He has great tone and some cool riffs. I would not call it "amazing", but he is evidently not trying to be the star. He is emphasizing worship to God and that I call amazing. none of these solos are particularly impressive or difficult, they are just great, though, for their purpose. I don't think Niegel has ever put out there the best he can do as a guitar player.
I find it sad that many on here, obviously church people themselves, consider this to be self glorifying etc. ... so what then? should musicians in church play timidly and reserved in order to glorify God with the talent he made us to have. You all have it backwards. 180 degrees backwards. What you should be able to see is a group of people having an absolute blast praising God with music musicians and the rest of the congregation. whether you play like van Halen or whether you play a few gentle chords, the heart you do that with can either be for God or for yourself. The hillsong music ministry has for the last few decades spearheaded music ministry in that style of church congregation. God has blessed that ministry immensely. So I imagine their hearts are set firmly for God and not themselves. Let's check the logs up front before picking at the specks on others, no?
If you think a michael jackson Guitar solo part is to be played in a worship , Holly ( suppose to be ) moment is OK then let’s take everything out there and play in congregation . That’s why Christianity is where it is now , because we backed down , we want to be with the world and with God at the same time
these solos are amazing to me. nigel style in playing is amazing in a way its not very common to hear and it fits to the congregation, until now many church guitarist copy him..hes guitar playing revolutionizes praise and worship today..like dotted 8th...though its still a mystery to me what style his using in 2nd version of hosanna lead part
I've met Nigel in person and had multiple guitar classes with him, and he's totally humble about his amazing talent. It's all about where your heart is at when playing. Ask yourself are you playing to a crowd or are you playing to the Lord?
Man way to kill a brothers' mood, I was really enjoying myself until I read all the negative comments. Nigel and Hillsong in general have done more for the Body of Christ than any of us here combined. Most of the stuff that would pass for 'amazing' is useless and terribly distracting in a worship context. And who has become like God amongst us that can judge a man's heart? Nigel knows how to play n'sync with a vocalist and band producing marvelous worship which is why in my opinion Darlene prefers working with him. Nigel any day brother! Great video
Amazing Nigel! It's still sad to see how only a minority of great guitarists devote their God given talent to God rather than fame. It is my dream to become a great guitarist and play for God alone :D
Even, what we see is a good guitar player showing us his talent. But we don't see the glory of God in it (even when you can say: "hey, he is glorifying God with his talent"). Yes is true, God commands us to be light in dark places, and to do everything for His glory. But never forget this: We must shine with HIS light, and honour and praise God ONLY.
It is hard to remember this. I have tried to remember why i am doing it, while i am playing, but it is hard. (Especially when people cheer you on). So i just think back to a guitarist i saw at a baptist church. When he would do a solo, and people would cheer for him; all he would do was turn around, face the wall, and point up!
it sounds a lot like the opening riff of thunderstruck... and i wouldn't be surprised if the droff did have a little angus young influence too (being australian and all...)
to be the most versatile i recommend what he's using, the duesenberg starplayer tv special. or you could look towards 25" scale guitars such as PRS and get a good amp and pedals after. you should be able to get his tone. :D
SIck! i Love that song!! But guys can you help me. i wanna buy a new guitar. either a fender telecaster, gibson sg or gibson les paul. and i play many diferent kind of music but i play this kind most. what guitar is best for this stuff?
He's not trying to show off and get fans! if he was trying to show off he wouldnt be joining in eith the crowd and the children. just because hes playing a hard solo doesnt mean he is trying to show off cos naturally guitarists enjoy playing hard solo's... AGREED?!
i was just surprised but its ok i guess if its for messing around. and yes in what the world will never take, in the iheart version the thunderstruck riff exists and nigel played it here as well
Guys guys!! Nigel played that from "Beat it," so? Who cares?? Even if he took that solo from it or not, he used it to glorify God. He did not play it for Michael Jackson fame or whatever...
it is questionable, in my opinion. "God owns everything" is a really vague thing to justify it with. especially in worship, all the music should be inspired by God alone. Yes, God created everything, but he gave us free will and our own creativity... and when you grow in christ you learn to discern weather your inspiration is Godly or not. As cool as it sounds, Beat it is not a God inspired song... neither was the guitar riff. worse yet, when I hear it, it brings back memories of things I should not have done when I was not a christian. That is my first alert that that piece particularly did not really originate from God.
I'm all for having fun while worshipping. Rocking out and whatnot. It's not necessarily a bad thing. But people, you have to admit the lights and Beat It riff are a little much, don't you think? Yes, you can say Nigel isn't showing off and doing his part as the electric guitarist, but you can't say that the whole thing isn't more performance oriented than it should've been. Worship shouldn't be more performance than worship. immatting has a very valid point. Try seeing it from his point of view
i feel that a lot of people are trying to take away from hillsong and their popularity, just cause people love their music so much and they have talented musicians who are good at what they do, is no reason to discredit them and accuse them of taking the focus off God They are a great band and they do play for God. I wish people would remember that they are STILL a band and STILL play music for God. there is a whole lot of other music that talks about a whole lot of ungodly things out there.
Would be cool to have the break free solo Jerome! =) And as B00bert said the starting of the solo is from "beat it" of Micheal Jackson, that should save you some time ;) Thnx Psycr0itc
nigel hendroff and lincoln brewster is my truly inspiration to play electric guitar for worship. guys do anyone here know what distortion that nigel use? i wondering to having that sounds too :D
One cant say how people SHOULD worship... If Nigel is seriously playing to worship God for real, s'awesome. If he's playing so he can get fans, then something should be fixed... Everything depends on the attitude of the person. I play electric guitar for worship as well.. I always have trouble remembering the true reason to why i am playing. I believe so many worship electric guitarists have this problem.
@ndnkiwi It's funny that you said that because A week after I watched this video, I heard Lincoln Brewster for the first time lol.... So now Lincoln and Nigel are the best Christian guitarists I've ever heard
3 роки тому
Escuche unos segundos de riff de The edge, ANGUS Young y obviamente el de triller
@MrJackanthony - I had NO idea you had responded... SO sorry for the delay. Lincoln has two DVD's you can google - "1 on 1 with Lincoln Brewster" Vol. 1 and 2. Check out lincolnbrewster . com. Blessings!
Thats true, I'm a guitarist in my church worship team myself and I wouldn't dare do anything like that in a slow song but with fast songs I do tend get a litte carried away, especially at the end. But yeah, its not wrong (unless your heart is in the wrong place, but thats for God to decide) but it would be cool to do anything 'that causes others to stumble'. So yeah, moderation. xD
@MrJackanthony It wouldn't let me put his website in here as a comment...he has two amazing electric guitar instructional dvd's. Type his name in a search engine and it'll bring up his website. He breaks it down nicely, not just how to play his songs and solos, but how to create your own tasteful, musical solos, not to mention great finger exercises and all that. I'm not a beginner either, but I've gotten a ton from watching these...
i hope people see this and encourged to work hard on the skill that god has given to them like nigel has. I'm glad nigel get the chance to show off for god!! guys we need to stop uses that dotted 8 note delay its over the sale by date now.
That is entirely true...
+Juan Cardona I totally agree with you :)
Nailed it
Ironically I think his best playing can be found in his gear demos, lol and even then he holds back.
"He is emphasizing worship to God and that I call amazing."
"TWISTIAN ROCK" IS AN OXYMORON, NOT TO MENTION YACK URINE!
Droff played Beat It during Break Free.... that is FANTASTIC.
beat it 😂
I find it sad that many on here, obviously church people themselves, consider this to be self glorifying etc. ... so what then? should musicians in church play timidly and reserved in order to glorify God with the talent he made us to have.

He played "Beat it" :))!!
Wow! Never seen him shred like that before. 👍🏼
these solos are amazing to me. nigel style in playing is amazing in a way its not very common to hear and it fits to the congregation, until now many church guitarist copy him..hes guitar playing revolutionizes praise and worship today..like dotted 8th...though its still a mystery to me what style his using in 2nd version of hosanna lead part

I've met Nigel in person and had multiple guitar classes with him, and he's totally humble about his amazing talent. It's all about where your heart is at when playing. Ask yourself are you playing to a crowd or are you playing to the Lord?
Right question
Nigel is awesome! God is really using him with that ability the Lord gave Him! Praise God!
Nigel's inspiring and makes it fun. He is cool. God loves him !!
Nigel your awesome on that guitar god bless you guys.
Man way to kill a brothers' mood, I was really enjoying myself until I read all the negative comments. Beat it riff.. i love it!!
Amazing Nigel! It's still sad to see how only a minority of great guitarists devote their God given talent to God rather than fame. It is my dream to become a great guitarist and play for God alone :D
God bless you hi from Honduras
Nigel's the man~! Praise the Lord~
nigel is the best, God bless you nigel.
Even, what we see is a good guitar player showing us his talent. But we don't see the glory of God in it (even when you can say: "hey, he is glorifying God with his talent").
Yes is true, God commands us to be light in dark places, and to do everything for His glory. But never forget this: We must shine with HIS light, and honour and praise God ONLY.
nigel is a beast. so good.
Nigel just got better... extremely better.. He's blessed more...
It is hard to remember this. I have tried to remember why i am doing it, while i am playing, but it is hard. (Especially when people cheer you on). Nigel is great.Skilfully doing it.I envy you man.
the music isnt bad, it is the heart and message in the music
to be the most versatile i recommend what he's using, the duesenberg starplayer tv special.

never thought of droff' playing michael jackson..but is sounded A.W.S.O.M.E
SIck! i Love that song!!

whoa! i didnt knw nigel sings as well!! hahaha. where was this? is there any full video of this? thats nt JD rite?
He's not singing there, he's directing the band
Guys guys!! Nigel played that from "Beat it," so? Who cares?? Even if he took that solo from it or not, he used it to glorify God. He did not play it for Michael Jackson fame or whatever...
God owns everything, right?? So Nigel took that solo from "Beat it..." and he used it to glorify God. It's that simple. It is not disrespect to God..
God owns everything; men just put it in bad ways like michael jackson did. But Nigel, he used it to glory God..
*glorify
it is questionable, in my opinion. "God owns everything" is a really vague thing to justify it with. especially in worship, all the music should be inspired by God alone. Blurryface I think Eddie van halen made that riff not mj
so nice
Alguien tiene el link del concierto completo?
guys!maybe the "break free" solo was his own. i mean like he probably made it up but it jst happened to sound like "beat it" by michael jackson
awesome
I don't like one of the solos bc it seems that he plays notes that aren't in the key. But overall I like his style.
Listen to metal songs. Edi van halen specially. They do it on purpose
He Use Dminor scale/D minor pentatonic on a D major chord progression
what is the dvd these are of? i wanna get the dvd
This guy is a legend
Nigel destrói sem duvida
Guys..... were can i Download this great concert?? Godbless to all....:D

v He is the best hillsong musician
where was this con concerct ?¿ where can i get the video please,,,, !!
where to get full video
I thought nigel did a great job. Very creative with some of these famous riffs. You can use every aspect of music whether good or bad to worship God.
and a sweet guitar it is...
i feel that a lot of people are trying to take away from hillsong and their popularity, just cause people love their music so much and they have talented musicians who are good at what they do, is no reason to discredit them and accuse them of taking the focus off God
They are a great band and they do play for God. I wish people would remember that they are STILL a band and STILL play music for God. there is a whole lot of other music that talks about a whole lot of ungodly things out there.
nigel is the best!!
anyone knows where i could watch the whole video of break free in this video?
dat beat it riff, tho
Would be cool to have the break free solo Jerome! =) And as B00bert said the starting of the solo is from "beat it" of Micheal Jackson, that should save you some time ;)
Thnx Psycr0itc
Where can I get the whole concert?
and he's playing Beat It because it sounds good, and it's fun :)
where do you get this video?
Anyone noticed that at 3:06 nigel strummed the worship leaders acoustic? Dang. xD
@Alex Howell
It's a variation on the original solo from the song What The World Will Never Take by Hillsong United.
Beat it?
1:48 mark! Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!
Who's playing the drums this time?
nigel hendroff and lincoln brewster is my truly inspiration to play electric guitar for worship.
guys do anyone here know what distortion that nigel use? i wondering to having that sounds too :D
Lundy Sebastian JHC morning glory and IbanEz TS9.
@pandaaz that guitar is a couple thousand dollars, lol but i gues if you afford a gibson les paul buying the starplayer should be no problem
What??? Who is they? And I'm talking bout the "Beat it" solo that Nigel played
One cant say how people SHOULD worship... If Nigel is seriously playing to worship God for real, s'awesome. If he's playing so he can get fans, then something should be fixed... Everything depends on the attitude of the person.

oh my goodness he is amazing BEAT iT??! haha wow.

Escuche unos segundos de riff de The edge, ANGUS Young y obviamente el de triller
Good👍👍👍👍👍
What song is that last solo he plays in this video from?
Ah what a shame we don't hear much of the 'Droff anymore. Really cool guitarists who influenced many Christian as well as secular guitarists.
is this a hillsong event?
"Thou should Play Skillfully on the strings" Psalms 33:3. Nigel's one of the best i ever heard.
@MrJackanthony - I had NO idea you had responded... SO sorry for the delay. Lincoln has two DVD's you can google - "1 on 1 with Lincoln Brewster" Vol. 1 and 2. Check out lincolnbrewster . com. Blessings!

nigel's the best guitar player there is for god
Taylor built Nigel's guitar and it's sick , TMG guitars pretty much every Hillsong guitarist has one now
The guys that built Nigel's new guitar are having a massive giveaway!! Check it out! @playaplayamusic on twitter!
Yeah nigel :)
@xNailedDeadRisen
The singing about following the Lord,,,, if thats not religious what is it then?
What does FYI means ??
@MrJackanthony

Donde es esto?
Brasil. Probablemente en Rio de Janeiro
great guitarist,i hope God will give me the same talent, haha
there is nothing wrong with it musically or nothing wrong with playing good. if you make your talent grow then there is no use having your talent
@nvs617 Lincoln Brewster? =)
Ok, time to Beat It!
i hope people see this and encourged to work hard on the skill that god has given to them like nigel has. I'm glad nigel get the chance to show off for god!! guys we need to stop uses that dotted 8 note delay its over the sale by date now.
