Just tried this on mine, slightly older software version so needed a different code but got in and managed to turn on android auto and carplay. Worked a charm, can't believe they didn't enable it. Was going to buy a second screen for it!!!

I got 2018 Media Nav I just activated my CP . I’m grateful for this video as I have been struck even thinking of buying a New Radio with CarPlay. All the was from South Africa ❤

Man, at the end of video you said that new botton (Android Auto) appeared but I don't see it, the screen is sam as on the beginning of video...
You have to plug your phone with USB cable in and then you will set up Android Auto. I just did mine and I had no Icon .....after I connected my phone icon was bottom right...Android Auto.

@@evertgrove9539 Sorry I don't. I only ever done this project to get mine working. I did stumble across some foreign websites which had different codes although they were hit & miss.
Blimey Merv, I was looking at the aftermarket to get a head unit with Android auto for my 2014 duster, I'll look out for a media nav now, thanks for the video
Just bear in mind it's got to be an "evolution" from a 2018 onwards car and you will need a GPS antenna ( link to antenna in description).

You cannot get apple play on an media evolution 2, has to be a three, which is mid 2018 onwards on the date of the actual radio system. Evolution 2 does not allow higher than 9.1 software so the option of carplay will never be there. So the media nav in this video is MN3
Thats very helpful, just got a Renault Trafic which should have AA and CP but not there. Software all updated to 9.1 hence my unit must be a Evolution 2. I will stop wasting time and just continue using google maps on the phone.🙂
The connector ia called Fakra. The universal coding is waterblue (Z).

nope, thats the older media nav which is based on Windows CE and not Linux. you need to have software 1.0.x.x for it to have AA or CP.

This looks great, I will give it a go, but the video froze or audio stopped a couple times, not sure why? Where can I get the codes? I don’t know what software I’m on, only had the vehicle a day but CarPlay isn’t active and would like to see if I can get it
It has not got the option for AA or CP in there unless it’s a mark 3. You can’t buy a media evolution 2 and then go inside and just turn it because the option isn’t there, that’s why people went out and brought new ones, for the higher software. The one in your video is evolution mn3, that’s what why you have option of AA and CP and the fact you’ve got 1.0.15 software, an evolution 2 does not allow this software
All I know is that it came out of a 2018 car and I had to update the software. As the unit had never been registered I had the free map update as well.

@@mervtaylor I have a 68 plate traffic, and have a similar unit, mine does not have the option for carplay or android auto, my software is 9.1.3, it's never been updated, where did you get the firmware from and was there a guide
@@acelectricalsecurity The firmware update was from the Dacia site. I'm sure Renault would be the same. If the unit has never been updated you should get 1 free map update and firmware update. After that they will probably want to charge you for subsequent updates. Have a look at this link to give you an idea. dacia.welcome.naviextras.com/

Can you help at all mate. Apple car play was working perfectly but out of nowhere it’s now saying “reading iPod device” I’ve tried hard reset, enabling and disabling. Resetting phone, different cable… all the usual expected fixes
I don't think I can help but I did have a similar issue with Android Auto on the phone. unInistalled it and reinstalled and all was OK.

subscribed on the back of this Merv lad you're a star, ive just upgraded my sandero stepway from an 18 month old stepway to a newer model and the old lass had carplay and android built in worked a treat, the new one although it states on the website it should have it as standar...it didn't, did a bit of research noticed some europeans doing the micom trick but didnt know what i was looking at afterwards, but this video has enlightened me no end thank you buddy, just need to hack into the display now, don't suppose you know the codes for the sandero stepway at all do you so i can access the micom screen?
Sorry, I never looked any further than the codes I needed for mine. I seem to remember a foreign Internet thread had a load of codes but just can't remember where I saw it. Thanks for your comments.

Hi Merv, do you think it will work on af Renault Captur from 2014? Softwareversion 4.0.3. screen look the same, only it says Renault when it starts. Kind regards Mikael.
I don't think so as I believe the "Evolution" only started being supplied after 2015, well in the UK in Dacia. Im not sure if Renault cars were ahead in the technology.
@@mervtaylor it worked, but I don't have the codes sadly. But the pattern on the screen worked, so I just ned the right codes.
What version of evolution is your radio?

What the guy who made this video didn’t seem to realise was the dealer was almost correct… most cars made in 2018 had the media nav evolution 1 hardware (mn2) which is a windows based head unit and has software updates going up until 9.x.x. Some cars made later in the year featured the media nav evolution 2 (mn3). Despite the software looking the same it’s completely different. It’s running Linux not windows, and has a much better screen and microphone. Furthermore it supports android auto and Apple CarPlay. If you can find a seller online though the units are just plug and play so you can easily swap a newer unit in without needing a dealer to fit it
Will this work with a 2016 sandero stepway?
I tried to with mine but I only managed to update the system to version 9.1.3. I think our head units are too old :/
I have read about other things you can do with ours tho, like changing backgrounds etc. but I haven't been able to remember where I found that info.

Right so im almost there, ive got all the way to the Micom test button but its greyed out, does that mean im knackered?
micom will be greyed out if you save the "mcmtest_activate.ini" file as a text file. Make sure the file extension is .ini NOT .txt

If you enable Apple Car Play I do not see any reason it would not work on your iphone and similarly if you have the latest version of Android Auto installed on your Samsung it should work. Let me know how you get on.

nope, you need software 1.0.x.x and thats only available on media nav 3 from 2019 onwards

Versions x.x.x are Windows based so they won't support AA or carplay. And versions 1.0.x.x and upwards are Linux based so they will work.

Hi! I think that the codes are 2383 and 3748, and the file name should be "mcmtest_activate_4medianav", unfortunately I personally did not find android auto from the Micom settings on my medianav evolution (2nd gen Duster, but from the first half of 2018) :-/

That is odd, it must be an old unit, not an Evolution.

@@ruthphillips7407 if it's greyed out that means you put the wrong thing on the USB , what software are you on , I did get to the menu but they just wasn't on it.
@@MrStevenhogg i got to the micon screen but no AA, i think it needs to be version V on the nextr hardware model box, and there is not way to upgrade from V9 to V1 so i might give up :(

Hi, got into the micom screen once, it didn't have the AA option but when I backed out and went in again the micom option is greyed out so I can't even choose it. This is version 9.1. 3, any way to force the update to version 10?
Same I’ve opened the menu no AA
Download the latest version of the toolkit then follow the instructions on the computer it should work.

Now I’m confused because I didn’t download anything I just made the USB key and then pressed the screen 5 places and inputted the code have I missed something thanks
@@AF-qd9bk the download part is to update the medianav software version, but it looks like there are 2 models out there, the early 2018 version only takes upto v 9.1.3
My car is from 2010.
This only works with Media Nav Evolution, supplied in the UK during 2018.
