As a person from Toronto I never really liked Drake and kinda thought he ruined Toronto for the general public tbh. Most people I know and have talked too really don’t like the stupid slang he helped to popularize and the so called “Toronto accent” that Kendrick rightfully mocked. I’ve never really been into rap but I was so happy when everyone finally started to turn on Drake because of the beef and I’ve actually started to get into Kendrick’s music because of the beef lol

Im a Kendrick fan from LA but the Toronto Accent is a real linguistic phenomenon called “Multicultural Toronto English”. It’s not just slang. Sure it sounds kinda funny but it’s a relatively new thing that’s sprung about within the past few decades. It doesn’t have the same history attached to it as a New York or Southern accent which is why it gets clowned a lot and isn’t as respected. People outside more working class/ethnically diverse communities in Toronto simply aren’t used to hearing it
The same thing happens with the more hood, “Cali accent” spoken by working class/middle class black people in Cali, where people will clown our slang, lingo, and how we pronounce words, especially black people from other parts of America.

Toronto actually isn't a cultural melting pot. It's a cultural mosaic. All kinds of ppl come here and retain their culture. Whereas a melting pot the cultures come together and somewhat become one and there's alot of conformity. Learned this in elementary school for some reason lol

Aubrey has done nothing for Toronto. That’s why we don’t have his back. He built his career off the backs of disenfranchised youth and has never given back to what he’s taken from. Drake is inauthentic, a poser no true identity. And could never compare to a Kendrick. Ever.

Drake put the city on the map, his rise gave all the Toronto artist like the weeknd, tory lanez nav a chance to shine so idk what you're talking about. Hes definitely funded so many things in the city for kids that he doesn't have to brag about it. Hes even the raptors ambassador.

Toronto is a city that goes out of its way to destroy and defund any instance of history, culture and art it has. There is no “Toronto” sound save for maybe 3 artists (that were heavily influenced by US artists). The second a Toronto artist becomes successful, they leave to LA, NY or the UK. Compton has its issues for sure but it wears its (much deeper) history and culture on its sleeve and has legendary artists repping it to their grave.

Drake is now suing UMG for letting Kendrick calling him a p3d0 so I don't he will recover especially if he wins the lawsuit since it will show people that Drake is just someone who can't any criticism and plus there is a video of him years ago when he was still starting as an artist where he kissed a fan who was underage and it makes it worse that he was aware of the fan's age and still proceed to kiss her. And also he used to texted Millie Bobby Brown who was a minor at time which overall is very weird of him to do since he was already an adult when he was messaging her and also he was hanging around a girl who was underage too and waited until she was 18 to date her which just shows how disgusting Drake as a person.

I think Kendrick outstrategized Drake and had the better song, but "Family Matters" was the better diss track. I also think Kendrick won the masses because Drake is a mixed guy from Canada, has been on top for 10+ years, and Kendrick is more likeable. If it was two dudes from the same city, like Nas and Jay-Z, or someone like Cole who is equally likeable, would the masses have sided with Kendrick? I'm not sure.
