Personally I don’t see it as a threat or an issue. It doesn’t remove whitening, fix corners, remove creases, remove heavy scratches or defects. I don’t see it as altering to the point of being deceptive, in fact; I don’t see it as altering at all. If I clean my car before I sell it does that mean I have altered the car? Does that mean I’m being deceptive to the new buyer? No, it means I’m showing them the car in a clean condition. This would surely help the buying process by viewing the car/card without any contaminants/fingerprints on it that wouldn’t be there if I didn’t clean it? Anyway just my thoughts on this.
This biggest issue that i see here is people altering their cards and then selling them off to people as NM, without mentioning the fact that there’s polish on them. Saddest part about this? I legit believe that none of these grading companies can tell whether they are altered or not.

And that's whether or not the splooge is actually detectable/noticed by ANY grading company. Has anyone sent this stuff to PSA, BECKETT, or SGC and reported back? A smart buyer makes sure they have these protections in place before buying anything online. But everyone wants a deal and goes to back alley markets with shady Pokémon slingers, and then get upset when they get got. Its like going to skidrow and expecting not run into junkies and someone looking to rob you if they get the chance. Its silly. Theres no need for it. Pokémon at retail prices appreciates as whole still better than the S&P 500. Year over year. 15%+ annually is great. But people want more always. They want that 40-50-60% return and do some real shady stuff and buy from real shady people.
I might start just collecting raw cards. I literally just got back a graded card from. BGS, and guess what? They graded the freaking card upside-down! Are you kidding me? How does this happen? All these companies should be avoided. It's all opinionated based on the people they hire.

Its always something special about going through a binder. And going through other trainers binders at local meetups. Cards locked up in plastic can't replicate that

That's how I do it, just a big binder. Cards don't have to be high quality, sometimes they're yard sale collections that I assimilated. I'm comfortable putting just about any one of my cards into a deck. It's cheaper and it's wholesome. No drama or anything, just bliss.
There's nothing better than flipping through the ol 3 ring binder, looking at all my cards. I used to bring my best binders to the bars and I'd bring a new chick home every night, never failed. I had to stop because they'd get so wet from looking at my cards, soaking the floor. One night a gentleman at the bar slipped and broke his neck. After that I had to take a step back and realized I was partially responsible.
Glad ur done, because I’m not grading with PSA ever, never ever again CGC all the way all the way for me. All grading companies have their issues especially PSA grading a fake bunch of jordan cards, that’s sad & incompetent, PSA is not trust worthy & my cards will never go there for grading
Additional comment - these companies need to actually get their hands on this buffing/void filling compound, send it to a 3rd party to do a detailed analysis on it, and create a non destructive chemical authentication process - or perhaps determine what spectrum of light it reacts to.

I doubt they can verify if anything is used on the cards or not unless visibly apparent. Even tho they responded to you, its unlikely they are able to stop the card from getting graded off instagram DMs. The employee who graded the card probably didn't see the video or had any idea. There is probably no way for them to track that specific card down either just off a youtube video. Feels like a bit of a reach. I had a CGC card sent back because a water mark looked sus resent it a few months later and it was graded fine. Probably just got a different employee grading it.

like I said in my last comment on your channel there is no way to tell that there is this substance on the cards if removed correctly. Plus what you are asking CGC to do in this case is to what not grade the card that when they get it they have no clue that it is altered plus even if they did know, like the grader was told, look out for this specific card and when it comes in you don't grade it even if they don't find nothing wrong that would make them assume alteration. lastly the thing is if they would have declined there grading service to this customer because there is a high probability that this card is altered even though there is nothing on the card that would lead to that conclusion. In my opinion how do you even respond to that like how would you resolve the issue of people using this substance that very clearly removes scratches and imperfections that the card has . People would still continue to use this substance just not post videos about it on social. I love your channel and videos but with this take I think there are allot of things that need to be considered in this situation. CGC became a tiny relevant due to BGS and PSA being on hold during covid. Now that they're back, CGC isn't looking hot. Those who defend CGC are the ones heavily invested into the cards they graded. :/
Literally no TPG can tell if a card is wiped, chemicals or not. Everything about grading is visual. If you can't see that a card has been wiped, they can't do anything about it. It is what it is.
@Opossum Bud I just don't think it's economically feasible for them to investigate in detail every instance of a card being wiped, who's submitting it, when, etc, AFTER it already passed grading standards. How can they even prove if the card that was submitted was the exact same card that was in the video? Maybe, MAYBE, if it's like a $1,000+ card they could spend the time, money and resources to investigate the matter, but to just expect it to happen at your whim seems a bit, I don't know, entitled I guess. PSA is way more corrupt, but allows u to flip cards faster, Beckett is probably the best for quality control, and a tier higher with the black label CGC has the clearest case and is better for display for your personal collection your not selling. cases are more durable as well. I use psa to flip and CGC to display
exactly, each have there ups and downs, we have yet to see a new company incorporate all the good aspects of each into one single company. I've had problems with all of the current grading companies threwout the years, so im also waiting still to see a new company hit all the markers and set the new bar, PSA isn't even hiding there corruption anymore, 10% after paying them to grade your cards is just robbery and corporate greed in my opinion, when u send in bulk u get more tens as well, PSA also lead the way for card flippers and has ruined it for passionate collectors and have made some cards out of reach for millions of ppl cheers bro! have fun collecting hope you have better experiences in the future ! @@OpossumBud

CGC has been doing some really shady stuff like this in the comic book world too. Last year they accepted and graded books that blatantly had an aftermarket, not publisher approved cover stapled on. What's even wilder in my opinion is that they have green (qualified) and purple (restored) labels that can go on comics, so why not use them here? The labels are pretty much the exact same just much smaller. At least label it and let people know it's been altered.

I stopped considering CGC as an option a few months or so back. A few years ago I liked them but with recent authentication issues It's either PSA or BGS if I know its a Black Label.
8:23 I cannot stress enough how much money I put into this franchise as a whole. I’ve been a Pokémon fan since I was 10 years old I’m now 34. And it’s really disgusting to me that they’re allowing people to do essentially throw away money because you’re right as a huge fan of The franchise and the member of the hobby I want my cards as they are. And if down the line this crap he put on the card oxidizes in the slabs or if he just does colors in a little bit I would be upset because it’s no longer the grade that it was when you initially graded it.

I dont know. Me personally I dont care if someone cleans the card. Once its sealed in the slab the grade can never change it its sealed no matter what the cleaner does to the card. Its sealed and a grandfathered score unless you crack it. Once cracked it will get lower score. Just dont crack once graded and sealed. Simple. Just my two cents. Lol. I appreciate your outlook though. I personally use Beckett.

Something to invest in, but this particular instance im talking about I gave them the cards in question, the person doing the altering, and a vid with proof of them altering the cards. Only thing more I could’ve done was hang out at the entrance to CGC and stop the sun myself… they acknowledged it and then let it through anyway even though it’s against their policy… they can at least detect it that way 🙏🏽

Their inconsistency in grading is one of the things I for sure take into account, and then this lack of being able to crack down on a person I literally did all the work for them with, and they acknowledge it and still let it though… thank you truly 🙏🏽

CGC became a tiny relevant due to BGS and PSA being on hold during covid. Now that they're back, CGC isn't looking hot. Those who defend CGC are the ones heavily invested into the cards they graded. :/
Literally no TPG can tell if a card is wiped, chemicals or not. Everything about grading is visual. If you can't see that a card has been wiped, they can't do anything about it. It is what it is.
What about the card I sent them with proof of it being altered, the person doing it, and the cards they were submitting… can they detect that?
@Opossum Bud I just don't think it's economically feasible for them to investigate in detail every instance of a card being wiped, who's submitting it, when, etc, AFTER it already passed grading standards. How can they even prove if the card that was submitted was the exact same card that was in the video? Maybe, MAYBE, if it's like a $1,000+ card they could spend the time, money and resources to investigate the matter, but to just expect it to happen at your whim seems a bit, I don't know, entitled I guess. If that's the right word. I love your content, so please don't take this as an attack or anything. Just trying to be realistic.

Beckett is probably the best for quality control, and a tier higher with the black label
CGC has the clearest case and is better for display for your personal collection your not selling. cases are more durable as well.

we have yet to see a new company incorporate all the good aspects of each into one single company. I've had problems with all of the current grading companies threwout the years, so im also waiting still to see a new company hit all the markers and set the new bar,
PSA isn't even hiding there corruption anymore, 10% after paying them to grade your cards is just robbery and corporate greed in my opinion, when u send in bulk u get more tens as well, PSA also lead the way for card flippers and has ruined it for passionate collectors and have made some cards out of reach for millions of ppl

Like to falsely show that you can clean cards and still get them graded? If not I agree this whole situation is b.s I just don't see how a grader would miss something like that especially when the say they don't accept altered cards...

CGC has been doing some really shady stuff like this in the comic book world too. Last year they accepted and graded books that blatantly had an aftermarket, not publisher approved cover stapled on. What's even wilder in my opinion is that they have green (qualified) and purple (restored) labels that can go on comics, so why not use them here? The labels are pretty much the exact same just much smaller. At least label it and let people know it's been altered.
Dang dude it sucks you put money into grading those cards just for a company to have a shitty grading system, I don't grade cards but this is unacceptable and kinda sad that CGC would allow people to alter cards for "better condition"

A few years ago I liked them but with recent authentication issues
It's either PSA or BGS if I know its a Black Label.
i personally have zero interest in grading. if centering and card is not damaged, i'm good. i don't need to spend more money on cardboard.
that said, i did purchase two cards slabbed to complete a collection. but they were cracked and card was taken out.

And it’s really disgusting to me that they’re allowing people to do essentially throw away money because you’re right as a huge fan of The franchise and the member of the hobby I want my cards as they are. And if down the line this crap he put on the card oxidizes in the slabs or if he just does colors in a little bit I would be upset because it’s no longer the grade that it was when you initially graded it.

I dont know. Me personally I dont care if someone cleans the card. Once its sealed in the slab the grade can never change it its sealed no matter what the cleaner does to the card. Its sealed and a grandfathered score unless you crack it. Once cracked it will get lower score. Just dont crack once graded and sealed. Simple. Just my two cents. Lol. I appreciate your outlook though. I personally use Beckett.

Now ppl are out here cleaning cards and getting them graded I was just gonna make a video about how I just don’t trust them period like make sure all the cards you send in are the cards your getting back 😉 just because it says mint 10 doesn’t mean that it’s the card you sent them … right ? Something to invest in, but this particular instance im talking about I gave them the cards in question, the person doing the altering, and a vid with proof of them altering the cards. Only thing more I could’ve done was hang out at the entrance to CGC and stop the sun myself… they acknowledged it and then let it through anyway even though it’s against their policy… they can at least detect it that way 🙏🏽
