    Ed, what you've done with that 100 is great. The mods have turned it from a big soft family wagon to a beast.
    Ryan, the new lighter colour scheme on the Ranger works really well. It was a bit too dark before, but now I think the white on black works well.
    Chris, I think you've shown why the Fortuner is the best seller in it's segment in South Africa. It's scope of ability is fantastic. It made everything look like a Sunday stroll and didn't skip a beat.

    Do plugs on the sidewall hold up?
    Here in America and Canada, they won’t even touch it to fix it. It’s a road safety hazard and all the lawsuit potential so they would ask you to change the tire. No shop would fix the puncture if it is not on the treads and even slightly on the sidewall. I had a spate of 3 punctures on the sidewall 4 years ago in a span of 6 months ( unlucky streak) and I ended up having to replace the tires at $350 a pop.
    Great series by the way. Always enjoy your videos and tell my friends to subscribe and watch your videos for great bush adventures in Southern Africa 😀

    • @Abraracourix
      @Abraracourix 10 місяців тому

      @@OverlandingEscape Yeah, that was predictable. I think I watched Ed’s plug didn’t hold up and started leaking again later in the video. Makes sense for emergencies. It was squarely on the sidewall.
      Great videos and keep up the adventures. Hopefully Ed’s car troubles with the radiator didn’t put too much dent on the budget to stop from future adventures 😀

    This is the most thrilling episode you gents ever produced. It felt like I was watching a thriller movie, I don't know when last didn't sit on the edge of the couch, teeth clinched and having a commentary on my own. The segment at 30 minutes with Ed's trailer and the last challenge was hella nerve wrecking, but with those breath taking views, it was all worth it. Really awesome. I just can't understand Ryan's comment when he mentioned they were rigged for overlanding, and this is much more. Seems to me they all crew and vehicles handled it well. Another point I am curious about is why did the camera charging became a problem as the long driving hours should allow sufficient charging time. Maybe the advice on how to avoid it will help as most people will probably now wondering how to make our current charging facilities better? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks again for the great video and the sharing to all.

    • @OverlandingEscape
      @OverlandingEscape  Рік тому +1

      Thanks! A lot vehicles that do Van Zyls have 35 inch tyres which would be ideal and give alot more clearance. With regards to the charging, the roads were so rough we had to secure everything in the cars properly. To the point that the batteries wouldn’t even stay in their chargers and cables wouldn’t stay in the plug points.

    Okay. Two comments in one vlog. Lol. Your video quality. It’s next level. Not just the behind the camera positioning etc but the equipment must be state of the art. I for one, watch more UA-cam than DSTV or Netflix. And I can say with all honestly that your videography is far beyond that of other international vlogs that have way bigger budgets than you. It’s taken me nearly two and a half hours to watch this because I keep pausing to view the spots we are also at. Your video quality has me right there, while sitting on my couch. Superb. This is award winning stuff. Can’t compliment you enough.

    I was also victim of a robbery in that region. But as the robbers were a bit stupid and thanks to cellphone tracking, they could ultimately be trapped and brought to court in Opuwo. But when you end up in the desert without anyting, that is really scary. So be aware of locals hanging out in the Marienfluss and even more so in the Hartmanns' Valley west of it!

    The reason you haven't seen animals in the area of Puros is because of the routes you took. Going up the Puros river in a western direction towards the ocean is a lot of water. Well worth the wait. Seeing a part of Africa we know nothing about. I'm amazed your trucks didn't rattle apart. Agree with Ryan, short on wildlife, but amazing scenery. Can't wait for Etosha.

    This is most probably the best overlanding episode ever I do watch a number of other channels even some international channels and this is way better than anything I ever watched.
    The Van Zyl Pass the scenery and all the camera work are just exceptional.
    I think all three cars are really great for these types of adventures and the trailer and Toyota combo is just awesome (not to take anything away from the Ford, in actual fact I think the Ford really did great)
    The best ever!!!!!!!

    Wow, this was indeed an adventure, I was at the edge of my seat when Chris went 1st on that steep hill descend were other cars did not make it, it was really close. I couldn't watch further, I looked away when I saw his Fortuner sliding on its own. I thought this is it. And taking care of the Israeli couple, magic. Is that not what Ubuntu is about?. Greatest show ever.
