The screw type are called en-fit syringes. I recycle them after my son is done. He has a feeding tube and that’s what we use. I love this idea. They are beautiful

Great! I love all the slip tumblers you do. Very beautiful. Question - it looks like you don't actually trim the bottom? You leave the piece attached to the bat while you're applying the slip & I don't think you can turn it upside down to trim because you risk the slip flowing the wrong way. Or do you just simply wait until the slip has dryed enough and then trim the bottom? Thanks in advance!
Do you clean your splash pan before filming?! Or are you just really tidy? Or, worse, am I really messy? Good video btw, going to try this on a big ‘ol vase...
I always clean up after I'm done throwing! It's so much easier to clean while the clay is liquid, and it makes throwing the next day a far more enjoyable process

Thanks so much for sharing your techniques. Absolutely love all of your work. Do you measure the viscosity of your slip, or is it just by feel through experience? 💜💜💜
I don't, it's just based on feel. There's a fairly wide range of viscosities that will work for the technique, so it doesn't have to be that precise. The thing to avoid is having two slips of significantly different viscosities in the same application.
I'm curious about the individual dots one, if you left a couple of 'empty' dot spots at the beginning and filled them in at the end, you could sort of blend the two ends of the line together... in my head it makes sense but I'm not sure how it would work out in practice.
Well I've just finished drippy slipping two mugs. A lot of work mixing up white/black/purple /crimson slips but it's an experiment. Don't know how I'm going to trim the bottoms. Biggest problem was the syringe. Instead of a consistent flow mine rather squirted and stalled. Maybe a little glycol on the rubber plunger would have helped. Thanks for sharing your work. Raoul

Love your channel. This video highlights a small problem though. You're very soft-spoken, and when you tap repeatedly while talking, it's difficult to hear you. If you do this in future videos, please don't talk while tapping, or else do a voice-over (which would have the benefit of muting the banging noise also). Keep up the good work, your style is eye-catching and you have good content.

I'm guessing that if you would have rotated the syringe while pouring you would have got more "vertical" distortion.
Did you feel differently about the drippy slip over the swirly mug after it was fired?
I do. I like it more now it's fired, but I'm still not a huge fan of the combination of patterns

I’m assuming you bisque after the slip/mug has dried. Do you then glaze or is the slip the color?
I glaze in clear for these
Would putting slip in vacuum chamber just before application help with the bubble situation?
It helps, but the slip is still a bit too thick to get all the bubbles out even in a vacuum chamber. I'm considering a vacuum chamber on a vibration plate
@@OldForgeCreations how about holding the syringe pointing down, bubbles will travel to top and away from the nozzle.
Have you started making/selling the magma mugs yet? I've been wanting a pair of the giant size with handles, but after months upon months of waiting and checking your website, I've given up hope... 😔

What type of camera do you use? I noticed the depth of field was nicely done to blur out the background.
I use a Sony a6400 and a Sigma 30mm f1.4 lens (although generally at f3.5).
