This Heat Is DESTROYING Our Van & VanLife Europe Is OVER

- This week things quickly start to go wrong as the heatwave that’s gripping Europe right now is literally making our van fall apart.
And that’s not the only thing that’s upsetting us because after three months exploring France, Belgium and Spain, we’re finally being forced to head back to the UK. And we have to move pretty quickly to avoid the wildfires that are ravishing parts of southern France.
But it’s not all doom and gloom as we discover some really cool places to stop as we make our way back towards the euro tunnel and make the most of our last week in Europe.
If you have any questions about this week’s journey, how we do what we do, or anything else, please ask away in the comments.

💕Not enough water will make those leaves fall off BUT will get root rot & die if no drain holes💕YOUR plant needs a bigger pot & soil suitable for succulent’s (3 parts soil 1 part coarse sand or poultry grit) pot must have drain holes water💕My house is full of those plants💕
We can’t have a bigger pot unfortunately! With both plants though we’re separating them out when they get too large for the pot and giving the nee ones away. Lots of our family have got them all over their houses as well 😅 They actually sell for about £4.99 here so maybe we’ll make a side hustle out of it!
Brilliant video guys
Thank you 😊

Awwwwww... the end. For now! My impression for much of the UK is that folk have an ownership thing about space and land and they want to either 'keep the beggars out' or 'let 'em pay for the privilege' ... Up here in Scotland it is a bit different and even though lot of the land is privately owned, there is a freer attitude to free-camping or at least nominal or honesty-box charges for overnighting. Anyway; hope you are enjoying the heatwave that has come upon us all and that at least is lifting your spirits. Looking forward to the van vids; and as ever, throwing an etherhug Ady's way!!! YAM xx
Yes exactly that. It’s a really complicated debate because there are so many layers to it including space, limited amenities & funds, and yes a few irresponsible van users, but ultimately it just means it’s hard and expensive to be in a van over here. Scotland is definitely the best part of the UK we’ve experienced for vanlife and we’ve really enjoyed our trips up there. If only the rest of the Uk could follow suit. Anyway, we’ll enjoy being with family and try forget about all that for now. Hugs from all of us and see you in a few weeks ❤️
Enjoy the break I look forward to the next vid but completely understand why u need a break that trip round France and Spain was amazing
Thank you, won’t be too long until we’re back, just gonna enjoy the downtime for now. See you in a few weeks 😊
@@TheWholeWorldorNothing glad to hear it 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I absolutly love your videos guys. I totally feel the love and hate relationship with Uk. I am from Hungary, living in the Uk...I feel this way with both cuntry. I hope to see you soon in your videos. Xx
Hello from my tiny little home in the comments section !
Glad a used pvc for my roof and clading walls.
Ha yeah, much lighter. We know where we went wrong though and it should 🤞be a simple enough fix, although will probably involve taking down about 3/4 of the ceiling cladding. We’ll get there!
@@TheWholeWorldorNothing there never finished these builds lol
Absolutely! Never ending. Saying that, have you got far to go on yours now?
@@TheWholeWorldorNothing A finished mine then got low fuel pressure fault serviced it and wouldnt run found out to be injector related replaced them and pump to found out my van timming has jumped so new engine time am scunnered
The trouble is the UK is so small with a population of 68 million. During the summer the demand for camp sites has pushed up the prices. Can you believe renting a static caravan in or around Skegness cost over £700 per week!!!! (Starting price) Plus the small minority who dump rubbish everywhere and cause a nuisance for locals means the free parking spots are getting shut down, with the dreaded "No overnight parking signs" popping up like their breeding.
I know a few cheeky parking spots but the minute I share them with one person they seem to tell everyone else and then a new sign pops up stopping overnight parking.
I've got a parking space at the back of my house on a rough plot of land I used to let people stay on for a couple of nights at a time. But that got abused, so I stopped offering it to people.
My mate stores his camper in one spot year round for free and the rest is getting very overgrown.
I still let a hand full of people park on my driveway overnight when they need somewhere for the night, as they are passing through but it's got a bit of passing traffic during the night. So not ideal.
Yes definitely, it’s very different in the larger European countries with a more spaced out population. And the lockdowns have just increased the pressure on all of the popular spots here too. £700 for a static in Skegness is madness but unfortunately that’s where we are. And that’s without talking about the irresponsible few. It’s a really hard problem to solve and ultimately why we’ve found things are so much easier in Europe, sadly. Not that it’s not without its problems!
Ooo where was the air bnb in France with the pool please ❤
Another awesome video. I don't own a van but its stuck me whacking various youtubers how rubbish the uk is at van parkups compared to the continent.
Ps arsenal a have respect for being a rangers lad 🇬🇧👌
Good Park ups, loved following. Don't be away to long. It enjoy the break. Love to all. X
Thank you, we’ll just be a few weeks we promise 😀
Excellent adventures guys really enjoyed your journeys. See you all soon 👍🏾🙏🏿
Thank you very much, catch you soon😀
Have loved following your journey, all the beautiful places and knowledge you have shared. Enjoy your break and looking forward to your next adventure
Thank you that’s lovely to hear. We’ll catch you soon 😀
Enjoy your break! Please make the most of time with friends and family, lots of hugs! May you find joy and blessings in being back home.
Thank you very much, we will try our best to make the most of it and look forward to catching up very soon 😊
Best van build video! I'm taking notes about glue and heat. Thank you!
Yes we made the mistake of not screwing the batons in as well but to be fair to us we never expected such high temps! Glad you enjoyed the van build 😀
I'm going to miss your videos 😟. Enjoy your break and will look forward to seeing what you post when you're ready.
Thank you, we’ll be back very soon 😀
Ram-a-jammed! New phrase of the year 😊 sad that you guys are not going to be posting your videos for a while - I’ve honestly enjoyed watching them so much. I also know what you mean regarding coming back to the UK after travelling, I found it pretty depressing. Driving on the continent is so different, the roads on the whole are much better, there is so much less traffic and peoples attitudes are nicer in the countryside. The aires too are amazing! Can’t wait to go again, though it is probably going to be next year now before our van build is ready. Thanks for the vids guys, think I’ll screw the cladding up 🤣
Ah thank you so much, we really appreciate it and we will be back in a month or so hopefully. That’s exactly it, living in a van is just so much more complicated in the uk. Plus we’re not fans of the unpredictable weather 😅 Maybe we’ll see you in Europe next year when your new van’s finished 🙌
@@TheWholeWorldorNothing That would be awesome, we met some amazing and lovely people when we were travelling and are still in touch with a lot of them. Enjoy yourselves catching up with your families ❤️
Definitely one of the beautiful things about travelling. Thank you 😊
💕As your van is coming apart almost you could rebuild it to accommodate ady’s bed💕
Great video each one gets better, doing a great job to keep cool I used to do the same things when my kids were young, love it keep it up, a great new mum and dad......
Ah thank you very much, really appreciate it 😊
Great vid guys. Followed for a ages now and you helped me with my build so much. We returned from Portugal and had the same issue with the cladding contracting. Fortunately returning to Britain it has now back to normal. Look forward to new format and vids. Enjoy your break stay safe ❤👍
Just chuckling about you putting your jeans on. IF ONLY!!!!! You've missed all of the heat here in the UK. It's been a scorcher. We have had some shrinkage in our van too. With regards to your stick on tiles, ours didn't like the heat and kept bubbling off, so I took them all down and put some of our leftover hygienic board from our shower over the ply and then re tiled. Seems to have worked so far.
Haha, yeah we’re back to shorts again now! The shrinkage is definitely really common so we’re not too worried about it. We’re hoping we’ll just be able to stick our tiles back down, fortunately it’s only at a couple of edges that they’ve come up and they’ve not bubbled like yours. Sounds like you came up with a great solution though, we’ll bear that in mind in case we need to copy, thanks for the tip 👍🙌
Late to the party for once. Loved the warts and all vlog. Nothing too serious and just teething problems. I'm already looking forward to the Upgrades Vlog ;) Safe travels.
Yeah everything is fixable more or less. We were talking about how you put your awning up after it happened actually and reckon that it would probably have stopped most of the issues we’ve had as there wouldn’t have been direct sunlight on the inside of the van. Don’t think we’re gonna stretch to an awning in the upgrades though 😀 Catch you in a few weeks!
There are cheaper options and I notice the price rose by £110 since I bought mine. Have you looked at driveaway awnings? They are much more reasonably priced.
I've got a couple of months left of being sat on an abandoned old school site as security with my dogs so should get most things finished before I'm out on the road.
Did you see the washing machine video I did? I actually thought of you guys with Ady now and how you might find it useful. It's certainly been a game changer for me.
Hope you enjoy a well earned break with family and friends and don't let the UK get you down. Thanks for sharing the last 3 months, it gave me a lovely look at Spain, I reckon you'll miss the food more than the weather. Take care.
We’ve noticed that about quite a few bits and pieces from our build too - the prices have just gone through the roof it’s incredible. We did consider a drive away awning but don’t think we have space to store it. We might have done before Ady… 😅
We saw the first washing machine vid you did and started watching the second but have yet to finish it. Will go back and do that later but it looked really good. Not seen a washing machine like that before!
We’ll catch you in a few weeks anyway, take care.
Can't blame you for not liking the UK as we can't even go for a day out in our van as its no camper vans or height barriers on most of the car parks, hope you enjoy your break with your family x
It’s unbelievable how difficult it is to have a van in the uk, as you say so many attractions have height barriers, Town car parks, supermarkets, it’s just not very appealing 😅
I forgot to ask, what was the name of the 1st village you stopped at the 'Roman' 2 mins in, I am planning a trip (nearly finished my conversion, watched all your build videos ) and planning some interesting stops on my way down to Spain.. thanks in advance
Oh wow great to hear, send us some pics of your finished conversion we’d love to see it 😀 Yeah of course, the town was called Medinaceli, definitely worth a stop off, tiny but absolutely stunning!
❤️👍
Cant beleave use are under 10k subs
Quality first but I agree, such a lovely family ;)
We don’t really worry about the subs, we’re just really happy with and appreciative of the community we have discovered here and the people like you that keep coming back regularly - it’s so lovely to chat with likeminded people who get what we’re doing, we feel like we’ve made so many friends on here 😊
@@TheWholeWorldorNothing Yeah get what you mean. But there channels out there that have crazy amount of subs dont make sense at’s all!
Wtf, you have a baby living in that Oven? What are you doing? Its too hot m8
If you were paying attention you’d have seen that we left the van and went and sat in air conditioned places until it was cooler to go back in when the temps got hot
What an ignorant comment to make to two such doting parents with a huge experience of visiting hotter climates. You assumed the wrong name.....
