Once again, thanks for coming back to this book to wrap the story up! What a busybody Mountbatten was! He was so eager to feel an important part of things!
Still loving this book, so thank you for continuing. Dickie was a meddler 2:30 and not always for the good of others. Looking forward (I think) to the Ireland episode next week.
I don't know what chapter we are on, but I wonder if I will ever understand this man. In this chapter I have to say I felt for him. He had by this time in his life had real life experiences that his knowledge could be vital to any government. Sometimes the older person in the room has a better insight on the situation. Thank you so much for continuing to read this book. Boy do I sound old lol
Cheere Denise this has been so fascinating as in the 1970’s l was in my 20’s so as a Brit the political names are all very familiar to me. Considering what we know about Mountbatten his comments about “thinking of Charles more than he thought” it is disturbing! 🤔
Weird, I was born in USSR, lived my adult life in South Africa and yet I know more about British politics of the 1930s- 1960s than I do about any other....I think a book about the Mitford Sisters or Oswald Moseley would be a nice read.
Thank you for giving us this story! I’ve learned lots! My favorite royals are the Tudor era from Henry vii to Elizabeth I, but any thing about the royals I’m all for. Thank you again!
Ireland contains a bombshell of a different kind! I wonder if Dickie managed to get back the Prince of Wales crown that David took with him. They made a new one for Charles in '69 with a gilded ping pong ball on top.
Thank you Cheere Denise, I love Mountbatten Sundays! Please consider doing a read aloud / review on Lisa Marie Presley memoir FROM HERE TO THE GREAT UNKNOWN.
I believe if we were to look up the word "opportunist" in the dictionary, Dickie Mountbattens picture would be right there. He just seems like such an ordinary man and it baffles me to no end how he climbed the social ladder to such extraordinary heights.
Yay! So glad this has dropped, good way to round off my weekend. This is a fab book, as is the Ethel book and the housekeeper’s one- SO interesting and enlightening! Time for a meet and greet in 🇬🇧🙏🏼
Thank you for your book reviews which I really enjoy and I hope that you won’t mind my mentioning a gentleman from the UK who I think that you would enjoy listening to. “They Got Away With Murder”. Well worth listening to imo. He investigates mainly UK mysteries plus American m urd ers, I have no connection with this gentleman and I know that some contributors get annoyed if anyone else is mentioned 😳 but I don’t think/hope you will if you have time ❤️
Thank you for coming back to the Mountbatten book. Also, I really like your news review.
I am so pleased that you have taken up the Mountbattern book I really enjoyed the last 2 chapters

I know Meghan and Harry is where the money lies, but, honestly I am here for the Kennedy's and now the Mountbattens. Thank you for the upload
Her late Majesty was unfortunately probably used to people using a connection to her for their own ends.
Thanks for continuing this book!
Another great chapter!
I have enjoyed this book. Whatever else we may think of Mountbatten, what a life he lived!
And he certainly didn’t deserve getting b l ow n up ☹️
Hell yeah Mountbatten's back
I agree with your summation Cheere. Thank you for bringing him back; as you know, the end is nigh.
OMG, can you imagine having all kinds of family members you have to worry about talking bs and writing books.
