So often I watch these video's with absolutely no showing of the finished glazed piece, well done on showing the end result. Also, very helpful tutorial.
Easily among the most tasteful pottery i’ve seen on youtube, plus i appreciate that you showed your work post-kiln which is a rarity. Thank you! Subscribed
I absolutely love your work, especially this slip technique. I have thrown pottery 25 years ago and quit as life got in the way. I was pretty good but as I just got back into it, I found I could not do anything. Thanks to your videos, it’s starting to come back. Thank you sooooo very much.
Thank you very much. This was very detailed. I think all of them turned out quite beautiful. Thank you for sharing with us. Looking forward to trying this technique.
Thanks for the demos! I also teach, and my demos often go sideways, but people still get the message, and they appreciate seeing how to recover, or that everyone has challenges sometimes. I like the fundamentals of all the techniques, and I’ll test some variations myself!
The screw type are called en-fit syringes. I recycle them after my son is done. He has a feeding tube and that’s what we use. I love this idea. They are beautiful
Well I've just finished drippy slipping two mugs. A lot of work mixing up white/black/purple /crimson slips but it's an experiment. Don't know how I'm going to trim the bottoms. Biggest problem was the syringe. Instead of a consistent flow mine rather squirted and stalled. Maybe a little glycol on the rubber plunger would have helped. Thanks for sharing your work. Raoul
Do you clean your splash pan before filming?! Or are you just really tidy? Or, worse, am I really messy? Good video btw, going to try this on a big ‘ol vase...
I always clean up after I'm done throwing! It's so much easier to clean while the clay is liquid, and it makes throwing the next day a far more enjoyable process
I'm curious about the individual dots one, if you left a couple of 'empty' dot spots at the beginning and filled them in at the end, you could sort of blend the two ends of the line together... in my head it makes sense but I'm not sure how it would work out in practice.
Thanks so much for sharing your techniques. Absolutely love all of your work. Do you measure the viscosity of your slip, or is it just by feel through experience? 💜💜💜
I don't, it's just based on feel. There's a fairly wide range of viscosities that will work for the technique, so it doesn't have to be that precise. The thing to avoid is having two slips of significantly different viscosities in the same application.
Great! I love all the slip tumblers you do. Very beautiful. Question - it looks like you don't actually trim the bottom? You leave the piece attached to the bat while you're applying the slip & I don't think you can turn it upside down to trim because you risk the slip flowing the wrong way. Or do you just simply wait until the slip has dryed enough and then trim the bottom? Thanks in advance!
More great tips. I will be trying these. Thanks. What type of camera do you use? I noticed the depth of field was nicely done to blur out the background.
It helps, but the slip is still a bit too thick to get all the bubbles out even in a vacuum chamber. I'm considering a vacuum chamber on a vibration plate
Have you started making/selling the magma mugs yet? I've been wanting a pair of the giant size with handles, but after months upon months of waiting and checking your website, I've given up hope... 😔
I've been selling them for around 4 months now but only when the shop is open. The best way to be notified is to be on the mailing list, but I put the specific time and date in the shop FAQ ahead of time too.
Love your channel. This video highlights a small problem though. You're very soft-spoken, and when you tap repeatedly while talking, it's difficult to hear you. If you do this in future videos, please don't talk while tapping, or else do a voice-over (which would have the benefit of muting the banging noise also). Keep up the good work, your style is eye-catching and you have good content.

Love the results! Thank you for your tutorial.
I really appreciate you taking the time to show your process. Fascinating and unique!
This is a really cool project
I absolutely love the effects that you got on the cup you did right before the swirly cup.

Such a helpful video. I've tried your technique a couple of times but haven't gotten it right. I believe after watching this I'll get it! Thanks!

Excellent video as always. I love the details you provide. 👍
Thanks again!
Great video Joe! Thankyou for sharing. Your videos have helped me alot 🙌
Great to hear!

Beautiful!!!
So informative. Thank you! ❤
Veel ideeën opgedaan. Bedankt

Wow so nice!
Thank you
"Welp... I don't like it." Hahaha. Really good level of detail, super helpful.

Superb. Thank you.
Hi how do you make the black slip? Stunning work!!!!

Like the process. 😊
Have you tried running a toothpick gently up or down the sides to see how that comes out?
More great tips. I will be trying these. Thanks.
What type of camera do you use? I noticed the depth of field was nicely done to blur out the background.
I use a Sony a6400 and a Sigma 30mm f1.4 lens (although generally at f3.5).
@@OldForgeCreations Thank you so much. I will look for these. 🙂
Thank you !!!
Did you feel differently about the drippy slip over the swirly mug after it was fired?
I do. I like it more now it's fired, but I'm still not a huge fan of the combination of patterns
You are amazing 👏❤
Thank u so much
Would putting slip in vacuum chamber just before application help with the bubble situation?
It helps, but the slip is still a bit too thick to get all the bubbles out even in a vacuum chamber. I'm considering a vacuum chamber on a vibration plate
@@OldForgeCreations how about holding the syringe pointing down, bubbles will travel to top and away from the nozzle.
Which tipe of colour you use? I would like to try it,I love it
Superb 👍👍👍
I'm guessing that if you would have rotated the syringe while pouring you would have got more "vertical" distortion.
I’m assuming you bisque after the slip/mug has dried. Do you then glaze or is the slip the color?
I glaze in clear for these

@@OldForgeCreations I signed up for the mailing list. Months ago. 🤔 never received one email...
I'm sending them out, so either they're being filtered into your spam or you didn't enter your email address correctly.
@@OldForgeCreations I'll add it again. I just messaged you through your website....
Which black Mason stain do you use in the black slip? (Name -number? )

Do we have your drippy slip recipe? Cone 6?
Old video mate, but what clay is that?
