If you read his books you would see that he does give a lot of logical reasons, apart from historical proofs,etc., which does ring a bell. For example if you were to name something after someone, wouldn't you use their full name for it? Why just the last 3 letters? Also the fact that Mumtaz's full name was Mumtaz al-zamani places a confusion on the use of 'Mahal' for a tomb. Oak says that there is no other historical muslim structure with Mahal at its name's end. Also, if named after her, it should have been Taz Mahal, instead of Taj... He says this name came from the distortion of the name TejoMahalay which was a revered Shiva temple...

The theories about Taj Mahal being a Shiva temple began doing rounds when historian P N Oak released his 1989 book Taj Mahal: The True Story. Oak claimed the monument was built in 1155 AD and not in the 17th century, as stated by the ASI, which is responsible for archaeological research, conservation and preservation of historical sites, monuments, artefacts etc. Oak propounded the structure was built centuries before the Mughals invaded India, and claimed the name Taj Mahal was an obscure corrupted form of a Sanskrit term “Tejo Mahalay”.

If you read his books you would see that he does give a lot of logical reasons, apart from historical proofs,etc., which does ring a bell.
For example if you were to name something after someone, wouldn't you use their full name for it? Why just the last 3 letters? Also the fact that Mumtaz's full name was Mumtaz al-zamani places a confusion on the use of 'Mahal' for a tomb. Oak says that there is no other historical muslim structure with Mahal at its name's end. Also, if named after her, it should have been Taz Mahal, instead of Taj... He says this name came from the distortion of the name TejoMahalay which was a revered Shiva temple...
