Hi there I have a bmw 5 series e60 2008 ccc drive with the 30 pin connector but will that be able to play audio as I'm hearing mixed views
That iPod classic has a hard drive inside it right under the back cover. The magnet may damage or erase it...
What app did you use to connect to the BMW Connected drive? My F15 asks to connect to the app but the app is not available anymore so does that mean the functionality has gone? Does yours still work

Hi, Thanks for the great video. I have the iPhone 5 kit in my MINI and I desperately need to upgrade the phone. BMW don't make the phone kits for phones more recent than iPhone 7 and don't supply a universal cable to fit the lightning port on an iPhone. I would really appreciate it if you could send me a link to the female to male lightning cable adapter. thanks
Hi Mark. Thanks for watching the video and your comments. I can only source a long cable to fit the female lighting to male connector, this works fine on BMW armrests but isn’t ideal on Mini armrests, it is too long to shut the lid down. I can send you one to try? I now make a mini specific adapter with a lightning to 30pin, 30 pin to lightning usb cable, and a short charging cable, ideal for the mini armrest, if you want to send me your cradle I’ll adapt it for you and just charge you for the parts and postage? Do you no what adapter will fit into my new bmw mini with snap in adapter in the arm rest? I have a iPod classic 160gb. There are just some many versions with the 30pin adapter in it. Any of would be great thanks
neil200830 hi, my wife has a mini F56 and the adapter I’ve shown in my video fits in her car as well. There’s no reason it shouldn’t fit in yours. agentgb yes you could try that as I don’t like to give out details as it not private on you tube. Just sent me the link and we can message privately or inc a pic with your email address on as part of the pics or inc it somewhere in the pic as eBay is funny about emailing address and stuff.

I'm amazed there isn't an aftermarket mini 'adapter' which fits on the pin/connectors within the tray, that then has the respective USB connectors attached.
I'm after USB-C for my Mini F54 and hoping to avoid buying the Mini OEM tray...which looks to be a just a USB cable and plastic tray :-(

I’ve ordered and waiting for a 30pin Bluetooth adapter to arrive, that might just be the answer and a quick fix to make use of these older cradles. Neil Wildy Hi, back to the drawing board I’m afraid. I’ve played around with the Bluetooth set up and realised that my phone was actually connected to the cars inbuilt Bluetooth and not the new 30 pin adapter. I can connect to the adapter but just can’t get it to send the music signal to the car. Scratching my head with how to get this sorted. I’ll let you know if I work it out. Thanks again
@@agentbarnesgb Hi there, no worries. I've been giving some thought too... I'm going to buy an old one off ebay (as long as it has useful USB connectivity of some kind, i.e., not the old Nokia type) and strip it down to the pure adapter and board. I know a couple of electronic types who I hope can work out the connections. If they can, I can solder a generic USB socket.

It was a 2015 facelift model
So the newer cradle that has the fan, was that originally a 30pin cradle that you have fitted a lightning connector to?
Hi Jamie. There are two ways of doing this, either with the old 30pin, with things like an iPod, or with the newer lightning connection. If yours is the lightning then you can fit a magnet holder and an extension cable to the lightning connector on your phone, it enables you to fit any iPhone to the cradle and still benefit from charging and using the BMW apps.
Ah, so you use a female adaptor cable that takes the male 30 pin connector into a male lightning end? Great idea and if your car is a pre LCI model 6 series like mine those apps all appear on idrive 😮. I think I will be doing the same as iPhone 4 and 5 cradles are a fraction of the price of 6/7 ones.

I have made a rookie mistake in buying an iPhone 4 cradle to use with my iPhone 8. But the adaptor taking the 30 pin to lightning only allows power, no data transfer. I am guessing the oldest version that would open up all the features from my iPhone 8 would need to be for an iPhone 5?

Hi again. Here’s a link to a 30 pin usb cable adapter, if you have a normal phone charger cable it should work with this. I’ve used the set up in mine with an iPhone and it works well. Thanks again

Thanks. What is the benefit of using the snap in adapter vs a regular bluetooth connection?
Hi. As far as I can tell, when I’ve switched from one to another, the volume and clarity of the adapter music increases. The BMW Connect Drive app works better in the adapter and with more app functions. This is on my 2015 car so may be slightly different if your vehicle is newer. I’m just waiting on a 30 pin Bluetooth adapter to arrive to see if I can integrate the Bluetooth option on the adapter, I’ll post that one when I get the Bluetooth adapter. Hope that helps?
I have samsung galaxy s20 ultra or I could connect my old phone Samsung s9 is there anything for android with c type port?
I have connected this 30 pin to usb connector to one of the cradles, you could then connect a usb to c type cable to connect to your Samsung.

You can get a universal adapter with a micro USB. Then to the phone end you can add a micro USB to C type. That's what I did and it works.
You can do all of that just by using the usb port instead of buying an adapter…
