Nice simple boat, beamy, stable, ideal as a mess around boat, sail, row, small outboard, shallow draft to get into remote areas to explore or some fishing, great for kids as well. Very nice design. I like the kiss principal, keep it simple stupid. Very nicely thought out especially for a rank amateur builder with limited skills and tool. Very well done Sir!!!!

Thanks Craig the keep it simple ideas was evolved whilst work with children with behaviour problems to help them focus and possibly find a activity that might improve their skill set got to say it did work with some of the youngsters although when it got to the painting bit it usually got very messy over all it was a positive activity for all involved

Hi Dave, I am impressed with your build. It looks like a very well constructed little boat very well done. I was interested in the construction of the bottom boards are they in two panel sections each side off the keel and again screwed onto bottom. It seems there are other strips used to secure the the rubbing boards on the bottom is that right? I was also wondering how it had performed subsequently in real life and if there are any things you would change in the design? In particular I was curious about the height of your bow board and how it did. Well done again I hope it has served you well..

Hi John sorry for the delay in replying yes the bottom boards are two straps of ply glued and through screwed into the bottom rubber strips have not used them in this boat but they worked OK in a curlew dinghy I built a number of years ago as to how it performed I have not used the dinghy A bit of history about the dinghy design it originally evolved from a boat made for one of the post wartime films I drafted some plans from that boat which I used in as a vocational project whilst teaching behavioral challenged children the modifications I made were a little more shear on the bows and slightly wider beam and more freeboard one of the dinghy made was fitted with a dagger board and rigged for sail and I understand it sailed well and also rowed well I only built mine as a pastime project and will let it go eventually as I am a mature teenager and not upto scrambling about in small boats thanks for you interest

Looks sturdy. Do you think that pvc sheets and pvc baseboards will work on a build like yours?

Don't think so (although never thought or using pvc) best built of a good exterior grade plywood or better still marine ply wood thanks for visiting my channel

      Hi Dave.
Thank you for the video. I love pram bows. I'm looking to build a little, lightweight tender really soon. Maybe this will do! Thank you.
