Manitowoc Co. WI siren test #2

- Dual tone ACA Allertor 125 located at Stangel Elementary in the city of Manitowoc. These were the only sirens in town until about 10 years ago when the city installed penetrators to fill in the gaps. At the end I zoom in tight on it and you can see it spinning inside.
This one sounds like it's about six semitones lower than the other ones in town. Motor problems prehaps?
**UPDATE**
This siren has since been replaced by a T-128 It's nice to see my home town has good taste in buying new sirens
**UPDATE** I now have hard evidence this siren was installed in 1982!
RIP Stangel Elementary Allertor
1982-2008
_(Edit) Well, it was a pretty sick siren. With the following issues:_
_- The rotors of the siren was spinning in the wrong way. They was sucking up air instead of supercharging it, that explain why that sounds quiet. (Reversed-Wired)_
_- The motor was toasted and all the copper bars in the rotor melted. (Struck by lightings.)_
_But I was surprised that even after those failures, the siren continued to function before being replaced._ R.I.P.
@MrLazyBones I do have to credit the siren for that the fact that it still works despite how damaged it is it's clearly beyond safe condition though with it already having heat damage and the rotor being melted it would have eventually already died though it was replaced with a siren that also failed in 2012
Source?
The motor aint molten, its running on the wrong phase
It’s not actually reverse wired
its been replaced by a T-128
Yep, and this is one of them here. They had a 10hp Doerr capacitor start/run motor, and more times than not they would wind up like this due to armature trouble Doerr had with those motors. The P-15 we just refurbished and installed had a 15hp Doerr single phase motor on it, and sounded at about the same pitch as this one.
It's also been hit by lightning several times
uwtitanfan this siren was struck by lightning and it still worked? Then this thing was legendary
There’s the answer of why it’s sick
Wow
The siren is a legendary siren

LOVE THE SOUND OF THAT ALLERTOR!!!!! SAD THAT IT WAS REPLACED BY A T-128 :( T-128s suck a little (not even loud)
According to a compilation video of sick Sirens that this clip was included in that exact siren malfunctioned in 2012 what was that like?
*you zoom in on siren*
*siren turns and sees you*
You: uhhhhh....hi?
Allerator: jfhoirhdtoiehrtoiyhreoth *wails*
Awesome. I'd have to say that the dual tone ACA Allertor is my favorite siren overall. This lower-pitched one sounds downright creepy, too. Thanks for posting.
This is the video that got me into allertors.
Nostalgicmvideo
The angel its on the up on the sky
VERY SICK!
Lol!
@@dammionpeaks2209 very very sick
The Allertor is one of my Favorite Sirens...it Looks Good and Sounds Good too......i wish the FS 2001's sounded like them. :-)...better yet i wish they were still made!
Lile
For some reason I like sick tornado sirens. This one was the most interesting sick tornado siren I have ever seen.
It's a dual tone siren. The motor has issues though.
I hear these sirens every Saturday while eating lunch. I never took much notice of it going to Stangel, but it's really cool that the old CD logos are still on it!
Finally, I found a full version of the Sick Allertor video I saw. (?)
This one’s been lifted several times
It was installed in 1975
that's pretty impressive it's age and all the rough treatment it's been through from nature and it still works though not correctly
Is the new T-128 in that same exact spot to where that Allertor is or is the T-128 in a different spot near by?
That location seems haunted. Where the Allertor almost seems to not get enough power and the t-128 that replaced it went off on its own.
Kyle Dipper yes it it's cursed because of this Allertor lol nah jk it's cursed though
That cyclone is up the road in two rivers by the water tower on the east side of town
They may look scary, but I trust Allertors.
It’s sucking up air instead of supercharging it. That’s why it’s so quiet. And the chopper looks to have been melted.
That Siren Is Sick
The sound of it with the sunny day and in a park (perhaps) strikes a big nostalgic nerve in me.
How cool, the thing stops staring at you!!!
Everytime I heard that sound it creeps me out.
Holy crap it's VERY sick!😱
is the allertor at the public works building still active?
wait! the ACA P-50 is the ASC T-135? or is the T-135 a T-128 only fatter
This one sounds really eerie. This one really gives me the chills. Can you re-tape this one again, and get closer? Do they sound these in repeated high-low tones?
No
Sounds Sick!
Cough-cough-wheeze-wheeze!
that would be hilarious. Instead of an alarm, you'd hear the number 1 song on the charts
Sick very sick
OMG that windup sounds scary!!!!! I'd hate to have that go off at night.
it was getting full voltage, motor was damaged though. 120 wouldn't even turn the motor over.
The motor works fine it’s just the whole thing is reverse wired and most of the chopper was melted badly.
@@barbaraespino62393 This one wasn't reverse wired at all.
@@BusMaster99 yes it was
@@dank980 Say what you want, but this one wasn't.
Hearing it crank up at 00:03...it's just so creepy sounding!
the allertor looks sad =,(
4:14 hi camera
Didn't know a full test video of this existed
You ought to tape the allertor at Washington Park again. That was a cool one. I liked the grey color on that one.
Is this a single-phase unit? The motor pickup is really slow, and the siren sounds like it has a cold.
This video is almost ten years old omg
Will you ever record a video of the Stangel Elementary T-128 on a test day?
The tempest replaced it
Wonder why the motor is slower? Very lucky that it stopped pointing towards you! But time to get a tripod. Too difficult to hold a camera steady when zooming in. Thanks.
That must be a very unhealthy Allertor. Hey Mr.Allertor, STOP EATING MCDONALDS SO MUCH!!!
A ghost is controlling the allertor.
I know, I've seen that photo on the siren archive, but that Cyclone is in Two Rivers
the times when you could still see the Original CD stickers pretty well on sirens.
R.I.P ACA Allertor, 1988 to 2008.
1982
Siren looks very saddened to its sound poor siren rip aca allertor 125 1975-2008 and 2014 till the thank of the video thank to the siren for its hard work to alerto the people for tornados
One is on the air intake, one is on the air output. If you use the sound generated on both sides, you increase the percieved loudness, especially on a directional horn.
Exactly one year before I was born
WeatherRadiosAndSirens01 me too
@@Benicio_Fols you 14 now?
I like the lower pitch, even if it is supposed to be higher. Lower tones carry farther than higher tones, therefore can be heard farther.
But not when the volume is so low...
Poor Allertor! it sounds like it's sick!
I was inside so I don't over modulate the sound levels in my camcorder
Wow that actually sounds nice
Near and elementary school huh? Run for your life, kiddies!!!
The Allertor is not Correctly warning the area, that low tone most likely means that the motor is broken and can go out at any time during a real warning or test and not producing the 125 dB at 1000 feet that it should be.
I believe tests are done at a precise time, like exactly 11 a.m., or Noon or 6 p.m. If exactly on an hour in good weather, it is a test. They do notest if weather is threatening.
Bring the allertor back!
you know what else sucks... a T-128 there not even loud. my dad says so when I recorded the T-128 in limerick.
Problems: Bad phase on the rotors, power feed, the chopper motor is spinning the wrong way & it's sucking up air instead of supercharging (Reverse Wired) that's why it's so quiet & most of the chopper motor had been melted badly, later it got replaced by a ASC T-128 which had malfunctioned in early 2012.
That was a very sick siren
@ekoslosky its not 2 sirens. the bottom "siren" is to suck in the air and the top one is to blow it out.
Great video. Im from Prairie du Chien WI and we have allertors but they sound nothing like this
Are you sure these were the only sirens? I've seen a photo of an ASC Cyclone on the siren archive which was taken in 2004, but I have no idea when that siren was installed.
its still sounds better than ati and 2001-130's
is it on a phase convertor
I also wonder if they took the siren to west shore services
@uwtitanfan so did the t128 take place of the alertor?
That allertor is very very sick
Did it ever get fixed???
it was replaced a long time ago
we used to have a alletor or sd 10 where I live and it was so loud I had to cover my ears and we lived 1 street over from it. the siren was on top of a school but was replaced in 2002. it would have hi lo attack for 3 minutes.
I think it's the 2 tones combined that create the high pitched 3rd tone. I remember from my childhood memories..WAY back like around 4 yrs. old, me and my friend tried to see who could scream the loudest and with both of us screaming at the same time, we heard another tone. Well, that's my theory anyways...but who knows. LOL
think that thing needs a new capacitor, either that or the motor is on its way out. slow startup and even after it got going i would of thought the pitch would of been a little higher.
Have the others been replaced with T128's too?
nice old school video
i love it's wind up sound!
The ones we have in the more 2000 ages are bad because they are high tone and loud. High tone is usually louder and travels faster, faster and louder alert - more people saved.
That sounds sick
was/is there such thing as a single phase allertor? just curious.
that doesn't apply in Harrisburg, IL
I remember them testing sirens when sky looked incredibly menacing, but it was nothing more than very heavy rain
Sounds like my Lawn Tractor with the deck activated for cutting
Love aca allertor
The bad thing about fully-electronic sirens: They can be hacked to broadcast any sound, so internet meme-wise pranksters could rickroll an entire town! lol
And the batteries
is that the sick allertor?
thanks for the info!
No, I hate when sirens like Allertors are scraped.
Lol at the end the allertor is staring at you
4:13 *siren* hello there
This alliater’s chopper is rotating backwards which is sucking up air instead of shooting out air according to another video
It sounds like a tuba playing a chord on the same note!!
I wonder how much one of these goes for, when it's taken out of service...
Hahahaha,,,, The thing stopped staring at you!!! lol!!
That thing is wayyyyyy underpowered
On Google Maps I saw a T-135. They look like T-128s but with a longer motor box and horn projector. It looks almost exactly like T-128s, which is probably why you thought it was one. Good guess, though.
Too bad they replaced the Allertor, but at least it wasn't a 2001 or ATI. T-128s are good sirens.
What a frighting wind up
It kinda sounds sick
Correct. The sound waves cross and interact, I believe. This girl and her mom I used to know always screamed at each other and you'd swear you heard near ultra sonic tones...it would make your ears want to bleed.
These particular sirens look very scarry...I dunno, almost alien like.
It died at age 33
Lol.
is that a dual or tri toned allertor?
These types of Sirens look like there maybe like over 100 Watts. The thing about these types of Sirens is that they would have a fan that goes fast. The thing about the fan is that its more like a chopper and a blower.
It's a sick siren
It is a little slower pitched than all the other audio and video clips I've heard of dual tone Allertors. The lower tone makes it more ominous and scary. Still is pretty cool video though!
