Can you just put in a another IDE disk drive or do you have to do the SATA upgrade for this to work? My OG has a bad drive I was looking to replace it

I just messed up the bios on my old stock hdd i have in my xbox so now everytime i boot it its stuck on the boot screen... but it is TSOP and has Evo X, If i get a hexen disc and plug up a bigger drive will i be able to use it as my new drive?

For Xbox homebrew games, which emulator do we use? I have Xbox homebrew zip files and I just don’t know where to put them, there’s no emulator that’s labeled homebrew but I do see a “Homebrew Games” selection in my main menu but of course it’s empty, thanks for your time.

I tried to use Chimp to clone the old PATA drive to the new SATA but it kept locking up. I'll try this method when I get a chance.

How do you tell the difference between a 40 pin and 80 pin ide cable? And does it still work but slower or smth with the old 40 pin cable? I have a few ide cables lying around but i really don't know how many pins they are ... also, I'm using a crystal clear xbox so I kinda wanna use a nice looking (colored or black) black cable to make the build still look nice. Kinda want to replace my hdd with an ssd tho instead of another hdd.

80 pin is gonna have very thin wires compared to the 40. will be the same with and ends though.
