You guys need to completely strip all of the panels off of it and tube frame it and add a cage to make it a drift kart
You didn't need to destroy the Miata to build that tho... You just build the tube frame/suspension and buy the driveline from a wrecking yard

My personal preference would be to turbo the 1.6, they can take 12psi without any internal mods. If it's tuned right, that should be around 230~250 bhp! Not bad for for a 1.6. I'm kinda with you about the LS swap but isn't there an Aluminium block LS engine? If so, then that would make for a good swap, even though everything seems to get an LS swap these days, it's become the new Small Block Chevy. My preference for an engine swap would be a big sports bike engine with added boost, something like a turbo'd Hayabusa would be wild in an MX5 (Miata) even before you strip off all the bodywork!

quinnjohn1 Japanese cars don't have v8s. I like to try and keep it where it came from. It's a inline 4 so why not try a 2jz or a rb26. There just as good motors for that car and you keep the parts from its country. You never see (hopefully) a mustang with a b18 Honda engine in it. Because it's Mercian. Not a import. That's how I feel at least

I think the Miata would make a sweet homage to the jaguar d type. Sort out a pod and fin behind the drivers head and a Perspex hemisphere wind screen to suit, before coating it all in British racing green or emblazoning it with the Union Jack. A Japanese Jaggg to rival the Stars and Stripes German BMW, now that would be cool. Alternatively a cobra roll bar would be another option

1.6L miata owner weighing in here. I think you should junkyard turbo it once you figure out the overheating, just slap a shitgauge with a good thermo probe. Make a janky coolant reroute to pipe the rad cold water directly into the back of the head and then actually fill/bleed it with water, often miatas like to hold air in the system and it takes forever to properly bleed 'em.

Diesels suck tho... They don't like to rev, can't rev quickly and weigh way too much. Any gas powered V8 would be better. Add boost like you HAVE to with a diesel and you instantly have a better end result
