Alpha, she is a straight-up psychopath, there’s no way you can reason with her. She’s terrifying, and Samantha Morton is absolutely outstanding in the role. This episode is just pure gold.
Negan was trying to rebuild a civilization. Yeah a cruel one and with not morally accepted ways but still you would be at least safe and fed and live another day, while Alpha on other hand just killing everyone and living feral life she is so much worse than all saviours combined yeah even Simon
Negan and the saviors enslaved and murdered at least one member of any group they came across and if an offering was low at any time after that, then more people from that group would be killed. It wasn't just the other communities either, the workers at the sanctuary were in constant fear of their lives and were killed if they didn't produce enough in the horrific living conditions they were in. Like that guy Dwight witnessed getting beaten to death who had a wife, son and newborn on the way. As well as others who had their faces burned by the iron or the doctor who was thrown in the fire. The workers were denied from leaving the sanctuary and taking their own chances like when Negan sent Dwight after Gordon who chose death instead of wanting to continue living under Negan's dictatorship. The workers and Negan's wives were happy to finally be free after all out war like when that one worker told Rick he hoped Negan was suffering. So as evil as Alpha and the whisperers are, Negan's dictatorship and psychopath saviors had to end.
To this day, that Flashback scene in the barn is IMO one of the BEST & most heartbreakingly well done scenes in the ENTIRE SERIES! The score, the voice over, the shots, the story being told, etc. BEAUTIFULLY TRAGIC 😭
They do a good job of telling you who is going to die throughout the episode with every relationship they show. Happy starts never end well that is never more prevalent than here.
Shoutout to DJ & the highway men, Tammy Rose & everyone in the barn who fought to the very end ❤! DJ was such a great addition & reformed Savior who used to be one of Negan’s LT’s up there with Laura (neck tattoo blonde on the council).
I’ve been waiting for this one ever since I stumbled upon your channel. Carol can’t catch a break when it comes to kids which is just depressing. Season 10 is abt to be lit. Also I love when Daryl sees beta again b/c you can tell that Daryl’s pissed that Beta survived that fall and he’s probably wishing that he had checked the elevator b4 He, Connie, Lydia, Henry and Dog left for Alexandria.
I remember being so confused about the timeline this whole episode. I got spoiled... So I knew the spikes were coming, but they spoiled the wrong names, so I was still surprised, but very angry.
Lost a lot of good people in this episode. But Henry's death was the hardest not only because Carol lost another child, but it robbed Lydia happiness with him after starting a new beginning.
I think (if no one else mentioned it....) That with 'Negan' ya get what you see. He spells it out... with 'Alpha' (love Samantha Morton in this role) You don't what's going to happen.
as a side note... (prior to knowing/ understanding) when this was first airing, this is the season I got mad at TWD and started to only watch sporadically... and to be honest, I've never finished the series in full... I stopped watching during the Covid episodes.

I like hearing your thoughts throughout the episode of what you THINK will happen but it would be great to hear your thoughts on what actually did happen.
