun was by Tsuneo Imahori who was in Yoko Kanno's band, The Seatbelts, and they did all the music for Cowboy Bebop. Definitely watch Trigun: Badlands Rumble, it is a ton of fun.

    The manga had an epic battle between Vash and Knives, almost to the point where it was difficult to tell what was happening because everything was on such a grand scale. It's been about a decade since I read it, but it was so much better.

      @@BlakeandJeff I'm not sure. I am not a fan of remakes with only a couple exceptions them being Scarface 1983 and the thing 1983? I saw a brief part of a reaction video but, could not continue because the reactor had not seen the original series & his personality was obnoxious. The only animes that are good? My brother in Christ, are you aware of Cowboy Bebop, Paranoia Agent, FLCL, Gantz, Hellsing, Wolf's Rain, I mean the list is extensive. Trigun is mid at best. It was awesome in 1998 when it aired, but looking at it with fresh eyes, it's only okay, and like, 60% filler. The score and the english dub were the best parts about this glorified Jesus Christ allegory.

    In chapter 14 we see how some elders created a green place without using ancient technology i think you guys forgot about that episode (it's pretty forgettable).
    I don't think it's necessary to shoot him again (remember he only sees humans as bad but Vash as a "butterfly"), during the battle we can see Knives avoiding shooting Vash in the head because it's harder to shoot your own brother in the head than nuke it, that's why Vash left his gun, Knives without it is much less dangerous, remember he only killed 2 people, the captain and the blood relative with Rem and at least from my point of view I think this series is in favor of nurture, while Vash was all the time by rem's side, knives cut his hair by himself, he came up with a plan to get rid of Steve, in which it ended up with a crew member killing Steve and the other woman and in the end that man blamed knives for what happened, later when he saw the captain expelling him from the ship, he learned from that too. He was only 1 year old when all this happened.
    and even more in favor of nurtute we have woolfwood who lived all his life killing and at the end he understood why and how Vash did things that way (without killing anyone) and at the end he changes his mind "I take many people' lives, all that time believing that there was no other way, once you stop to think about it there are many ways to save everyone". if he could change his mind, someone who did not hesitate to kill and did so believing it was justified, I think knives could too. and as Meryl says "when we are all born, were any of us made to steal or caused others harm?"
    In the rest I agree, there are many gung ho guns that appeared for a very short time, among other things that could have been better but for a series with one season and 25 episodes it is fine.

      haven't watched it yet, but look at all this guy's 'corrections'.....whoo boy...what am I in for, lol?

    • @BlakeandJeff
      @BlakeandJeff  3 роки тому +1

      I don't take them as corrections, just suggestions of things to think about from someone who has seen and processed the material that puts things in a different light. I love that we have people with different viewpoints on our videos and that by and large our viewers are really trying to help us understand the material the way they do. It's really great and helpful. As we've sat with it since recording I believe we would have more to say about many other aspects of the series but this was our initial reaction to this episode and I'm comfortable with it. I understand Tatos point about the nature vs. nurture argument and it has merit. To my mind there's no doubt about the two sides being represented in Vash and Knives but the real question is can you overcome your nature and Wolfwood could show that its possible. Unless you believe Wolfwood was, at heart, always a good person who went down the wrong path early so it was inevitable that he would come back to the light. Knives COULD be such a person, as well, but that remains to be seen. I think if he let go of the anger fueling him over all of these years then he can do it, especially with Vash by his side.

    • @shawnboyce1663
      @shawnboyce1663 2 роки тому +1

      26 episodes. MILLIONS KNIVES only killed 2 people? I guess all the people in cold sleep who blew up on the ship don't count & attempted murder (genocide) doesn't either. As far as nature vs nurture, Rem didn't give him enough attention so being a plant sociopath is excusable. I was thinking about getting a Tattoo of millions Knives and Makoto Shishio (when I was 20 years younger) but, now think it's about as cool as having anime decals on your car. Why does having a cartoon character on your car give you a nitrous boost for the Tokyo drift 🤔

    A solid 3 stars and 3.5 😑 now that's sad to hear about one of my favorite animes. I have watched many and I mean may animes. The moralistic ways of Vashs idealism and the fight between good and even was superbly represented. The qoutes at the end of the show were amazing as well. This was a great mix of humor, action, drama, and the story was pretty well thought out regardless of the "what coulda or woulda" thoughts of anyone's opinions. A very well made anime especially for it's time and you guys are watching this animation that was made 23 years ago. Very very disappointing on the ratings. People in this world are loving Cowboy Beebop (which wasn't bad) and Jojos bizarre adventure. It's just absurd to me to see peoples emotions run high and get so hype over very odd shows, when this deserves so much more. Action fighting animes, with blood, gore, and mindless fighting, seems to be held above something that has actual value. It's an anime that should sway the way people should think and consider to think in one's own life's endeavors. I feel a lot of people miss the points made in this animation. 1 out of 5...5 all the way. No other way about it in my humble opinion. I just wonder if people would rate One peice even better 🤢 I just don't get it. Then again, in these times, people have no true moralistic understanding so, I can understand what would be held in high regards and what wouldn't...it is a real shame. 😔💔

      3.5 is fair. The anime had a hard time finding its place since the manga was still in production while the anime was being made. Writes had to do their own thing, and wrapping up a 197 chapter manga in 26 episodes with a finale is not easy. I thought Trigun fantastic until I read the manga. The manga made the anime look almost bad by comparison, plot wise. If you haven't read it, do it.
      Point is, trying to write a plot that makes sense when the source material is unfinished is extremely challenging. Same thing happened with FMA 2003.

    the Gung-Ho Guns numbers WERE necessary.....each one has a different mutilation and a different motivation. Even if some repeat or overlap....there's strength in repetition just as in literature/story-telling in general, because....reader dumb. The Guns are supposed to show you DIFFERENT ways that humans are manipulated, controlled, turned into something INHUMAN....a weapon...to use against Vash. What's more, is in all these different deformed fucked up people is the inevitable interaction WITH VASH, and how he might attempt to neutralize and even save them. That situation ultimately leads to each of their conclusions, where they are done in by their fear of Knives, of their own internal demons, or by another agent of Knives if not Knives himself. Each one builds the climax. Monev and Dominque are spared and actually show human innocence and fear.....they are executed by Midvalley and E.G. Mine. E.G. Mine is more sadistic, but single-minded, and easily executed by Radei....Radei shows genuine human traits.......but is executed by Wolfwood (our first clue about his connection to Knives). Hopperhead the Gauntlet is truly deformed and maniacal, but justifies it by his admission to be horrified by what Vash is capable of. Grey the Ninelives has no true backstory...we merely know he is a human brain encased in a massive android. Leonov the Puppetmaster is utterly devoted to Knives much like Legato is....you see the ones with the greatest powers and devotion last until the end...he seems to lack much empathy or humanity. Zazie the Beast is another change of escalating pace....he represents some bizarre sense of resentment or vulnerability....simple revenge or an urge to survive....caught up in Knives' game. The struggle he has with himself before Wolfwood kills him is important! Chapel is another one....meant to essentially echo Nicholas D Wolfwood's struggle with the horror of humanity against the horror of Knives. Caine the Longshot and Midvalley are the simplest punctuation of a final expression - Knives is too horrible to resist...they are simple humans caught up in a game among 'superior breeds'...they kill themselves to avoid retribution. Nicholas is the most human and had actual human leverage as a means to getting involved in all this. Legato is, of course, the penultimate example of a man who's been utterly manipulated by a force beyond his control and thus, in his breaking, become utterly devoted to him as though he were a god. Eight Gung-Ho Guns would not have sufficed.

    This is one of my favorite animes, but to be honest, I would have given it a 2.5 stars maybe a 3 but skipping some of the filler because damn, there was way too much filler.
    I think 8 episodes is way too little but twelve or fifteen could work, you need some of the "filler" to establish the personality of the characters.
    Out of the excessive filler, the things that the anime does always made sense to mee, the Gunho guns never really stood a chance against Vash, that's why they were defeated so quickly, Legato is an amazing villain, he died smiling knowing that his death would send Vash to a pit of despair, but he is the only one that could have actually defeated Vash so you couldn't make them fight every other episode, obviously Vash, a real pacifist, knives with his logic, (you can't save both the butterfly and the spider) yeah its cliche but back then I had never heard about it, and Woolfwood specially his last moments when he didn't go with the classic "im ready to die" crap.
    Nice reaction guys.
