He may have been a top class chef but he was a world class comedian as well. If I ever feel low I watch this and suddenly life feels good again. Thank you Keith.
And now we have PC Ramsey who continuously takes the piss out of the English, whilst at the same time telling people that all other people are superior to us. I have just watched 4 videos by GR and all he did was say how shit the English are!!!
Floyd was no chef, he was very much an untrained home cook (despite being a restaurateur), and proud of it! He'd have had no time for the pomposity and pretension of Ramsay and other Michelin starred chefs including his admirers/imitators Rick Stein and Gary Rhodes. This marvellous clip captures Floyd's fantastic, self deprecating, don't give a fig spontaneity. He was a TV natural and a star - we shall not see his like again.
He was one off, they don't really let people like this on telly anymore, He moved with the times as well he didn't stay still. That is why he was and is always relevant.
Get the Roman specialist from the pub get drunk then try the food. It tastes like crap (overcooked) so they just throw it away. He was so honest. Could you see a stuck up chef in this day and age do that!
every now and then i watch a keith floyd clip as an ode to my wonderful mother ,she adored him ,i picture them having a drink together on the other side ..cheers !
Mr Keith Floyd was a great entertainer all of his shows were fantastic to watch, nobody else comes close to this top diamond geezer, it's Keith Floyd first the rest nowhere
The Galloping Gourmet in this part of the world was Graham Kerr .[NZ].. who was also a flamboyant cook...& also Hudson & Halls. .ua-cam.com/video/WzU0_s8CZ1M/v-deo.html www.stuff.co.nz/entertainment/tv-radio/88504011/graham-kerr-tvs-kiwi-galloping-gourmet-now-moves-at-a-slower-pace
You had me laughing and I really needed that today. Excellent video! Thank you for enduring the elements to bring us this video. Excellent ... just excellent!!!!
I only caught him in passing as a kid but I find him mesmerising today. The stream of consciousness. The disregard for conventions of television (especially at the time).
@James Carmichael The song is called Viva Vlad by The Stranglers. Most of the songs on Keith's show are Stranglers songs so that should make them easier to find.
@7:30 on: "My dear fellow - feel free to be edited", LMAO! This little campfire scene at Hadrian's Wall is a gem. It really captures the essence of Keith Floyd, and what made him so loved by viewers - hilarious, self-deprecating, highly intelligent, and above all a 'people person'. The food, as we see here, is almost incidental. It's merely the conduit through which he connected with others and shared his enthusiastic view of life and the world, of which eating was a part. Above all, people tuned in for a big portion of Floyd. He never disappointed, and always left you hungry for more - the man was irresistible. What a big loss his presence is to TV cooking, and to television generally. Who occupies his telly slot today? Professional performers like the shouty, potty-mouthed Gordon Ramsey, laddish Essex-boy Jamie Oliver with his well-worn, Mockney-geezer act, and cutesie Nigella, licking her fingers lasciviously in her mocked-up home kitchen. Or there's the charmless John Torode and Gregg Wallace (the latter a former greengrocer, now permanently suspended from 'Masterchef' and I suspect all TV, for his nasty off-camera behaviour around women), both men equally unexciting. Having met Keith Floyd in the late 1990s as a wet-behind-the-ears TV producer, I can report he was absolutely genuine, fully himself, and a real gentleman. He did however run up a HUGE bill at the hotel bar where I'd booked a night's stay for him and his wife, a headache presented to me the following morning by the hotel manager after Floyd's chauffeur car had vanished up the motorway (apparently Floyd had announced to all present "The drinks are on the BBC!" and full advantage was taken). My experiences with the great man are a story for another post! Keith Floyd could be poaching an egg or preparing a lavish banquet, whatever he did was an event because he was the star attraction. It was his charisma, a powerful, natural quality sadly lacking in his successors, that made him so beloved - and so badly missed in the 21st Century.
he's such a wonderful mess, culinary wikipedia and passionate foody.... gotta love this guy. wish we had tv cook's like in the dreadful bore that is the food network.
1st time I have seen this but the last 3 minutes is one of those moments we have with someone where you just make each other laugh .. bless your heart Keith .. thanks for the laughs and great TV. 👍🫶
If he put the camp oven to the side of the coals rather than right on top, it would have cooked slower and ended up rather nice. He ruined it by boiling and burning it! Haha!
I love this and I I don't know why but this makes me a little sad and melancholy. Maybe yearning for the past when everything seemed simpler and more wholesome. Also has my favourite Stranglers track, Viva Vlad.
I'm watching this 23rd December 2019......and I still miss floyd.i grew up with his cooking...him and the galloping gourmet...!!!!!!......ok ok,I know, your much too young.!!
The Galloping Gourmet in this part of the world was Graham Kerr .[NZ].. who was also a flamboyant cook...During his 1960s heyday, which began with a show in New Zealand before he landed in the US, Kerr was known for injecting extra fat into already well-marbled roasts and offering vegetables only as a garnish. www.stuff.co.nz/entertainment/tv-radio/88504011/graham-kerr-tvs-kiwi-galloping-gourmet-now-moves-at-a-slower-pace ..
Graham kerr.....what a legend.......even before our tv chefs.inc Keith floyd.......maybe I have got that wrong..?...but I do remember him being on english tv at the time.maybe 1974.,/75...
There is a lot of people on here talking about the link between keith and Stranglers. My understanding is this: When he had one of his earlier restaurants he decided live music would be part of it. He got a young lad to play, maybe more, that turned into the Stranglers. I'm not sure who. but Hugh Cornwell rings a bell. Since then they have been helping each other like you should to good friends. Their can certainly not be accused of being disloyal to your mates.
I love cooking and eating hot food outdoors in cold weather. Unfortunately, I don't often get that opportunity. It's usually just "being" outdoors in freezing cold weather.
He may have been a top class chef but he was a world class comedian as well. If I ever feel low I watch this and suddenly life feels good again. Thank you Keith.
So true!! Watching this now haha Mr Bedford
And now we have PC Ramsey who continuously takes the piss out of the English, whilst at the same time telling people that all other people are superior to us. I have just watched 4 videos by GR and all he did was say how shit the English are!!!
Same. Always makes me smile

A historian too
That last minute of this is sublime.
The historian is trying so hard to not say it's hideous, bless him
I still watch this clip about once a year. It cheers me up but also makes me sad at what we've lost for entertainment in the current world. RIP boys!
lol love the dog noise when he throws something.
howwrrrrrr
Once in a while you find absolute magic that makes you cry with laughter. Brilliant
Keith was pure fun and entertainment, oh yes and a brilliant chef,,,,his shows were great, thanks Keith and RIP 😢❤
He was one off, they don't really let people like this on telly anymore,
He moved with the times as well he didn't stay still. That is why he was and is always relevant.
"my dear fellow feel free to be edited" LOL
Utterly glorious. I always feel at my best in a kitchen when I try to channel that Floydesque energy.
I don't often say this about anybody but Keith was one of a kind and I miss his presence in this world.
me too
Bill oddie, palin,Floyd, david Attenborough, the peak of entertainment
I love the ending to this. It's like they are two old friends. God bless KF.
I would have loved to have shared a moment like that with Keith. RIP.
badbadleroybrown yes it would of been a fantastic experience
Get the Roman specialist from the pub get drunk then try the food. It tastes like crap (overcooked) so they just throw it away. He was so honest. Could you see a stuck up chef in this day and age do that!
Keith made me the chef I am today. God is happy he has him as a chef.
A drunk chef?
@@Abnsdllnnlosnfd Look at the world around you. God is obviously a drunk as well! God bless us all!
@@Abnsdllnnlosnfd Sounds like heaven to me.

Lovely memories. Keith was brillant.
First thing I've seen from the BBC in well over 15 years that I've actually liked.
"Feel free to be edited!" Absolute legend!

The boys are pissed. Love this.
"These are ....people? or birds?"
Classic.
The one and only. Keith was a legend. Miss TV like this.
Happy days 😂👍🏴
BBC should've hired this guy to play Dr. Who. He acts more eccentric than any of the other guys who played the Doc.
David Tennant the best doctor
I'm not sure anybody has been more eccentric than Tom Baker.
@@sureshot8399 I used to hide behind the sofa when Tom baker came on. He instilled a primal fear. In daleks and cybermen too.
Remarkable man....our best TV chef ever.
1:48 the plate being thrown and the dog yelping is too funny omg
You had me laughing and I really needed that today. Excellent video! Thank you for enduring the elements to bring us this video. Excellent ... just excellent!!!!
The main man and a true legend !!!!
the dog barking at the exact time he throws the bowl is just the cherry on the cake for the video, great
This is one of my favourite Keith moments.
Always good to see a failure instead of everything working out perfectly all the time. So refreshing. Or should I say, "Just brilliant!"
I only caught him in passing as a kid but I find him mesmerising today. The stream of consciousness. The disregard for conventions of television (especially at the time).
Great character and a legend.
RIP Keith :(

Keith, sir, you are a true legend.
I miss you.
the funnist scene in Keiths shows LOVE IT
He may have been a shit businessman, father and husband but what a pleasure to watch. The last thirty seconds are golden.
Brilliant
I ❤️ this surly old drunk.
Truly wonderful stuff. Keith enjoying himself. Thank you.
Floyd was a legend
He's pissed out of his head. Hahaha :)
Matt Parr Always on the sauce bless him... x

Go Keith,your a star
Bravo, Keith ! Hilarious stuff !
Just read his autobiography .." shaken not stirred" Highly recomended !. A big insight .
he's such a wonderful mess, culinary wikipedia and passionate foody....
gotta love this guy.
wish we had tv cook's like in the dreadful bore that is the food network.
foody, possibly the most annoying food word there has ever been. Floyd would have hated that.
wonderful show
I really miss that great chef

Definitely. I would buy it.
I never grew up watching this or even grew up in the same country, but I love his videos. We really need true entertainers again

I love it when the English talk about the Romans.
Brits love all things Roman. Seems like they love it more then French, Germans maybe even the Italians.
