I don’t get why XY Evolutions sealed products are so expensive when the hits themselves aren’t even that expensive. You can get the two expensive Charizards for less than a 3-pack blister.
The rule of thumb I've always used when it came to "investing" in pokemon cards is buy in threes. One to open. One to keep sealed. And one to sell later down the line. You sell the 3rd one when it covers the price of what you spent on all 3

Great Vid s always. My investment advice is 1.) Hold, Hold, Hold. Pokémon is a long term hold. 2.) Sealed is King. Even the most unwanted sets like Evolutions go up. 3.) Invest in sets you believe in, don't spread out just to diversify. I'd rather have grabbed 10 boxes of team up then 2 and a bunch of others, stand on the sets you believe in. I believe in Japanese 151 so I grabbed 9 boxes. I think Chilling Reign is 2nd best S&S set behind evolving I grabbed 4 boxes. I believe in Lost Origin, Brilliant Stars and Fusion Strike long term so I'm currently grabbing them.

Danny Phantump posted a vid that had a website from just 4-5 years ago before the boom that had Fossil or Jungle (some vintage packs I don’t remember exactly) for some crazy low price like $25 or something. Pokémon was really cheap not that long ago.
I remember when i was stationed in Hawaii. Targets had evolutions, xy on clearance. No one wanted pokemon. Hidden fates were sitting in shelfs. Wish i could go back.
To be honest, the main take here is to follow on what does your intuition and stimulus kicks in. Whether to follow their tip or not, its up yours to take. These legal advices can vary from time to time but we cant guarantee for it. I enjoy collecting tcgs because they are pretty fascinating as well as a part time hobby.
My collection is banging because it’s my collection. My advice, don’t listen to investors associated with Pokemon and collect what you like. I collect because I like the cards not for the monetary value. I have $2 cards that are awesome.
People forget we have proof of concept; ie sports cards. Good news is Charizard is never going to have to do some PR clean up. If good sports cards didn’t keep rising I would think differently. If all the people with actual money weren’t buying stocks, the could be throwing their money at Pokémon cards. 🧐 times will change. Maybe I need to make a video on this too, but with actual logic. Good job as always OB
The invest bros would shit their pants if they watched some of Primetime Pokémon’s free cards by mail videos from back in the day. The Dude is a GOAT legend.
Man I came back into the hobby after a couple years . I’m trying to build out a deck so I’m selling off some singles I don’t want . The amount of investment bros trying to buy my whole binder at a discount is crazy . I’m tired of these people lol
Maybe side note, we are lucky living in the US and Europe we can even afford to buy these in the first place. You don’t think the rest of the world is going to get wealthier over time to mess up that good old supply and demand curve?
Are you going to talk about great value rev trying to reform his channel? There’s also a couple posts on the pokeinvesting subreddit about a guy getting his vintage inheritance and trying to piece them out.
I'll say on Whatnot as a new seller a year ago, everybody that came in my stream almost wanted cards lower than tcg lowest listed and ask for giveaways every couple minute's. I see the popular streamers tho that have their long term viewers literally overpay to support. But alot of times high items dont get bid on and you can get steals if chats are sleeping.
@@trey6615 Weird and slimy because anyone who was interested in actually investing would do some research and find real investments that have performed much better than pokemon. Most Pokemon "investors" are simply flippers looking to cause or take advantage of false shortages. There's a reason most investors have complained about this newest generation of cards, because pokemon is back to printing billions of cards and these flippers can't profit off false shortages. Also weird and slimy because there's people like you. Those that see a video and get so triggered by it, feeling that they are under attack, that their only option left is to lash out several times in that comment section, casting juvenile insults at randoms to feel better about their weird and slimy nature.
I invest for fun. I put 500 dollars on ETF index fund and 500 dollars on booster box and slabs every month. Really can’t lose if you diversify beyond cardboard
My favorite thing about all these investor guys….. is how after the boom literally the best advice was to just buy freaking sealed product and hold it for a minute lol. Wasn’t rocket science if that was your thing. Like, just hold onto the damn product and wait for it to increase….
I knew this was going to be a good one like always. Longest video in awhile. Ill put a investment video out. Think it will be good. Not sure if anyone has done it but just gonna go with it.
I only invest in the oversized promo cards because as we get older our eyesight will get worse and only be able to look at those cards. Big 🧠 Timmy over here
I find it hilrarous how they sit in front of this shelf full off boxes like some sort of bored shopkeeper, open the bloody things and enjoy the cards ffs!!!
The advice that makes sense is investing on modern will more than likely bring you little to nothing back in profits. Its just common sense given how they increased printing after covid and after what happened with sets of that time. Invest in older stuff. That won't go down in value, only up.
I’ve legitimately gotten into arguments with these newer collectors who don’t realize that cards and product used to be stupid cheap. I remember plasma storm etbs just sitting on shelves and people not rushing to buy out the shit. In 2014 you could buy a raw complete shadowless 1st base set for $1000. And that included zard. These new people annoy me. None of this “investment” talk was a thing back then.
I've found the speed of appreciation recently a tad alarming. Like Lost Origin was £115 a month ago and now it's £200. Either demand really is that insane or there's a lot of speculators. Could be the start of a longer term bubble. It'll be interesting to see what happens in 10 years when all these hoarders plan to sell.
Evolutions used to be the filler pack in boxes for years until the pandemic. insane times. Im also old enough to remember sets like aquapolis shelf warmed because no one liked e reader cards
Pokemon printing cards so fast. Let alone buying older set, even completing modern sets as a hobby is not financially advisable. New sets come and go like consumables. Print, distribute, buy, next! But wai.... Don't care, here's new product. My paldean fates haven't even come yet! Don't care, here's temporal force, cyber judge preorder!. For graded cards, it's not only depends on whether people interested in graded cards. But also whether the company you grade your card with destroyed their own reputation while you are sitting on it.
Bro why 99% of these investor types own nothing but shit thats come out in the last few years but talking like they've been in the game forever.. its fucking embarrasing.
I mean there are a couple of them that talk a big game and have very average collections. Which is fine, but the words don’t match the hands in those cases

Because I’m an ADULT
Oooo we have an adult over here
Bruh I am so tired of investors thinking they’re better than scalpers, any time you bring money into a hobby it fucking ruins it for collectors. Unfortunately i dont think we’ll ever go back to those pre covid days as long as shit like the pokeinvesting subreddit and pokeinvesting discord groups are active
All Pokemart does now is flex his machines that sort bulk lmao.
I mean 👀
They sell evolutions booster box for 1000$ , here in The Netherlands .. absolutely crazy!
I like PokeOz. Been subbed to him for a bit
Cool I don’t dislike homie 🤷🏽♂️
I really hope that all the people “investing” in “valuable” cards, sell them off when they dip down for a few years and then leave the hobby permanently.
Great video, some 'investing' videos don't age well, some state the 'bleeding obvious'. Best investment I can recommend is buy high and sell low 😂
It’s a weird slope that has so many different takes it’s just contradictory to a point.
7:42 this guy looks like he just woke up on the sidewalk…
10:07 This guy has a Champions Path ETB in the background HAHA!!
13:51 Holy fuck this guys a genius!
I like how all these guys who claim to be long term investors have S&V booster in their backgrounds haha
Danny Phantump posted a vid that had a website from just 4-5 years ago before the boom that had Fossil or Jungle (some vintage packs I don’t remember exactly) for some crazy low price like $25 or something. Pokémon was really cheap not that long ago.
Then the fire nation attacked
Ay tay bays aka etbs (Forrest Gump voice) JENNNNNAAAAY DID YOU GET MY AY TAY BAYYY
haha loved the video brah! you gain a new subscriber
Thank you truly 🙏🏽
Buy high sell low
I remember when i was stationed in Hawaii. Targets had evolutions, xy on clearance. No one wanted pokemon. Hidden fates were sitting in shelfs. Wish i could go back.
Yeah I heard that was not uncommon over there from a few people. Guam too 👀
Anyone who thinks cardboard is a “investment” is actually remedial.
For some bad news for ya about the card communities man
🤣🤣🤣🤣@@OpossumBud
I have always loved XY, Evolutions is one of my favorites lol. I loved how readily available it was, then it all went away. :(
To be honest, the main take here is to follow on what does your intuition and stimulus kicks in. Whether to follow their tip or not, its up yours to take. These legal advices can vary from time to time but we cant guarantee for it. I enjoy collecting tcgs because they are pretty fascinating as well as a part time hobby.
The main take away here is everyone’s advice contradicts each others and you should make your own minds up 👍🏽
My collection is banging because it’s my collection. My advice, don’t listen to investors associated with Pokemon and collect what you like. I collect because I like the cards not for the monetary value. I have $2 cards that are awesome.
Ummmm $2 cards can’t be awesome 😂 except the Gardevoir CHR cards, those are awesome!
Couldn’t hurt to make one 👍🏽
The invest bros would shit their pants if they watched some of Primetime Pokémon’s free cards by mail videos from back in the day. The Dude is a GOAT legend.
Literally would crap themselves
If you're not a fuck boy and collect for reasons other than value. Your collection will never be ruined
RUINED!!! 😂
PokeOZ is a good dude, glad you didn't rip him Poss.
I heard "Ea Te Ba" one too many times. I'm not going to be like pokeNe at any point in my life
😂
Man I came back into the hobby after a couple years . I’m trying to build out a deck so I’m selling off some singles I don’t want . The amount of investment bros trying to buy my whole binder at a discount is crazy . I’m tired of these people lol
Crunchy roll and whole "fresh" foods should hire you for commerical ideas 😂👌 everyone should be investing in peace of mind over everything else. 😇
Facts 🙏🏽
Prices will never be the same they were a few years ago. Everyone is dumping.
Maybe side note, we are lucky living in the US and Europe we can even afford to buy these in the first place. You don’t think the rest of the world is going to get wealthier over time to mess up that good old supply and demand curve?
Cards for everyone!
Ok, you got me bud. It’s taken me some time, but old Opposum Bud is pretty good value to watch I must say 😂.
Pokemon investors have the best closets.
I guess lol
@@OpossumBudcannot display a case! Gotta keep it in a closet!
Are you going to talk about great value rev trying to reform his channel? There’s also a couple posts on the pokeinvesting subreddit about a guy getting his vintage inheritance and trying to piece them out.
Do I have to? 👀
Haha I copped a spray, love it!
😎
its like people forget so much stuff was abundant in non hype era but at the same time hate at SV being accessible and not stonks on release 😂
EXACTLY! As opposum said, for years you could find stuff on shelves cheap as hell. Well, guess what investor bois, this is what it was like.
It’s certainly true, for years product say on shelves and I was too poor to buy more 👀 still I had my fun til it got nuts
I made a mistake too. Buying cards i like and keeping in my binders. 😊
Oh no now you’re collection is ruined 😂
I'll say on Whatnot as a new seller a year ago, everybody that came in my stream almost wanted cards lower than tcg lowest listed and ask for giveaways every couple minute's.
I see the popular streamers tho that have their long term viewers literally overpay to support. But alot of times high items dont get bid on and you can get steals if chats are sleeping.
Shiii ive seen 10$ slabs sell for 20x on whatnot. I immediately nope tf out of those streams usually by being banned for comping in chat.
pretty much. Which is 99% of streams
@@JediMasterT the worst part is those guys will yell at chat for not overpaying.
I hate the term investing when it comes to cardboard. It's a hobby. You collect, play, or both. Investing in cardboard seems weird and slimy.
No people must make large pools of money or else it’s no fun 😡
Weird and slimy because it's been consistently strong in recent years?
Just enjoy the hobby. If you're in it for the money, you're going to be miserable in the hobby.
Truth 👍🏽
The only poke investor I respect is sauce boss
I wonder when he will come back 👀
Me: *just enjoying my butterfrees*
Investors: NOOOOOOOO YOU CAN'T LIKE THOSE CARDS THEY'RE WORTHLEEEEEEESSSSSS!!! HUUUUURDUUUUURRR!!!
made me leave "pokemon CoMmUnTItIEUES" because im so sick of investors.
When this market will crash completely
@@junkenst8281really your comments previously seem to disagree with
this channel is such a breath of fresh air lmaoooo
This video was extremely enjoyable and entertaining. 😂
Glad you liked it homie! You make good vids so means a lot dude 🙏🏽
@@OpossumBud I made a “Top 5 Mistakes” as well about a month ago. Glad I wasn’t featured in your vid! 😆
@@MimikBrew wouldn’t have been that bad I went easy on these homies 😂
Whered the cards go its all pops in the background lol
I only invest in the oversized promo cards because as we get older our eyesight will get worse and only be able to look at those cards. Big 🧠 Timmy over here
😂 you’re ahead of the game for real!
Oh god i remember the dude in that first video 😂 dude needs to go to the stock marker
He’s doesn’t bother me, biggest thing with all the advice is they all contradict each other and you should make your own decisions 👍🏽
To be honest, I sell my bulk in our annual garage sale. 200 cards (no energies) for $2. I get some money back and kids get cards for cheap. Win win
I don’t know this man but he’s hilarious! Great video
@@Man0War_Loki my man is saying vintage product has never dipped in value 😂
Covid changed a lot of peoples ideas on pokemon.
Like you said I remember the break point ETB sitting at target for like 40-30 dollars back then.
Don’t know how buying multiple guy didn’t know to buy multiples when he’s got multiple crazy eyes 😳
Sets are bigger than they used to be too 😐
Bro why 99% of these investor types own nothing but shit thats come out in the last few years but talking like they've been in the game forever.. its fucking embarrasing.
I mean there are a couple of them that talk a big game and have very average collections. Which is fine, but the words don’t match the hands in those cases
