"Written by Mickey Hart and Robert Hunter in 1973, Fire On The Mountain made its long-awaited live debut in concert with the Grateful Dead in March of 1977 at Winterland. Usually joined to Scarlet Begonias, this is a rare stand-alone version, featuring Clarence Clemons on saxophone." - David Lemieux
David thank you for everything brother. Love your show and the stories you tell. This band man. I’ll tell ya. It keeps hittin ya decades later as well. Unreal.
At 53 years old, I recently obtained this amazing gift.. I can’t believe I wasted money to see Motley Crue in the 80’s.. of course I always knew who the Grateful Dead were and heard some radio play over my lifetime, but never knew what it was all about.. I don’t know who it was who pulled my head out of my ass, but thank you.. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
@stevetrivago I'm in the same boat. Same age also. The Dead gained a little popularity in the early 90's when I was in college at Indiana University, maybe because of Touch of Grey. There was a friend of mine from Virginia who resided on the same floor in our dorm who was a guitarist and a Deadhead through and through. He tried to explain his attraction to the Grateful Dead's music to me but at the time I was more interested in Led Zeppelin. My thoughts of the Grateful Dead were "oh they're just some leftover hippie band from the 60s." Now I wished I'd paid more attention. My sister saw them play at Deer Creek music center in 1994 and I'm secretly jealous I never got to see them live. I'm currently looking for their music on CD at antique stores and flea markets and Craigslist nowadays.
@@eventhejunglewantedhimdead480 If you like intellectual thievery you'll love Led Zeppelin and Jimmy Page. If you like extended jazz-format improv jam sessions, then the 'dead are for you! As a late bloomer in my 50’s in becoming a fan of these guys, this is one of my favorite tunes. I just wasn’t into it at all in my high school days and for several decades afterwards. They are excellent musicians and these days I find myself playing it often.
I need to go see a festival with Dead and Company! I love you the Great Great Great Jerry Garcia! Thank you and the grateful Dead for having my back. Dead and Company is a continuation in honor of your legacy with the help of John Mayor and some original band members! In heaven you're my great-uncle and I can't wait to see you there in like 90 more years or something 🫶🌞👌
When I say my memories of that day are special, I use the word in the largest possible way. So much great music, from Tracy Chapman single handedly (well she used both hands, but played solo) owning the stadium, to John Fogarty playing CCR for the first time in 15 years. Special. Of the countless Dead shows I've seen and the great musicians to come up and play with them, my memories of The Big Man coming out with them on that day are among my most treasured. Clarence got what they were doing on a level very few could and it worked.
What a year. 89 into the 90s were atop the best. IMHO. Also that horn in back of Jerry was tremendous. Everyone on stage clicking on all 8 baby. It was FIRE on the mountain.
Live in wentzville for over 20yrs. Was at pinewood campsite summer of 95 when the deck collapsed still makes me weep. If anyone recalls please send good vibes to the people hurt We were just trying to get out of the rain

Was at this one. Anyone run into Spider-man?? Scored Skybox tix thru my dad's company for this, so of course I accompanied my parents to this. Along with a bunch of other guys from his office and wives who worked with my dad. We all had a great time ( after ducking out to smoke few bowls on the upper-deck with some other kids who had brought their parents to this!) At some point I was down on the field and ran into a dude dressed as Spider-man!!!! I asked him to come on up with me and hang out in the Loge for awhile and he did!! We had some laughs with him and he took some pictures with us! Def a highlight of a show that had many! There were a few bands that day but the John Fogerty's set was incredible !!!!!!! After his set my mom wanted to explore things down on the floor. Who am I to deny her? Haha! Sooo onto the field we went. Not far from entering the infield mom witnessed some Heads chopping up some " white, powdery substance" and inhaling it with a rolled up bill of some kind! Luckily as I turned around I noticed Bill Graham scouting the scene all around us. I then quickly introduced my mom to him to distract her from the debauchery! " Mom? This is Bill Graham, he put this whole concert together! ". ( She had no fucking clue who, what, when, or how Bill Graham was ) Bill was gracious and asked my mom how she was enjoying the show? To which she said she " Was having fun." And with that Bill disappeared into the crowd and I showed mom around some more. She didn't last long on the field there, but she was a trooper. I had invited a couple of beautiful lady friends of mine to the show and by the time the Dead had taken their Set Break, all of the clients and folks my Dad had brought to the benefit had long since left for the night. So we had the entire Loge to ourselves!!! I have to say that it was a pretty damn awesome way to see the Dead from a Loge. Usually I would go to a show and get up in the rafters on Jerry's side. But this was a whole different level. We had food, couches, comfortable seats, a bar, some hot food, and our on private bathroom! We were definitely styling! A great show for sure!

Jerry's having fun with Clarence playing in the band. Great to see that smile 😃
Happy Jerry, happy deadhead.

Any videos with Branford Marselis from 3/29/90 at Nassau ? Love that album.
(and also the 80 & 81 performances at NC. I was at the '81 show)

The Year I Was Born🫡
Seeing Jerry smile makes me smile.
❤
Every time!!!
I miss Jerry 👑🌹💀⚡💀🌹👑
The boys were about to go on the best tour of their career here.. almost every night has highlights...
A Day Without the Dead is a very sad day!!!😮
Phil is totally locked in on Jerry in this gem. Each is creating the space for the other to really shine
Jerry always gets a "touch stiffer" when horn players are on stage and that always benefits Phil's thing
The magic of The Dead is that no song or show is ever played exactly the same.
Love seeing Jerry happy and dancing like the big ol bear . Thank s for posting.
Great f'ing year for this band.
Phil getting on down in his own way. One of the greatest bassists ever!
Phil is always gonna do weird stuff when horn players are on stage.......he is trying to create "more room" than he normally cares to

Went to a Motley Crue show with my home made Grateful Dead vest on… guy behind me man your at the wrong show😂😂😂❤❤❤
Motley Crew is hilarious. Well at least youtube made it possible to see Dead Shows in an archive. Enjoy Bro!

Jerry García one of the greatest guitar players in Rock history.☮️🎸
Not the best, the only one who does what he does
So glad I “GOT IT”

What a terrific ending with some of those Scarlet licks.
Awesome, Jerry. He bends the fabric of music around him.

Man, this Fire is 🔥 they were really feeling themselves that night. One of my faves for sure
Jerry looks so happy and dancing!
I love how the live renditions sound close enough to the album without being perfect replicas. I can hear the soul in your playing as a band.
Never get tired of listening to Jerry and The Dead!!
Actual Fire.....
I really miss going to these concerts 😢
This is why I am a Deadhead.
I have that same vest from a long time ago ! They last forever , I’ve had mine for at least 45 years long before I met the Gratefuldead!
This was a great show. The whole band was on.

Makes me smile seeing Jerry smile.
Jerry’s got his groove on!
jerry sounds great!
How Jerry and Phil work together continues to amaze me. Long time Deadhead.
Jerry Garcia loved playing music with anyone, Rip Jerry
You can’t watch this and not smile. 🥲
This is awesome! What a trip with Clarence!!!

Everyone just gellin 😊
Wow. Jerry really rocked frustrated. I had forgotten how great '89 was

I saw a dream
With a Peyote Button streaming live with no jive on the mic I’m like
I need peyote type of vision
Speedy all need Trees to bleed Eyes Free as diet
I ski a riot caused on pause
I flipped it clause
Get lifted on the Trip skip the dip

I lonely with my own Chi
I split a phone to be
Home to see an old friendly face of the Ace on Trip
Seen a mind slip into blind from shots and Guns and Knives
I got it thrive
I bullet
The fullest with the pull it
All halt!
It’s all your fault I threw salt over my shoulder
Vault over the Soldier
As cold as tour from War
The Peyote is Medicinal for all types of Spirits still
Into the near Crystal Clear Water
I got the sawed off shotgun for the report of a hot one as in court
I flipped it retort
For War victims
I gave a friend a glass of Water
As off often as cough in the Ganja Tokes Mission
In position?
With this within I glisten
In the Sun on a run
Crews are done sing the blues and hum tunes
By the Grateful Dead
Musical said as beautiful
My eyes turn red as the disguise flipped on minds open
Broken that as Cocaine I rap flow lanes with Gats
So named the attack as clack as back split shut as ass guts
I ram a slam what?
I command the stand as brand
For hands I got grands I make as flake
Take off namesake as bend the metal
All settle as boiling kettle
I’m rebel
I turn it up the decibel
So sweat you full as Gun pulled
It’s like this no love
Shove a fool into the cruel world with no help curled
As belt one as One Sun I got the Gun
As so begun a War to the core with the born numb
We get it wicked
On lemonade liquid
To stick kids with shivs
Recite as the mic bled
The dice rolled
Dead on arrival to cold as fight pulled
My Nikes I got on is hype you wrong sing a song about that
As trap as max with bullet relaxed in the Straps I flight off maps
Lifted like that ticket I Speed as read the defeat
The treaty said to take it easy on cheese be brutal
All tunes learned as burned one churned I liquify before I die
So seen in Eye
I cry blood as money
Gun heat nothing funny nothing sweet
Drum beats thump the fleets
As Gun as crew bleeps
I sum and through all Blue as light this like who?
I twice flipped the mic skipped
I had a rice drink
Think I stink like dope as I break the coat with some sacred smoke
Heat up the hotted
Blotted Data Spotted
All ops slid into the blocks that turn red
I stock up on the Product
I shot with Gold Chains and Brains
Light this I twitch mic stitch
I’m rich
I buy Bottled Waters
The small ones
As Sum as
The from the past dashed that as stab
I’m fab

Cooked some stuff off of rough
I shot up into the Sun

Like this? Rung the dice rolled as skid
I patrolled the hood as Gold sit
In crews lit on spools
These tools I seen a kid drool
Like school yo I got infinite fuel
Crews have a pistol duel
Peace is a futile gesture
To dot a lecture about Pot

I started listening to these on UA-cam.
The music plays the band❤️🔥💯🎈
It happens to every dead head.. the honesty in the music.. I can't put my finger on it. No other band in the world can do it.
Share this music and that emotion to as many others as you can. We all need it.

Was never impressed with them too much , until watching Netflix "long strange trip".
I'm sorry! Theirs just no other reiteration of the Dead that could closely satisfy my soul!
