This is how I got back into the hobby in february. Brought old boxes from the 90s from my mom's basement home and found some great stuff and in really good condition.
Mint Hunter Comics, that was a great find and no rats ate the books in the attic. I had a TMNT#1 when i was a kid and i colored in the book and i could keep myself for it but i think my dad burned all my old toys and stuff years ago and i know i had a signed Adam West Batman poster,i could cry right now knowing all the keys and valuable toys i had that are gone now.
Letter from the ex is equivalent to the poisonous snake that appears when digging through buried treasure. Regarding misplaced comics, my parents knew not to go near my comics, so I always knew where all my comics were at all times. I have misplaced a binder full of various trading cards from the early 1990s. When I was going through stored boxes over the summer, I came across my Star Wars cards from the late '70s, but no binder. I threw out a bunch of empty binders about six years, and I'm starting to think that one of those binders wasn't empty.
@@MintHunterComics lol one if my tradgedies was I skipped on buying so many binders full as a teen because I didn't play. I liked the art but skipped on them kuz art wasn't good nuff reason ?
All star comic #8 bought for maybe 50 cents at a garage sale in early to mid 80s, came back 8.5 two decades ago from CGC, was considered restored because of pressing! I sold for 8k because of restoration value at the time….
As a kid, I bought Hulk 180 and 181, took it to my grandparents house to read and left them over there on accident. When I went back to get them a few weeks later, she said she didn't know what happened to them. I thought about trying to buy them again, but when I only got a $1 or so when my parents/grandparents took you to the flea market, I wanted to buy the new comics since I had already read the two Hulk issues. Yeah, I was a stupid kid.
I just traded for a direct She Hulk 1 and I have been bitching and groaning to myself about how I should’ve waited for a newstand.. so I think you just made my day. I think…? How sure are you about this? Haha
Great finds! Though you were scaring the hell out of me with that tape! Lol I thought for sure it was going to snag a cover at some point. Hope you and the fam are doing well and the house is coming along.
Dude I agree. this is why I don't use tape and never store them like this anymore. Plus I would never put multiple books in one bag anymore.. What wasI doing back then? lol
Those green lanterns get no love from hobby. My ex wife collected green lantern back in 1995 and those issues where 50 cents each. Still not worth anything
Camera with lens about $90. My worst comic loss was when I had a box of comics by a water heater, water heater burst and ruined Daredevil Frank Miller run. Never do that again!
I always wanted a Nick Fury Agent of Shield #6 with a classic Jim Strenko cover as a kid. Finally found one in nm at Mike's Colosseum Comics back in the early to mid 80's. Got home with it and took it out of the bag and looked through it. Left to go use the bathroom and when I came back my older sister had set a glass of soda with ice on the comic. Put a water ring halfway through the book. when I complained to my mother all mom said was it was MY fault for leaving it out! WTF!
Grew up reading and tossing around 90s books. No keys, but definitely had that Superman blue cover. I may have been the only person who liked that whole storyline.
My parents threw everything of mine away that I didn't take with me when I moved out as an adult, or sold it at garage sales. I have very little left of anything I actually had as a kid. I had to buy it all over again now that I can afford most of it.
Younger me was not smart enough to buy a copy of Savage She-Hulk back then. Even older me wasn't smart enough to get a previously cheaper copy at my LCS before the news of the show being announced.
Nice! I ended up finding 2 of my comics that I thought were under my bed in a box out in a plastic tote on my balcony. That tote was sitting in the corner for 7 years with what I thought was just textbooks. It survived 7 Canadian winters (thanks Rubbermaid). The books were my Hulk 180 and 340. I felt so stupid but they ended up fine. Got them CGC graded. 180 got 7.5 white pages and the 340 got 9.4. To say I was lucky is an understatement.🤙🏻
Speaking of attics, I will never ever keep comics in an attic again. When I was a kid, I kept my 80s comics in our family attic and my dad's 50s funnies comics were there as well. One day, I went to check on them and I found that the box was damaged. A squirrel had apparently used the comics to build a nest. Mine were pretty much all ok, but nearly all of my dad's were wiped out.
A good few years ago I was very low on cash , my youngest son's birthday came around and he said he wanted pokemon cards if possible... I really didn't want to let him down so I went to my comic box and pulled out some nice '60's batman comics to go and trade at the comic shop in town.. . I got him his cards, around 5 packs, but they cost a fair handful including Batman # 181 ( first poison ivy )... who knew that the price on that would go so crazy? The grade would've been pretty high including the poster. Turns out that he wanted the cards to trade & sell, I was gutted !

I sold a bunch of comics back in 2008, including Giant Sized X-men 1 (ouch), ASM 300, to name a couple. However, I thought I had X-men 101 but couldn't find it. I just found it this year during a move, it was sandwiched with some other books in a "hobby" box. No idea how it got there, but it's still a 8.5 or 9.0 .. sent it off to CGC and so thankful I lost it for a while.. :)
I am currently missing a box of comics that has 3 omega reds, a she hulk 1, and a few miscellaneous green lantern keys, I may have left em at my buddy Jimmy’s parents house…🤔 lol in all seriousness, great find man!! Love that Omega Red book!
About 24 years ago I had a very little amount of comics. My brother bought me a Spawn action figure and the Spawnmobile for my birthday or X-Mas. These toys came with a comic specific to the toy. I have always remembered having them but definitely did not have them any more. So, this last X-Mas I head back to my hometown and my brother had mentioned he had a couple boxes of comics I could have. We sit down to go through them and not too deep into the collection he hands me both of the Spawn comics. He ended up having Spider-Man 2099 1 in hi grade plus X-Men 4 & 5 in hi grade. There was a handful of other minor key comics I cant remember right now. Early X-Men vol 2, Uncanny X-Men, a sealed copy of Darker Image 1, lots of number 1’s of really random titles. Never came across any Wolverine that he swears he has, which might also explain why I never found the Wolverine books I know that I once had. Hopefully theres another box or two next time Im in town. I gave him a couple hundred bucks and wished a Merry Christmas.
@@MintHunterComics it really is I wish I could find one we only have two comic book stores where I stay and they are usually already picked dry so no chance of finding things like that here lol
My pokemon cards are missing as well and my mom or brothers won't fess up to where they went! Right now the comic that I have no idea to as where it is at is my Detective Comics 35. Detatched cover, missing pages and no back cover, but I got it when I turned 13 bidding it up on ebay. Had to go around and ask for money instead of gifts. lol
Holy crap dude! What an amazing find! All I know is there has to be some NES/SNES/Gameboy games and some 80's toys likt He-Man and Transformers stuff somewhere in my parents attic....
I worked in a camera store for 25 years, that Olympus isn't worth much. Keep it on a shelf as a curio, but toss that cheap non-multicoated filter that's on it now. You could also check to see if there are any night schools or community colleges in the area offering photography classes and in need of film cameras and donate it to them. Or give it to charity and deduct the value of the camera from your taxes. That won't be much.
That's an amazing find. Not remotely the same thing, but I can't seem to find my first appearance of the Omega Men, it's the only comic I've misplaced in decades. It's absolutely baffling.
Worst book I ever lost/misplaced is ASM #4 from... 2014? The first full appearance of Silk. I have ever other issue of that run, and I know I scooped that one up off of the shelf. Kills me that I've lost it.
One of your best vids to-date. I felt I was there with you but I was actually screaming with excitement each time the bell rang! Kudos to your folks on "throwing" in their attic. Mine were thrown in trash without me knowing 😖😢 Luved vid 😄👍
Kind of a similar situation I had; I would put in 5-6 books per bag by title to save money and every 5,6,7 years I would refresh them with new bags/boards. While doing so I would look up prices in a new overstreet guide and if any book was valued $10 or more it got it's own new bag and board. After finding that most of the books were between $5-$10 I finally came across 2 copies of NM 98 in NM+ and was very happy to see they were $50 in the guide at 9.2. Oh and Asm 300 which was also valed at $50 at the time. 10 years ago, maybe?
I purchased an X-men #1 giant size years a go in a collection.. I had to rummage through my old boxes once it blew up this year. It's off getting cleaned and graded..
I misplaced my 2 copies of Ultimate Fallout #4 (bagged & unbagged). Also my copy Amazing Fantasy Vol. 2 #1-6 & 15. They’re in one of my 190 small boxes of comics. For some reason I forgot to catalog their location in my CLZ database.
I lost "cousin stole it" a decent copy of the Brave and the Bold 28 in the mid 90's was around a FN/VF copy. todays value of a cgc graded 7.0 is around 10-15k
I'm sure that not only guys but _gals_ will find things in their parents' attics that the _gals_ thought were gone forever! My parents were more clever than that back in the late 1950s: they "gave all the comics to your [our] cousins (in Dallas, a time zone away), but the comics would never come back because our cousins caught something contagious", measles, chicken pox, whatever. Of course, we knew better than that (since we'd already had those childhood diseases)... but the comics would have been very well read before they "were given away", so probably not easy to sell now. Us _gals_ have stories, too!
I have never misplaced a comic but I have misplaced action figures. Worst thing I havve ever misplaced was some Spider-man action figure wave by marve legends back in 2015, so knowing that feelinig I feel so good for you
A thing I noticed is, that this box isn’t from the late 80s/early 90s, yet there bags with up to 4 book in them. You were clearly into collecting, so it’s weird. Nice haul though.
I think the box itself is from only 7-8 years ago, I must have a senior in college by the timing of it, its just filled with what I apparently used to be collecting! (Including a she-hulk? Works for me!!!)
Literally what happened to me during this past TGiving : parents had a box of "antique comics", which was a pile of comics I owned from the 70s, 80s, and primarily the 90s. A significant stack of comics came from grab bags that Costco/Price Club used to sell, which included a copy of "Batman Adventures" #12 -- totally forgot about it until I opened the box and freaked out a bit. Now -- do I go raw or slab it, that's the question.
I lost an Astro Boy #1 double cover that I found on a spinner at Rite Aid in the late 80s. Smh...it was my fault i left it at the PO and never picked it up. Would love to have it back.

@@SPalochik I was a Sonar Tech (STG3) which I learned that a long time ago used to stand for Sonar Technician and Guns (Surface Ships). So I guess that kind of makes us family. What's your favorite Comicbook Title? Maybe I can send you something?
I’m missing some books, no idea where they could have went myself. It’s ok ive replaced em too but always makes me wonder. Very cool to see your recovering your head scratchers
Wow bro, just wow! Glad you found those gems! I have a couple of those, namely Spawn 9 and a couple of those Batman 497s! 😀
Dude I 'm so glad you found that. Now for CGC to finally give it back to ya! haha
I am currently missing a box of comics that has 3 omega reds, a she hulk 1, and a few miscellaneous green lantern keys, I may have left em at my buddy Jimmy’s parents house…🤔 lol in all seriousness, great find man!! Love that Omega Red book!
Sounds familiar! hahahaa
Great video! I have a missing box of comics that has a Devil Dinosaur #1 and a large run of G.I.Joe series. Can’t wait for the day it shows up!
Damn - hopefully they appear again in 7-8 years! haha (Or sooner)
Good thing those comic book are found. Spawn keys!
Spawn keys woot woot!
Gotta love those attic finds, even if they were in your parent's attic. BTW, what makes you a 'Cuse fan?
That was my school!
@@MintHunterComics I graduated from ESF and grew up in CNY about 40 mins from Utica in the foothills of the ADK Park. Lifelong SU fan.
Don't you love it when you find key comics in ma and pa's attic. What a find my friend.
Thanks Matt S! and yes I do love that haha
Nice little box of comics there man! I did the same thing at my moms and found MOTU and TF’s toys from the early 80s. So cool
That's awesome! I'm glad they didn't just throw it out this time (like what they did with my Pokemon cards)
What an awesome find well done man, I can only dream of coming across boxes like that lol
What's crazy is I don't even rememebr having a she hulk 1 previously in years past. So thats an awesome discovery!
Had to go around and ask for money instead of gifts. lol
They probably sold em! hahaha
Had a bunch of the early Batman Adventures books, including #12. Now, definitely gone, house sold, game over...
Game over man... that sucks
I`ve got Spectre #5 and Batman #497))
Woot woot!
Always fun finding forgotten stashes and going down memory lane.
Felt like a time capsule!
@@MintHunterComics I can relate, great stuff
Worst book I ever lost/misplaced is ASM #4 from... 2014? The first full appearance of Silk. I have ever other issue of that run, and I know I scooped that one up off of the shelf. Kills me that I've lost it.
No! shoot - hopefully it pops up
Great re-discovery! I pulled my Marvel slurpee cup collection from my folks attic
Ultimate fallout 4. I had the book as a kid and just absolutely lost it. Never found it and ive moved like 4 times so that books gone
Nooooo!
One of your best vids to-date. I felt I was there with you but I was actually screaming with excitement each time the bell rang! Kudos to your folks on "throwing" in their attic. Mine were thrown in trash without me knowing 😖😢 Luved vid 😄👍
I've looked and looked in my parents' house, but still cannot find my New Mutants Annual 2 - 1st Psylocke - lol
Damn dude. Sometimes comics grow legs and just leave
Damn dude. that's like a needle in a haystack.
My dad put edge of spiderverse 2 in the bin a couple years ago thinking it was nothing
Ooof.
I lost "cousin stole it" a decent copy of the Brave and the Bold 28 in the mid 90's was around a FN/VF copy. todays value of a cgc graded 7.0 is around 10-15k
I’ve misplaced a full short box that included a complete run of Sensational She-Hulk & Halo Jones. I still think it’s in my parents storage. 🤷🏼♂️
Thanks for sharing Debby!
I had a last issue of the first Stat Wars run that was most likely thrown away. It's like a 100 dollar book now
I have never misplaced a comic but I have misplaced action figures. Worst thing I havve ever misplaced was some Spider-man action figure wave by marve legends back in 2015, so knowing that feelinig I feel so good for you
That sucks man , I know the feeling
Awesome find, those venom comics..look fantastic
They're both like 9.4-9.6 range I'd say. Very high grade
only thing I'd worry about are rolled spines but wow. Some cool stuff there!
So if you dont tape them what do you do? Also quat did you end up doing with collection did u slab them sell them or store them?
I lost an Astro Boy #1 double cover that I found on a spinner at Rite Aid in the late 80s. Smh...it was my fault i left it at the PO and never picked it up. Would love to have it back.
You must have been organizing, culling your runs down to your best copy and pulling some odd minor keys out to sell?? Eclectic mix of books
Wow haha, awesome to find things you forgot you had. Really enjoyed this style vid dude. Keep it up.
Glad you enjoyed!
All dem green lanterns 👀👀🤤🤤
Such a "me" find
@@MintHunterComics if you ever find yourself wanting to sell those emerald twilights lemme know!🤘🏻🤘🏻
Wow. You’ve been due for some good luck. Nice stack of books.
You got that right! Karma swinging back my way
Yeah. My mom moved out of her placed without warning. Can't even tell you how much of my stuff was in that attic that is now lost to the ages. Needless to say, we don't speak anymore :D
Oh MAN. the path to forgiveness will be tough but worth it if you can get there my friend
@@MintHunterComics I was just being facetious. Well for it being about my attic stuff. We don't speak but it's for other reasons.
