Hi..Im slowly replacing all parts in my 65 stang coupe. I have owned my car since August 1979. My first car and only car I have ever had and used. Love that you carry everything I need. Thank you, Barbie
really helpful video, just installed mine, wanna say thanks to Jim who helped with the purchase over the phone, finally got my grandads 66 mustang running after 16 years in storage.
Thanks for the Gas Tank Kit and The Video on HOW TO ... I am NOT a mechanic ... but I was able to easily handle this project all alone ... and it actually works properly ...
Thanks for making this video. I just installed a 22 gallon stainless steel tank in my 1965 Mustang, which I purchased from CJ Pony of coarse; and it looks great. Your video took all the guess work out of doing this job. Thanks again. P.S. I love working on these old cars; beats the hell out of working on a modern car. Try switching out a modern car's fuel tank in one hour flat. I'm hoping to make this Mustang my daily driver, as I am sick and tired of messing with modern Toyotas.
@@Guy-mx4fb I installed the larger tank 2 yrs ago, so it's hard to remember what the original was like. From what I can tell, the large tank is higher on the inside; that's where the extra gas is stored. My trunk floor NOW is completely flat inside. If I remember right, the trunk was recessed, when it had the smaller original tank. Personally, I like the inside of the trunk being completely flat, with the large tank. It's a much cleaner look. My trunk is full of stuff; but tomorrow I will try to get a better look; and, if possible, I'll attach a picture for you. Note, the large tank requires a different fuel sending unit. The original sending unit will not fit the large tank. Again, I'll try to get you a picture tomorrow.
@@BEEBEE159 no need you been more than enough help thanks so much,i can buy the tank now more confidently it will fit, everything else i will look for ways to work out out as long as it fits I'm good
Absolutely agree with you. The hose on this car looks pretty bad in the video but wasn't that bad in person. Anytime you upgrade fuel or coolant parts new hoses are a good idea.
Thanks for the feedback Mark. The transcript will give you the major points (along with everything else I say lol) of the install. The manual is not a bad idea, maybe we will consider something like that in the future.
Great explanatory video. I'll be installing a new tank tomorrow and appreciate the guidance from this video. BTW, you don't need music to hold my attention. I'd prefer videos w/o any music. But what would be helpful would be a downloadable manual in a .pdf or word doc that has the major points you went over. The guide would be handy to have while doing the work. Just a thought. Thanks, Mark
Glad to see the tank install you make it simple and quick...Thanks...Now I'd like to see front and rear spoiler install for 69 or 70 Fastback. I have a 70. Thanks
Bill, thanks so much for this video. I replaced the tank in my 1970 convertible this weekend. I bought the premium kit from CJ. Love the free shipping and packaging was first class. Install was a breeze. The amount of gunk in the original tank was downright scary. Now I have a clean, new tank, and my gas gauge works again (old float sank). Keep 'em coming.
I rebuilt my edelbrock carb the other day because I was experiencing problems with start up. It was start but it would slowly stall and just die. Now after the rebuilt, still having the problem. I looked everywhere and some say bad gas is the problem or maybe the fuel tank has a bunch of crap in it. Thanks for the well instructed video. I think I might just get the tank kit and hope it's that. I don't have anyone to help me with my '67 issues but I'm thankful for videos like this.
@@jackinthebox6143 i took it to this mechanic and he adjusted the carburetor. I have no idea how he did it but those two screws in the front is what he did. He wanted $10. I never removed the tank. I stopped driving my mustang 3 years ago. My fuel line was leaking, the power steering line busted, and I had leaky gaskets. Lol. Too many headaches back to back. Got myself a Honda. Hopefully soon i can slowly work on the mustang..
@@georgieman9148 Yeah, I feel your pain. Mine has been off road now for 5 years. I filled the tank with fresh petrol and it was running this last summer. Now the tank is near empty and won't start. I took out the tank ( the bottom bleed screw was stuck). Now, it's back and cleaned out and ready to fill with a 20 litre can of fresh high octane fuel. I'm afraid to go out and start it. If it doesn't I'll be depressed for at least a week. Thanks for replying. Keep the faith! I live in Notting HILL, London and when it works it's a real head turner.
If the sending unit is new and testing correctly, then it could be the wiring. You might have pinched a wire when you installed, or one of the wires just wore out. - Matt B.
Thanks for the feedback. Believe it or not the background music is something we put a lot of effort into. Popular music is not reasonable to use due to royalties so we search for royalty free music and unfortunately even some of the stuff we bought isn't that great. It is something we are constantly looking to improve.
Do you even need the music? I would just as soon not hear it. Just keep up the good content, editing, and good lighting. BTW I liked how you put the rubber hose on first, then inserted the metal fill pipe into it, using gravity to help you.
thanks for the video.. when my gas tank was Installed, my gauge didnt do me any read..it always is under the last quarter.. and I Probed the resistance and its ok... when I discconect the send unit.. the gauge falls as empty... wich could be the problem.. sorry for my bad english .. thanks
Basically the same set up as my 62 comet. The reproduction tank I got for a replacement doesn't have the fuel vent though.. Does that mean it's not necessary?
Is there a certain torque for the mounting bolts to the trunk? What size impact gun would be necessary for use, I'm planning on using one for installing a new tank on my 66 coupe.
Hi, Great video! Really appreciate you guys taking the time to put them together. Question about the strip caulk: should you lay it inside, outside or over the screw holes? Or does it matter? Thanks again!
This may be a dumb question but where can I find strip caulk? I found bathtub sealant but I don't feel like they're the same thing. What brand did you use?
I love these instructional videos! But the crappy background music is very distracting... It reminds me of 80's hard rock meets 70's porno flick music. Come on guys spend some money and buy a better music library.
Bill I'm sure there are a lot of local bands in your area that would give you their music for free just to get it out there and for a thank you credit at the end of the video. Thats what I do when I need to get some music for my vids. Just make sure you get a proper release from them in writing.

Its real easy to replace that cracked fuel line too, while the tank is out...

Does it fit easily or have to make adjustments
@@Guy-mx4fb It fits perfectly, no modifications needed.
@@BEEBEE159 thanks mate! Also does it pop up more inside, cause i also want to put that steel cover they sell that goes over the tank

You make everything look so easy
The 22 gallon from 70 will fit in most models with just some minor necks mods that are easily available online. Sure beats the 16 that most came with.
Can't believe how close the muffler is to the tank without a shield

Did it work? Was it bad gas or something else? I'm having similar problems.

Great video, thanks!
Good video. Would of been a good time to replace the rubber fuel line @ the sender.
Super video! Thank you! One question: are there two hose clamps required on the line to tank "rubber" hose connection?
replace my tank and sending unit, gas guage worked great.after a couple of months its reading empty.any suggestions would be appreciated.
Ok to prime/paint or rubberize the tank before install?
Again thank u for these videos, our 1963 Ford Falcon is pretty much the same so everything on this Mustang is the same.
I'm about to my 64 falcon

Correct! No need for any kinda music on tutorial videos.
I don't have a lift kit. Just 45 degree floor ramp. Do I have enough clearance to install fuel line? Tank is easy but fuel line is another story!
can you make a video about putting in the Quarter Windows and door windows on a 1967 coupe?

If I wanted to paint a new galvanised tank , how would I go about doing it? Mine has a coat of oil or something on it.

Was the gas tank the same color as the exterior of a 65 Mustang from factory?
Hi, Great video! Really appreciate you guys taking the time to put them together. Question about the strip caulk: should you lay it inside, outside or over the screw holes? Or does it matter? Thanks again!
Thank you for the compliment, as long as the tank is sealed to the floor but I usually go with the outside or right over. -Bill
can i swap th 16gal tank (1967) for the 22 gal (1970) tank?
ok so do you guys have a video on how to get the gas back to tye carb becuse im getting no gas to mine
Should I paint the fuel tank before I put it in in order to prevent rust?
They are coated so it is not necessary but you can if you want. Original tanks would not have been painted.
Hello. I have a 1964 ford falcon futura convertible can I replace my gas tank with a 22 gal. tank kit.
Can you do a video where you install 69 mustang fuel tank that has 20 gallons, into a 65 66 mustang. I would like to upgrade to bigger tank
This may be a dumb question but where can I find strip caulk? I found bathtub sealant but I don't feel like they're the same thing. What brand did you use?

No entiendo que dice pero solo ver los pasos se entiende perfectamente
Can someone please tell me how mutch a new gas tank for a 66 mustang would cost ?

*Laughs in 2019 gas at $2.05*

How bout now
how he painted dont use primer use a rubber coat it will keep rust away for way longer then primer will
Yall filed the tank up with water for demonstration right if not I'm gonna cry
But you didn't bother to replace a 40 year-old piece of rubber hose worth fifty cents?
Smart...
