So much love for John Popper both from the crowd and in the comments. Fucking beautiful. I feel like he doesn't get nearly enough recognition or respect these days.
I also love the look on Carter's face throughout the solo.
right
Absolutely. Right on. He is a fiercely talented harp player. One of the best in the world. Seeing him play with Blues Traveler was amazing, and would love to see them live again. Maybe they'd open for DMB? For me, my dream show. Peace man.
@ryanwalters2789 that would be an awesome show. I bet
Popper is a god damn monster.
No goddamn WAY. They sound just as amazing as the OG version.
Are effing kidding me? That was about 10 notches above it.
This guy is probably the best Harmonicas deliveries of all time,Love you John
Pure magic :) Love it, John Popper sitting in with Dave and the guys, that solo - freaking sick!
Best version of the song. Popper is a freak and that horn line at the end is untouchable
Worth the price of admission.
I love Jeff and Rashawn. Those horn lines have added something new to already amazing songs.
Popper still got it! Amazing solo.
When cats like Popper sit in with the band it really pushes these guys to the next level. And course when Popper is sitting in they know they better bring it for him. Just a gorgeous performance.
Wow - just mindblowingly awesome solo. My head asplode.
Back off baby
Kick ass. Classic as we speak. Popper is as phenomenal as ever. The band played tighter than ever just because of his presence. He is unbelievable. Best version I've heard or seen live since the song was recorded with him, and they just improved it. Hammered it! I never use the word, but I agree... EPIC.
Poppers always Relevant
Just watched it again. Popper’s solo is fucking boss.
John Popper is magnificient here, I was at the concert. However, the band plays this because they have been playing it since 1991.
I will always watch this performance and be grateful I’ve seen both the Dave Matthews Band and Blues Traveler live. These guys are legends.
I don't think I have ever been so grateful for a video. thank you SO much for this!!
allgood
John Popper, a harmonica God! And one hell of a singer!
We have to thanks John Popper for the jam band scene we had in the 90s and now...
These are the best folk rock, blues, and jazz musicians we will ever see in our lives here on this stage.
DAMN! That was SOLID! Anyone else think that Popper was going to pass out during his solo?!? Hell, I was starting to get out of breath just watching him!
His diaphragm is the size of a Buick. What's crazy is that he's a smoker and still has that much wind capacity.
Epic. So many memories just came flooding back .....
Me too bro me too. This was my twenties.
This has always been my fav DMB song so finally seeing JP do this one, live with the band, really made my day. Just wish I had a time machine so I could go to the actual show. Haha.
Actually, I like plenty of DMB songs that weren't hits. Just because my fav happens to be a popular hit song doesn't mean my taste is somehow inferior.
goosebumps, chills, shivers....I bow down
Two fantastic geniuses hitting those notes so well ... xox ... John Popper always rocks!
That was Brutally AWESOME!!!

Always wondered what was missing from the live version before seeing this!

Damn! Love this! I think every single band member had the biggest shit-eating grin on their faces watching JP's solo!
Loaded with talent this world doesn’t see very often
Happy Birthday, Dave!
AMAZING VIDEO! Why can't JP always guest? So much energy on that stage & he killed his solo!

John Popper one of the best harmonica players ever!
John Popper, we are not worthy
Saw Blues Traveler open for The Stones in The Horseshoe in Columbus, Ohio in Sept, 1997....and Popper and his mates simply tore up The Stage With Swag.....Stones were great but Blues Was The Winner That particular night! One of the finest shows I ever attended....Cheers Everyone
That is all time.
Fantastic solo! He looked like Joey Chestnut destroying 60+ Nathan's hot dogs!
Hope to see this at Oceans Calling this year.!?!
from the Dave Matthews jam band style, John Popper is a natural fit. it just works.
Is John Popper in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?
Negative.
Soon enough! :)
@@maramustudio8794 If the HoF still goes by the '30 yrs since debut album' prerequisite, BT became eligible in 2020.
His Talent IS the Rock n Roll hall of fame
Magical
When pure heart and expert craftsmanship meet!
Thank you for video! Brilliant!
Thank you for posting!
So much energy
Awesome! Thanks so much!
Popper is a freakin' savage. Unreal.
John gave me exactly what i asked for
I'm smoking my last cigarette to this song. God bless.
Oh my god this is amazing
In 1995 Blues Traveler was as big as DMB is now.
Also in 1995, another band was super popular around the same time as of Blues Traveler and the Dave Matthews Band, that band was of course, Hootie & The Blowfish.
@@martinkreps9946 tbh I think if dave got started like a couple years earlier because he was pretty old i think 28 something when he started making studio albums so and so, he woulda been as popular back in the day as he is now
John popper backing up is the BEST. Just hanging out...
This is badass.
Dear lord above. What. A. Solo.
That was fun
Poppers solo makes me smile
Epic
Awesome!
love!!
DMB + Popper= Classic!!!
I had to read the date like four times!
Soo Cool!!!💙💙💙☮️☮️☮️
That harmonica smoked a cigarette afterwards
❤❤❤
BEST LIVE MUSIC
unreal.
So fucking siiick!
I was there!!
On the studio version, former Doobie Brothers singer/keyboardist Michael McDonald sings backing vocals.
Hey there, I just found out myself that MM was on the studio version of this track, any clear examples where his voice stands out? I can't seem to pick it up. Thanks.
Will isolated vocal tracks work for you?
Everyone always sayin John Popper doesn’t get the respect. But everyone is sayin it. So what is y’all on about any way? We obviously all recognize.
Popper just isn't human. Good grief, what a performance!
300 likes? c'mon people! I ALWAYS like Chester's work.
John Popper is to harmonica what Edward Van Halen was to guitar. R.I.P. Eddie.
Fuck to the yeah. I love the 90s
Kinda wish popper would've waited a couple of bars till he came in. But still a phenomenal job.
Name anyone that plays harmonica like this man. For real. Jimi Hendrix of the harp.
John is amazing to this day. Pretty sure he’s swallowed that harp years ago!
And yes....I thought he was going to collapse on stage
A Birdman,,, awesome!
i wonder who did the animation.
What a damn crippler!!!
😘🤸🤗
❤❤🌹🌹🌹👍👍👍
