The mechanic that has - twice - replaced my hybrid battery, warned me of junk that gathers around the moon/sun roof and around the hood and trunk. It's easy to clean. This mechanic used to be a mechanic at a Toyota dealership. This video brought that to light.
Tip for the mechanic, it’s the NIMH battery which causes isolation fault 90 percent of the time and 2nd pool of water in the car does not cause isolation fault because condensation is pure water and is not conductive. I see you have a megaohm meter use it because the fluid from NiMH is too clear to see plus they leak at the bottom where the little bolt goes into.
So the water that leaked in made the sound insulation rot and block the drain and the water also conducted (ice doesn't conduct) to short out the high voltage battery? I think I got it.
I have a question, is it possible to connect this battery in the Lexus RX 400H to a solar panel placed on the rooftop of the car so that it can charge while driving or parked directly to the sun
Thank you! Had same problem on my 2008 Toyota Highlander Hybrid. Is it possible to get access to the drain plug without removing the entire battery system? I found that blowing a fan through the hybrid battery vents cleared the trouble code but am concerned that it will come back again. Will check for tailgate leaks as a result of you video.
Wow, thanks for this video. Just by curiosity, may I ask you what the whole fix costed the customer? I'm asking because I'm in Switzerland and repairs like that easy cost thousands of Swiss Franks..
Doing this repair at my shop right now. I'm charging 6 hours labor plus $300 parts. I'm replacing the relay box because it has been sitting in water and has quite a bit of corrosion. Depending on your local labor rate it would be about $700 to $1000. It's also important to check the battery computer and sensing harness for corrosion, if those are bad that's another $800 in parts.
Hi. Got a same car RX400h and there is a code P0AA6 Isolation Fault. Removed the battery packs and there’s no water ingress so everything is neat and clean. What can be the next step to follow? Plz
What make and model are the individual cells? I have a 2010 Lexus RX450h which I believe uses a Panasonic Battery, do they use the same calls? and where can they be ordered from?
Will you please explain the numbering of the packs in RX450h . Someone told me it should be like RX400h where the middle one is first then it is the passenger side then driver side. Will you please comment on that? Thanks!
Hi, Just wanted to know exactly where the drain plug is located under the car as I could not see it, does anything need removing from under the car to get to it? Wanted to locate it and check if the filter is blocked as a precaution.
It is under the battery and the battery would need to be removed. Go to the 2:20 mark and you can see them. Cannot really clean them without the removal of the battery.
hi and thanks for your nice video. i have 2006 Lexus rx400h . i had code like hybrid battery check and vcs . which is said wet battery. i open battery and clean everything even battery unit free of collagen. and after put in on the car . i try to delete codes with obd 2 i get it from amazon . but i cant and i still have codes like 03190 - p3193- c1259 - c1310- p0ac2, pls let me know what do you think . do i have to go and buy second hand battery or to someone can delete my code? thanks for your time and answer in advance.
On this one yes, we cleaned out the drains in the belly of the car and found the source of the water intrusion and it was all good. In this one, there was water leaking in from some improperly sealed welds in the left rear wheel well area.
Hi Dan could you please tell me the function of that orange pigtail cable coming out of the car floor at 2:24? I know the other two are obviously the connectors. Thanks!
Salman, depending on the application, the best way to determine is to look at a hybrid battery wiring diagram for your application and look for the color wire that corresponds with the battery voltage sense wire for the V-Block you are looking for.
Hi Roman. This is also indicating a high voltage leak into the chassis ground. It would need to be isolated and tested with an insulation tester. Possible HV battery, convertor/invertor, or AC compressor. It is hard to tell without more information and testing.
I have a 2011 Nissan Altima Hybrid and am getting a P0AA6 code along with a U0293, B2562, and B261E codes. so far I have changed the brake switch and the 12 volt battery. I haven't taken it apart yet as I'm trying to limit my options before going through all of that. Should I check all my grounds within the car and fuses first? Is there an easier way to limit where the problem could be?
Sounds like you have an isolation fault in the ac compressor motor causing the P0AA6. That would need further testing with an insulation tester and proper safety equipment. The B2562 could also be the brake sensor sub-harness or a faulty IPDM. Search for TSB NTB10-139.
@@DanGarlock thank you for the reply. could this still be the problem is my car isnt consistent with the no start? So far i changed my abs fuses in the engine bay and it lasted 4 days without a problem. After a couple times and a few days, its lasting another 4 days before having the problem again. Very inconsistent.
@@1978chevymannova You will run the ICE (internal combustion engine) more resulting in poorer fuel economy and less performance. hi thanks for your nice video,
i dry and clean everything and put it back ,
but my rx400h 2006 would not start ( ready).
what do i have to do?
So the water that leaked in made the sound insulation rot and block the drain and the water also conducted (ice doesn't conduct) to short out the high voltage battery? I think I got it.
Exactly. It was an intermittent issue. When the ambient temp got warm enough in the vehicle, the ice would melt and then the fault would occur.
I have a question, is it possible to connect this battery in the Lexus RX 400H to a solar panel placed on the rooftop of the car so that it can charge while driving or parked directly to the sun

You might be able to gain access under the vehicle to pull it out. Putting it back in may be an issue.

I might be wrong but rubber gloves does not protect from HV, can u clarify that please? thank u
Could we replaced the damaged batteries "cells" by cells takes from rav4 hybrid
Please reply
What do Lexus / Toyota say about it. Intresting. How mamy others are out there like this.

Please give me the answer. Is 2006 Lexus 400h hybrid cells battery different from Prius cells???
Yes they are.
Hi Dan could you please tell me the function of that orange pigtail cable coming out of the car floor at 2:24? I know the other two are obviously the connectors. Thanks!
The two with the eyelets run to the system main relays. The pigtail runs to a bunch of different components like the battery fan control, ecu etc.
