    I put the the metal hand strap connector in the base of the magtube handle the other way around, that moves the grip 1cm further back so goes over the back of my hand rather than over my knuckles.

    No way I would trust the small plastic bits holding the door to the controller. I can see the tabs on the door breaking off. Way better to use the ring. These are sweet though!

    • @OQPlay
      @OQPlay  3 роки тому +2

      If you use the magnetic cups, the controllers battery door is firmly in place. I’ve yet to put enough time into the straps when just attached to the controller, but I do feel the plastic wedged into the door will be strong enough, especially as you’re gripping the door too. That said, over the ring sensor would have been my preferred attachment too.

    Good stuff. But I've never found any strap connected to the RING and the base to be in the right position. This puts the strap over your knuckles, and not over your hand.
    It also pulls the controller into the palm of your hand, meaning your buttons and stick are no longer at your thumb, but a bit behind it.
    Have you found that reaching the buttons feel a bit unnatural compared to not having that strip there at all?

    • @OQPlay
      @OQPlay  3 роки тому

      Hi, I put both the ProStraps and VR Cover grips on and neither have any restrictions you talk about. I have average hands and neither felt restrictive. I know what you mean about sitting on the knuckles, both of these sit more further back on the back of your hand. See at time stamp 5:03
      I think it’s all about how the top of the strap connects to the controller. The ProStraps attach really low from the battery cover so it doesn’t push you hand around or back to create that restrictive position.
      Hope this helps.

      @Khan613 3 роки тому +1

      @@OQPlay I think it does. Thanks. I just placed my order. So the way things are going I'll probably see them in 2 months :)

    • @OQPlay
      @OQPlay  3 роки тому

      @@Khan613 I hope you like them when they arrive. Yesterday I tried swapping the pads over and using the more longer elastic as a way to attach the top end over the sensor ring. Sadly the result is a more restrictive movement in the thumb stick area. It seems any knuckle strap with a sensor attachment will do this. Which explains why the original way works well. I just don’t like how it attaches to the battery door. But I can’t think of any other way at the moment that makers can get around this. 🤔

    • @Khan613
      @Khan613 3 роки тому +1

      @@OQPlay My prostraps just arrived and I installed these in under 5 minutes. I am impressed....but I am forced to hold the controller in a new position and this is what I was afraid of.
      Don't get me wrong, I would recommend Prostraps, but if you have longer fingers, expect to be reaching inward to get to those buttons.
      I can already see a good deal of room for improvement. I would have wanted the battery cover and mag cup to be one printed piece with a thicker palm "filler" in order to conserve that distance from the base of your thumb to the sticks. For example, that oculus "O" button is now unreachable as it almost sits near the base of my thumb.
      It would also help secure the controller to your hand with the straps going as far back over your hand as possible, and not your knuckles. And solve that unsealable battle cover problem.
      Protube products have always been pricey. So it's hard for me to say it is worth the money. Rather, you get what you expect. A decent Prostrap solution which is compatible with my Magtube. And, considering I have to do a "pushup" with my fingers to get the controller away from my hand to hit those Oculus Menu buttons, I'm still somewhat happy with it.

    • @OQPlay
      @OQPlay  2 роки тому +1

      If you use a small screwdriver or something smell enough to pass through the hole and leaver the nut out, it is likely just slightly wedged in and needs a push.

    I've tried a few straps now and all of them I find to restrict my trigger fingers as they overlap the knuckle slightly. These look like they don't impede over the knuckles so just want to confirm if they create any restriction for the trigger fingers?

    • @OQPlay
      @OQPlay  3 роки тому +1

      That’s right. Because these do not go around the sensor ring it causes more room for your hand to move, meaning you can grip the handle more naturally, so your trigger finger (and for me my thumb) feels less restricted.
      With the soft pad on the back of your hand. The whole strap feels like a hug than a clamped on strap. If you get what I mean.

    This guy makes some tight sandwiches!
    PS. you can probably make it tighter by cutting out a pit of plastic up there where it exits. Seems fairly good solution, not holding on to ring and possibly blocking orientation leds like many other solutions do.

    • @gelisob
      @gelisob 3 роки тому +2

      a bit worried about the longevity of the bottom printed part, when getting much stress and movement. And just cut those damn logo flaps :D dont think they serve any useful task, only making it harder to use the product.

    • @OQPlay
      @OQPlay  3 роки тому +1

      I was surprised these parts were 3D printed. The plastic they used is pretty solid and they didn't give any sense of breaking any time soon.
      LOL, yes the logo tabs were a very poor location for them. They could have sewn them onto the ends of the elastic straps.

  • @hitmewiththedigits

    Unlike the Quest wrist loops, these hand straps don't actually keep the controller on you if you pelt a grenade and accidentally let go the remote when you release the middle-finger button (I proved this to my satisfaction by throwing my hands at my bed). It's not that I can't appreciate that a bit of engineering went into these. It's just that they don't quite work as they are.

    • @hitmewiththedigits

      good news: the quest wrist loops fit through the protube magnetic cups. Bad news: I spent thirty bucks on these prostraps.

    • @OQPlay
      @OQPlay  3 роки тому

      Sorry to hear that they flew off your hands. I guess the soft padding doesn’t have that much friction so as comfy as they are they could slide off your hand. Did you have them tight enough? You just have really thrown that grenade! :)
