Thanks for the video. I just bought a MH50, it seems to leak oil at 3 of 4 spark plugs, which it shouldn't at all. It definitely isn't leaking from the head gasket. I appreciate this vid I'm going to use it to help me get the old girl running a bit better. Cheers from Ontario.
Been a long time since I've set timing on a engine, let only change points, condenser and cap. Takes me back to my 30's and Chevy engines. Great instructional video. Have a Happy New Year and God bless
Nice job great video. I replaced my old points with a pertronix ignition kit and coil about 6 years ago works great so if you want you could update her makes a huge difference for cold weather starting.
That was the best thing I did to my 1959 M-F 50 ! Cap ,rotor are the only thing you need to check , & the spark plugs last twice as long.& you don't have to check the timing ever again. Or as the add says ( set it & forget it ) I've put in 3 classic cars , & a boat with a I/O engine & have never had a failure! That has been well over 20 years ago.
Thanks for sharing your video, I just bought a restored one of these and would you mind doing a tutorial on just the basic functionality of the tractor? Sometimes I am wonder if I am missing something in running the tractor like engaging the PTO properly and little things like that! Thanks!
could you do a video on maintaining the throttle? mine is exactly like yours only the throttle runs away on me pretty quick. I am constantly having to tweak it to have it run. Anything will help. Thank you.
Quick question, i have the same tractor as you l. I set the timing at idle to 6 i rev it and nothing changes it stays at 6. Am i supposed to change the number on the timing light to 21 cause i tried that and it whent the other way.
Noticed your starter nosecone had been broken on your starter repair vid..I have a f40 Ferguson that broke a brand new cone and am puzzled about what is my problem..ring gear was replaced and is in good shape..starter sounds great when it worked..I do have excessive end play on crank..any help appreciated..
i would like to see how the steering works on these old tractors i had to take off the stander steering box and install a power steering box or collom what ever it is called it has a power steering pump on the engine of the old scraped tractor but no lines at all they were gone I think my steering box now is called the orbital type with 4 or 5 connections can u hilp
You probably have to clean the carburetter your main jet is probably plugged. You can try to put a little bit of gas down the carburetter just to see if it’ll fire up then you at least you know it can fire up.
Thank you so much for this video. This has been a big help in bringing my Dad's old '56 MF50 back to life!
Thank you so much for making this video ! I have a MF 40 and I'll be going out now to give her A tune up now with confidence .

What is the name of the piece under the coolant hose? It leaks fuel on mine and I'm trying to figure out what seal to order.
