- I challenged myself to use one single coil guitar (Fender American Stratocaster) and one plugin (NeuralDSP Archetype Rabea) to make a song with low gain, high gain, and (fake) synth. This instrumental is the result!

This was a different challenge than what I’m used to. Instead of using a humbucker-equipped guitar for the high gain tones, I wanted to try and roll back the tone knob and use a different amp model than what I’m used to. How did it turn out?
The NeuralDSP plugins have been the backbone of my guitar tone for several years now. I’ve had the luxury of mixing and matching them to find the exact tones I need for each song. So when writing this song, I wanted to see how much I could do with just one plugin. Using the guitar to synth converter in the Archetype Rabea plugin was a new experience and was a blast to experiment with.
The end result turned out to be such a vibe. A little different than the songs I’ve been making but I love it all the same
00:00 Edge of breakup position 4 arpeggios with high reverb background notes
00:28 Synth converter on top
00:56 Octave fuzz
01:24 High gain with a single coil bridge and the tone rolled back
01:52 Guitar solo with the tone rolled back
02:21 Sleepy kitty reverb
02:38 Fuzz and synth reprise
03:07 Edge of breakup ending
Well written song and the guitar tone is tasty
Thank you! It was fun exploring everything a strat could do
Nice vibe!
Thanks man!
Bloody hell Mike, amazing chord progression and that tone
The ambient synthetic are just mwa (chefs kiss)
Gonna need a few listens and will give some more feedback
First time I have heard you solo slide that too - delicious phrasing brother
Thanks dude! Was feeling inspired by the progression and the guitar
