@ 8:40 When using a teleconverter you do not affect anything within the the lense. The teleconverter affects the output of the lense. Therefore you get the same focusing distance as is when not using a teleconverter. (When using an extension tube it will affect the working distance, which is the purpose of using these tubes.)
Interesting. I will might have a play around with the teleconverter while I still have it, and perhaps make a video using it with the 90mm out in the field
Sorry for basic question! How do you decide number of shots per bracket and gap? Do you do this in camera or use software. Just getting started! Thanks
Hi Jamie I have the Olympus 60mm macro with the same diffuser you have but I have ordered the 90 mm do I have to order an other larger diffuser to fit the 90mm ? Thanks
Hey Jamie, I have the 60 and 90 and feel like I need the 30 to complete the set. However I shoot most fungi and flower shots with the 12-40mm f2.8. It is a really versatile lens for fungi and perfect for landscape, street etc. It is very sharp. I only use my macro lenses for fungi if they are very small subjects or if I shoot slime mold. You did a great job of summing up the strengths of each Olympus macro lenses.
The OM 90mm is a game changer. I've hardly taken it off my OM-1 since I got it 8 months back. And the weight isn't that bad, especially compared to equivalent APSC or full frame lenses, as you point out. Do you prefer to use Teleconverter or Raynox 250?
Thanks for the video its very useful I have a combo em1 mii and 60mm and raynox dcr250 and extention tube 26mm What do you thing about this .. for info im not a professional 🙂
That is a great setup. I used the em1 mii with the 60mm and raynox dcr250 for a couple years and it can produce amazing results. And I am guessing the extension tube gives you a little more magnification too
Great review Jamie. This is not an easy thing to do but you covered it all well. I chose the 60mm over the 90mm mainly due to the price difference, but maybe I should have saved a bit more and pushed the boat out.
Thank you! It all comes down to whether you want or need the features on the 90mm because the 60mm can produce very similar results in terms of depth of field and sharpness
In the new year I'm going to invest in the OM mk2 and 90mm lens, I've been using a Sigma 180mm f2.8 macro which is a fantastic lens, I love it to bits but as you get older you need to dump the weight.
Having a light setup makes macro photography so much more enjoyable! If you're going to buy from the official OM System website, send me a direct message or email, and I can send you 10% off your order!
The first thing I would do if I bought the 90mm would be put a piece of tape over that IS switch. I own the 12-100 and that's what I did with that lens after accidentally turning off the IS on a number of occasions when taking it out of my bag. I've owned that lens since it came out and I can't think of one time I wanted the IS off. As far as the 90mm being smaller than a full-frame lens, I own the Nikon Z full frame 105mm macro and it's exactly the same length, (although somewhat heavier.) Still, if I didn't already own the Olympus 60mm I'd be buying the 90. However, where I live, the 90 is more than 3x the price of the 60!!! Very tempting though.
The image stabilisation is always on for me. The 90mm is amazing, but yeah it is quite a bit more expensive than the 60mm. And the 60mm can still produce amazing results similar to that of the 90mm
My bad, I forgot to mention the price of both the 60 and 90. The 30mm is £299, the 60mm is £499, and the 90mm is £1299 (prices from official OM System website before discounts)

What do u use to be capable of using Raynox on 60mm?
Nice video mate, do you find yourself using the 2x converter for insect photography? I'm thinking of getting one.
Can that 30mm be used as a regular lens for landscape and street photography?
Yes
This lenses looking amazing, great video Jamie
Thank you!

Thanks
Yes. When I got the 90mm, my 60mm diffuser didn't fit because the white part that goes over the lens was too small for the 90mm
Thanks for your help
Great video as always very helpful
VERY well done!!
Thank you!
An excellent video Jamie, keep it up
Thank you!

Thanks! I also have the 60 and 90 but find myself only using the 90 because I'm addicted to high magnification 😂

Same here, it pretty much never leaves my OM-1! I would say I prefer the teleconverter because it is has no change in working distance
Thanks for the video its very useful

Credible, balanced, use-based overview. Well illustrated, fine pics. Coat on wall in talking head shots, a bit distracting, TBH. Cheers!
Thank you! It's a good job I didn't film on a wider lens. Otherwise you would have seen the mess on my desk which is 10x more distracting 😂
❤❤
Er.. and Budget..🤷♂️.. we can't all afford 2 of these... Or maybe not even one... Please give an idea of UK prices and differences..🙏

I listen, but I don't hear a brummie accent.
