    I realize I'm only about the 10,000th person to say so, but thank you! Excellent tutorial. Particularly when you initially thread the needle and loop back, piercing the thread and knotting off. Silence and demonstration worked brilliantly where trying to explain that would have been brutal! Thanks again.

    min 5:00, when you make this, you prevent a knot. The two lines running parallel through the hole. I heared that the advantage of this method is, that when one thread is cut, the others stay ok. The thread is only fixed by the pressure of the leather. Do you also use another method? Binding a crown knot e.g. , therefore you have to repeat this step on the same hole with a different arrangement of the needle.

    Perfect timing for this video. I was about to start my first project that required stitching. I liked the tip about crossing the needles and making the 90 degree rotation to start the back stitch. Once you get use to the technique you can get a nice rhythm going. I enjoy all of your videos. Thanks for taking the time.

    Thank you for a detailed close up I’ve been watching countless of videos, my dad started making leather wallets (sadly we’re in two separate states otherwise I could have a one on one with him) and he recorded himself on some threading processing and as a quick visual learner I was understanding a few things just got lost if there was 1 or 2 needles involved. Thank you for easily showing this would’ve saved me time but I also needed to learn more things as well before testing myself

I’ve watched other makers teaching videos, it’s all done by machines! I just want to start with very basics of how to video, to make it the old fashion ways, not machines. It’s Not Handmade then is it! Anyway, Thank You for this very well shown specific educational video, I most sincerely appreciate it. Look forward to viewing the others. Thank you Gary, excellent video ! I am a newbie and have watched quite a few so called instructional videos but none as good as yours. Clear shots and at a speed easy to follow, good plain instructions and the reason for that particular procedure helped me make sense of it. Some of the other youtubers waffle on for hours, with poor editing & focus plus clip the most important bits. Subscribed !

    Selamlar. Lazer kesim ve tasarım atölyesi olarak deri kesimlerinizi hızlı ve temiz bir şekilde kesebiliriz. Hatta yakarak kestiğimizden deri kenarları da kendinden siyah oluyor. Genelde bu tür işlerle uğraşanların istediği bir şey olduğundan dile getirdim. Toplu kesim işleriniz olursa bekleriz. Bu arada elinize sağlık güzel video olmuş. Kolay gelsin.

    What thread and needles do you recommend for a project like you did in this video?

    • @garyipip
      @garyipip  3 роки тому +1

      not something particularly, but I would use smaller thread and needle for small items, such as 100D or 150D for threads; for larger item, us 210D threads. Google John James needles, I think they are pretty decent brand. For threads, I have no idea, I just use what ever I can get a hold of. I've heard Tiger thread, but have never used that, I will definitely try it if I can. Hope it helps.

    In order for 1 knot to form in the middle of the material thickness, the loop on the left side should not be cast in the direction of the seam, but in the opposite direction, "outwards from ourselves". This is how the safety seam can be formed, which creates a knot in the middle of the material thickness.

    I have to agree, its been 7 years since this video was created, and it's perfect now 7 years later. The details and the filming is excellent, thank you so much. I was having an issue with the wrap the thread over the needle counter clock wise, I now understand. The other point I would like to thank you for is telling your viewers like me, what direct your piece should be facing on the stitching pony, front side and back side, this is by far the absolute best video on UA-cam !

    • @garyipip
      @garyipip  4 роки тому

      Hi, Thank you for your comment, one way to harden leather is to soak it with warm water, but it depends on what kind of leather you are working with, it will work on vegetable tanned leather. But the quality of the leather might also matter, another risk is the leather might crack! So make sure you are certain about what type of leather you are working with and know the characteristics of it, happy stitching!!!
