I find it really funny that he just completely dismisses how improved Cam Thomas has been this season, which was pretty much his first full season in the rotation. He already knows what Cam Thomas can or cannot be when he’s doing this at 21 years old and he’s already decided that Cam Thomas basketball potential is already capped out. I don’t get it. If he was 27 years old fine. As for defense, he definitely can get better is he gonna be a lockdown guy probably not because he has length issues, but there are so many talented offensive players in the NBA who are not good defensive players that I find it hard to believe that he can’t be successful in the right defense scheme, surrounded by the right type of players. The nets played a heavily switching small ball type defense scheme. That’s probably not the type of scheme that Cam Thomas needs to be successful.
It’s utterly fascinating watching the contrast between the extensive analysis Cam Thomas gets from Locked on Nets…and watching you (more or less) laughing at him and chuckling at how he’s moving to Get Dat Bag
I've done like a full, in-depth deep-dive on Cam Thomas this year on the channel breaking down his game. Can't do it every single time I talk about him.
@@GameTheoryPodcastwSamVecenie oh, I don’t say it because I’m miffed about the nature of the discussion: I’m a Pacers man so I have no skin in the Nets’ fate, but I am genuinely comparing as many analysts’ thoughts as possible-watching what the team’s up to has gained that “roadkill on the side of the highway” property
Surprised to hear Cam's game gets minimized to "March Basketball" as if he had a hot shooting month when that was not the case. I also hate the "you cant win with him" when your average 3rd-year player who just started getting consistent PT is not leading your team to the title. Cam is developing to be a better passer which has shown in the uptake in his assist towards the end of the season.
You missed a key part of what Sam said. He said can't win with him as the primary option. Which is true of basically every single player ever like him. That doesn't mean he can't contribute on a winning team but those are two drastically different things.
i dont understand what the difference between a developing cam thomas with a near 30yr old Mitchell ? both undersized guards. you trade him for mitchell what you winning 5 more games? especially with bridges being the "best third option" lol A legit 3rd option can get you buckets when the stars are gone. This dude bricked the whole season. He cant lead on or off the court, good guy tho. he is a 4th or 5th option on a good team thats the reality
We dont need Donovan Mitchell on this team. We already have a guy on the roster who can drop 40 on just about any defense aside from maybe the top 5... Thomas just needs a little more in the off-season in the way of looking for his teammates and he is the consistent rim pressure the offense needs. Problem is he's undersized so he should be more willing to facilitate for others but maybe w another off season of development. Also if Cam is at the 2 then our roster is pretty small assuming we bring claxston back. Claxston is also not a scoring threat outside 10'. So realistically we need an upgrade at one guard spot and the Center position and we can compete in the east without Spida
As a nets fan, the only way for this team to get better is to hope that the team gets so bad that the nba steps in to force the owner to sell the team and make changes to the horrible front office. The owner in a interview said he doesn’t care at all if the team is in a position to win or not, because as long as he continues to profit he doesn’t care what happens. At the same time the front office continues to make poor decisions, especially now with prioritizing keeping Ben Simmons and allowing Claxton to walk for nothing. As a nets fan I want nothing more than for every player on the team to get moved so that they can be successful somewhere else
the problem is the market and the owners we have had. when we first moved to bk it was always win NOW. trade picks and win now! We even traded a fkn top 10 pick (dame) for a free an unrestricted free agent in the off season of gerald wallace, not even bobcats prime wallace... Then we trade more picks to boston for old guys, give our youth to the cavs for harden and our picks to the rockets. we get fleeced every trade because we are always trying to skip rebuilding and just make money with seats
Ur free to feel how you want but hoping the team gets so bad or worse doesn't seem like something a true fan would want. The Nets need an upgrade at PG and Center and they can be right back in the playoff picture.
@@EffortlessEffervescence playoff picture is not what i want to aim for tho, championships is what i want. Just getting a pg and a new c wont get us into the finals. 3:32 - NO! I would blow this sh*t up, trade Mikal, Johnson, Dorian Finney-Smith, and Schröder for draft picks, bad contracts, and good young prospects on their rookie contracts
@@BeyondTheNetsPod Need is a stretch. He is serviceable. Not great. Him, Bridges, Johnson, Clowney and an upgraded Center position can be good. I would even resign claxston but then I think we need to improve at Point and maybe the SF position to increase scoring
This is almost as bad as fan twitter. Cavs aren’t giving up all- nba player without Bridges coming back. Ben Simmons and bad first won’t get it. This makes zero sense. I know you can do better.

I hear you bro
I'm on ur side too I just don't think Marks and this Front office have that in mind
We'll see
As a suns fan I wish we could have him back
This gm is killing out team..
The nets won’t jump over the cavs 😂 they will still be better. Idk why ppl think Mitchell is this needle mover
Don't think we should move Mikal. Nets could have $80 MM in cap space a summer 2025
Lol. Should've kept House for cheap since Kevo was going to leave anyway
Maybe the Nets should throw loads of money at getting OG anunoby
then trade Bridges to Portland for Grant.
