  • This video captures different stages of the hakeme slip decoration process.
The first portion of this video goes over throwing a pencil cup and small salsa bowl. A light slip is added to the exterior of the cup and interior of the bowl. Both pots are thrown with Laguna Clay B3 Brown and decorated with Bmix clay. These are cone 5 clays and will be oxidation fired in a Skutt KM-1223 electric kiln.
The second portion of the video covers trimming and sgraffito techniques. One of the cups has a series of vertical scratches incised into the side. The hope is that the exposed clay underneath will create a strong contrast in color and value when compared to the glazed surface. I also briefly mention how I used a gingko leaf to make a negative space mask on two of the pots.
    Thanks for taking a look!
