The unfortunate thing about K2 is really that the majority of people who die, die on the way down. I don't think it is sad though. They died doing what they loved to do. We're all going to go. I hope we all die doing what we love, when the time comes! RIP!

I don’t know, being swept by an avalanche must be painful. Unless he died right away, from the impact. If not, he felt several bones break, while struggling to breathe.

It's crazy that he free climbs yet that wasn't what got him in the end. I think that's the saddest part about his death. He does such a dangerous sport and turns it up to 100 by free climbing yet the simple act of walking on the wrong place at the wrong time was fatal. It feels so unjust.
There's a mountain in my home country, in fact there are many but that particular mountain isn't even very high but it's bare and treacherous because it's in a limestone section of the Alps. Every year one or two people die climbing this damn thing but people keep going up there. I don't get it, I absolutely hate limestone, the only material I'm willing to climb is granite and mostly I just hike and I get more than enough beautiful views, awe inspiring moments and just time in nature out of it, why all these risks.
You cannot see the K2 summit from the bottleneck, traverse under the great serac, nor to left of the great serac until you get above the serac in elevation -so I dont know how the recounting of the story of Jensen, Bender seeing the headlamps is possible. This would only be possible from Camp 4 or up on the summit pyramid above the serac.
Fascinating video, thank you. 'Too wreak havoc' is the expression; different from wreck. Of or pertainining to those forces, seen or unseen, thought to have inflicted severe damage on person, place or materials. Additionally, 'bivvowack' is the pronunciation of a one man low-pro tent; aura not aurora, energy surrounding a place or reputation versus an astrological descriptor; hope this is helpful.

Strange how majority of free solo climbers that have died while climbing were using rope/gear .
First vegan to summit all 8K’ mountains- wow! had no idea they kept track of that sort of thing.
I’m not insensitive to this, but are there categories for being first with other diets?
The unfortunate thing about K2 is really that the majority of people who die, die on the way down. I don't think it is sad though. They died doing what they loved to do. We're all going to go. I hope we all die doing what we love, when the time comes! RIP!
They died doing what killed them.
@@michaelgallagher3640 - BOTH statements are true Michael; they died doing what they loved & they died doing what killed them! Reminds me of the guy in the news, years ago, who died while having sex! He died doing something he loved & he died doing what killed him! RIP to all!
I don’t know, being swept by an avalanche must be painful. Unless he died right away, from the impact. If not, he felt several bones break, while struggling to breathe.
They sure loved being crushed by avalanches, falling rocks, flying off the mountain, freezing to death in their own urine and faeces or delirious from altitude sickness and blind from swollen brain.
@@kohinarec6580 You're love dying of colon cancer or car crash. Everybody dies dude and this is not even top 100
New sub 😊
Thank you!
I don't need a journal to attest to their feelings. I live in San Diego. I climbed the hardest and highest summit. (El Cajon summit) when I reached the top I, too, was unenthused. The best thing I saw was the return to the parking lot.
I just can't watch the no-ropes guys. Insane.
Instagram gives me the ability to travel through time and space from the comfort of my living room chair. I'm a world traveler, but haven't seen one percent of 100 available. With Instagram, my horizons, expand exponentially.
7 attempts, 7 failures. Time to die.
What is the location at 41:25?
I struggle to find these tragic. People go teasing death for the hell of it. But the reaper has the last laugh.
These videos are my assurance that no matter how much I may want to climb a mountain, I would probably end up on one of these misadventure youtube lists. I'd rather pass on falling into a crevasse with zero chance of being saved, breaking my legs and freezing to death. No thanks! now if you would excuse me, my dinner is at the door😅
I think 1 out of every 100 dies on Everest and 1 out of every 4 people die on K2 BUT I read this fact in the youtube comments section so its probably wrong lol
Matterhorn?
Surprised someone hasn't accused you of being a grammar n*zi yet. Mispronunciation and wrong words irritate me to no end.
😮hy so are we sisters I love tea 🫖 and videos to watch every night 😅 but oh my god the mountains 🏔️ are pretty but so dangerous with r with out ice 🧊 in any country Rip to all climbers 🧗♂️ that passed 😢 and gold to who made it amen 🙏. From Philadelphia 🇺🇸
Forget the cold, hunger, being tired; I would never want to be in a position to have to choose to save myself or “try” to save my friend and myself. I’m sure self preservation kicks in but what an awful decision to have to make.
I will never accidentally fall from a climb because I will never climb and I am perfectly happy with this
I'm watching this, as I prepared to run a 50km while thinking 🤔 is not the same.
Life is about taking risk, not risking your life.
