How to Wire Water Heater to Disconnect
Heres How !! Watch now.
Installing power supply to a water heater using a 10/2 "Whip". Follow these very important tips for the best installation possible.
I replaced a double connection power line with a 6' whip using 10/2 wire to properly supply power to this water heater. All connections are secure and panels back in place.
Be sure to always use your grounds, put the cover plates back in it proper location and clean up when the job is complete.
As I stress in many of my videos, doing the job right is the most important thing you can do, trust me, you will feel good about it when you're done.
Here are a couple things I used for this project.

I love the professional new intro! And this is a great project and step-by-step instructions.
Thank you very much.
Yes sir Dan! Great professional instructions 👍🏼
Excellent video very informative thanks
Shouldn’t the wire coming into the disconnect have a bushing or grommet?
On my new electric water heater there are two green ground screws (one inside the wire compartment like your example and one on the top of the cover) does it matter which ground screw I use?
Thought I had already responded but might have forgotten to hit the post button.
Question, why is it black and white feeding power to the disconnect? 12 gauge?
Should it not be black and red, 10 gauge?
question ? what if my power from the electric panel 30 amp breaker is a 10/3 wire and the 240 volt water heater only has a black and a red wire plus ground?
do I tie the red with red and black with black capping off the white wire as being not used? or tie the white wire to the red and black to black at the water heater capping the spare red from the electric panel?
I believe you cap off the white. You need 240 to the unit so and it doesn’t use a neutral
Why is that white and black feeding the shut-off? Size 12??
Shouldn’t also be size 10 (black and red)?
Yes it it should be 10 wire.
Why wouldnt I have power from my water heater disconnect switch and my main breaker isn't tripped
