Mt. Joy is a truly fabulous band. They have been my favorite current band for a while. I've have seen GD with Jerry 311 time) and too many JGB show to keep a count on. Living in SF will do that for you. Mt. Joy does this song extreme justice! They have the vibe and they are feeling it and spreading it. If you ever notice, most jam bands or any band for that matter these days who do GD covers try to sing it overly pretty. Too pretty! Matt brings it correct. He's singing this song with ultimate feel, groove and meaning...no overly homogenized pretty crap here. Thanks guys and gal, we'll be seeing you on the road plenty during 2023!
I’m a huge GD guy but man something has to change. So many GD fans flood videos of bands playing covers saying “trash solo”, “Jerry is turning in his grave”, etc. Can’t you see you are killing this music. The whole point should be a pretty sweet upcoming band that wanted to play a tribute or nod to a great song from a great band. This isn’t about matching Garcia’s take on a solo or even the band as a whole. Stop being so elitist/ snobbish and be grateful a top band would have the courage to play a song like fire on the mountain in front of a mixed, mostly younger crowd. If 1 of those attending had never heard this song and went home and looked into it, this was a success for GD.
This is sweet - vocals have feeling and the dude sounds good - and damn that is a sweet Jaguar amirite- haha - cool another interpretation of a great song from a band that had all the elements.
How come we only hear poppy-type songs from them on the radio? Not real familiar with them, but it seems to me they're more jam/folk band, than pop rock...no?
Everything except the middle guitar lead (solo) is brilliant. Obviously, Mt Joy is not known as a jamband or for serious tech chops, so we have to be fair. That said, the energy at the end is solid!
That's how he plays. He does a lot of singular notes as rhythm playing, with the layers, etc, but also does his solos the way you see here. He's not a real melodic player, but more of a rhythm player. It is what it is.

Saw them perform this in Raleigh last April. Love the two set format they are using now. LONG LIVE
Seeing this in person is incredible. They are such an amazing band. I’m utterly obsessed 🤩

Saw them open for Dave Matthews and they were amazing. Then I listened to the studio albums and hated it
really enjoyed listening to this finger kinda got stuck on the repeat button...
It's a shame many don't know the original but hell yea Mt Joy, took everyone to Shakedown Street !
They know the original song, guy
Common NPC grateful Dead gatekeeper lmao
I get the snob thing but yeah a lot of people don’t know the OG, judging from multiple conversations I’ve had with people who have seen my joy live

NFA ❤ 💀
Lots of shit talking here. I thought the vibe was THERE. That’s all that matters when you’re playing The Dead
LONG LIVE JERRY GARCIA
The OG
The solo at the end kind of ruins a terrific performance!
Sliced bread was good, but this…
The keyboardist is cute.
that solo was mid
Thanks for your opinion Joey
@@jackellzey3304 of course mr. ellzey
The only thing mid here is you Joey
Weak solo. Gotta work on that one.
Get your ears cleaned out.
The grateful dead werent always perfect either. They were there to jam and vibe! This band did great nonetheless
how many people pay to see you play

Jerry would not be proud of this trash cover. Who let my nephew do the solo for this song?
Something tells me you're not his favourite uncle
