Yeah but the difference is Nintendo is releasing the better version of these games to the switch. U gain nothing from playing these games on the original release console.
@israeltrevino4301 has nothing to do with it. Twilight princess is more expensive on gamecube than wii and the wii was a technically better system. The wii u has already gotten a bump on some games. A game you wouldn't think. Mario and sonic 2016 Olympics is over 100.
@@israeltrevino4301 and there are some games believe it or not are superior on the wii u because of the tablet implementation that you cant do with switch because you can't go handheld and TV at same time
The one advantage the Wii U has over the Switch is the fact some of the games were designed around the Wii U Gamepad's features in mind and play better because of it. I could not imagine playing Zombi U, Pikmin 3 or Fatal Frame Maiden of Black Water without the Wii U Gamepad and its dual screen features. It just feels like an inferior experience to me.
Just imagine how i feel, i bought the wii u new back in July 2015 and all of the 1st party Nintendo games for $60 a pop 😢. Every single wii u game i paid full price for back then i had to re purchase for the switch 😭.
If there's one thing that's certain, Nintendo collector's are a plenty. And they pay $$$ if they have nostalgia for the console. But the Wii U is a little different. It's is the worst selling Nintendo console. It has a sad story. And those things alone will drive collectors. It won't matter that the games are on Switch.
I do find it ironic and funny that you made this video right as I'm about to finish collecting the full Wii U set. I collected for the console because it was the first console that was mine and mine only without my two brothers constantly playing it over me. It was a console that gave me a lot of nostalgic memories and helped me grow friendships during high school that I wouldn't have otherwise thanks to games like Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart 8, Splatoon, etc. While most of the best games are on other consoles or ported to the Switch, there's something about using the gamepad and experiencing those games through the Wii U that feels more special. I mostly stopped collecting during the eShop closure FOMO hype and took a break, but I'm glad they dropped significantly so I could afford some of the more hard-to-find and expensive games that I still needed. You don't need to collect a console full set because of its potential financial value. You should collect for it because it's a console you enjoy and love.
There is a rumor going on right now that a guy with glasses called Scott Wozniak is looking for you because of what you said about Wii U Games being a waste of time to collect 😂
This is completely ignoring the pricing. Wii U first party games usually go for $10-15, while Switch remakes of same games are $60. Its a no brainer to get the original version and avoid paying the Switch tax.
I disagree I love the wii u and prefer it over the switch and one day think the wii u will be like the saturn now and be super expensive. But I get it bc alot of it has been ported.
Wii U is still worth it. Especially the games that make good use of the game pad. Those will be worth to grab as they are the definitive versions of those games. Other than that the rest of the games on the system aren’t the best version to have.
Wii U still has a couple of points in its favor. First one is the Wii U pad which is awesome in some of the games that utilized it well. Games are affordable which make it a easier for people to enter. And just because its best games get ported, it does not diminish those games. I refused to get a few Switch titles based on that i payed full price for versions that came out on Wii U first, like Mario Kart 8, or Super Mario 3d World. No way im paying extra for essentially the same games. Tho there were other titles like Zelda which i got for the Switch first since they came out at the same time and later got for the Wii U on a clearence sale from game stop a few years ago.
Hey Y2K, the Wii U is probably my least favorite console. Most of the good games were ported to the Switch. But what makes me not be able stand it is the GamePad. It's not portable, it's big, and has a small screen, I wish that thing was purely an accessory. I feel it kinda ruined things but with the Switch, you can play it much more practically.
Wii u has the nicest feeling discs, the edges are rounded and are genius. Worth having the games just for that😂. And the games that use the tv and game pad are the best way to play👍🍺😎.
I'm glad I cashed out on Xenoblade Chronicles X and Zelda Windwaker HD last summer. I figured eventually the former was getting ported and while Windwaker hasn't been announced yet, it's one of the worst kept secrets in gaming that a Switch/2 version exists and inevitable.
There are still a handful of legitimately decent ports with actual Wii U functionality that I would argue are much more fun to play on Wii U, at least once. Deus Ex was actually very entertaining with the GamePad additions, Splinter Cell used it, CoD BO2, etc. It's weird because 3rd party games seemed to use the actual unique bits of the system better and more frequently than Nintendo themselves. Just because the games got ported to Switch, doesn't necessarily make it the best place to play them.
As a collector I see very very few Wii U games in the spots I search. On that basis I predict that one day they will be collectable and some games will be expensive. That’s why I’m keeping hold of my sealed Wii U Mario Bros. I only have a regular Wii with a few games. PS stuff is what I really go for.
I sold half of my Wii U collection over a month ago since most can be played on Switch, only kept some exclusives and ones I had fond memories of like Super Mario Maker since its the only one in its series that uses the amiibo costume so I will never sell that. And Xenoblade X I still keep cause I had fond memories of that there but I plan to get it on Switch so we will see if anything changes from 2 to 1 screens to be played. Two different experiences.
Fortunately, the then Wii U exclusive Xenoblade Chronicles X is finally coming to the more powerful Nintendo Switch. In addition, it will be a launch title for Nintendo’s proposed Super Switch. And I know people often refer to the Switch successor as the Switch 2 but I believe Sony has a supposed copyright on naming PlayStation successors with numbers. Plus calling it the Super Switch sounds cooler and a throwback to the mighty Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). Get where I’m going with this?
Ports are the new norm. And not just for Nintendo. Everything on the Switch will eventually also be ported to a newer Nintendo Console. The biggest reason for playing a ported game on its original console is if the console had something unique to it that was lost during the porting process. The Wii U, DS and 3Ds fall into this category in my opinion untill another console comes along that uses 2 screens.
And every single zelda game that came out on 2 systems. It is the older system that ends up being the one with the value. So breath of the wild mark my words will be more expensive on wii u in a few years
That's true for a US collection but only the Japanese wii u has the original xeno x without the western censorship so that's worth it enough to me. Too bad switch is based on the censored version in all regions... 😢
I think Wii U will be mostly forgotten once both Zelda HD remakes port over. That’s the only thing still giving it relevance though there are some good exclusive titles beyond that such as Zombie U. But the real value of Wii U was the eShop, which is no longer an option. I’ve got so many of the key titles from n64, SNES, Wii, TG16, and GBA - it’s mine and free (no paid subscription). And that’s why I feel I’ll always keep my Wii U. And it’s the definitive way to experience Fatal Frame Maiden of Black Water which is also an eShop exclusive.
Theyve been porting alot of the stuff from wii U to the switch for years now. Anyone who got caught up in the buy for the wii U honesty is kinda dumb When from year 1 ports happened. Even more so after we found out due to Nintendo cheaping out the wii u will end up dying super fast
The Wii U was honestly great. My brother got a refurbished model around 2014 from Nintendo directly. We had a blast playing Mario 3D land, New Super Mario/luigi U, and playing the Zelda Remasters. I only have one to play these Zelda games. I’m so glad most heavy hitters got ported to switch.
Absolutely agree!!!!!!! Very few Wii U games are worth buying considering almost all the good games have been ported to the switch. I think Game and Wario and the Zelda games, and Mario Maker are the only games I’d say are worth playing on the system
Depends on why you are collecting... Waste? Meaning the games were bad? I think we all know that not to be true. Because literally every good one has been ported over to the Switch. Why? Because the Switch gives those games a chance to sell more. That's a unique console in history where probably 95% of it's library are on other consoles including the first party Nintendo ones. Potential for high dollar value in 10yrs? Extremely high. Because of all of the people who 'abandon' it now and toss the games/console because it's not worth much in 2025. But I've lived long enough to see other 'junk' consoles and titles become collectors items... Go try and source a good condition Virtual Boy... add in the fact that the majority of the titles are actually good and fun to play? Makes a secret sauce. Yes you can play ports on Switch... but NOT in the same exact way. You can’t play the games on TV and use the Switch as a second screen like you can with the WiiU. So there will be a desire. Will it rival some other games where they are knocking on $200? probably not. But I can see a good amount going for $100 and up in 2035 (which btw is when those 'kids' who had a WiiU will have the Nostalgia kick)
Precisely…. We really don’t know yet… plus this is the low point for this console at the 10 year mark. If it’s like this in 2033, then yeah this would be correct. But I think it’s far too pre-mature to say yet. Plus we JUST saw with the piglet’s big game situation that a viral UA-cam video and social media trend can explode a collectible over night.
What a terrible take. This entire system is not worth collecting for because Xenoblade chronicles x is finally being ported? Lol. You should take a break from UA-cam and the internet in general. 🤡
They said the same thing with Virtua Boy, Jaguar, CD-i, 3DO, 32X, N-gage and Dreamcast but overtime collectors still desire them.
Yeah but the difference is Nintendo is releasing the better version of these games to the switch. U gain nothing from playing these games on the original release console.

And Caroline on the wii is expensive
Oh Oh not to mention that there is some features that the Wii U have that the Nintendo Switch doesn't have due to the Tablet feature
@@israeltrevino4301 and there are some games believe it or not are superior on the wii u because of the tablet implementation that you cant do with switch because you can't go handheld and TV at same time

still to this day, no zombiu to the switch because Ubisoft doesn't want spend the resources.
Just imagine how i feel, i bought the wii u new back in July 2015 and all of the 1st party Nintendo games for $60 a pop 😢. Every single wii u game i paid full price for back then i had to re purchase for the switch 😭.

Hahaha!
Gaming off the Grid had to retract their Wii U predictions.
The Wii U is still awesome.
The wii u is budget friendly unlike the switch

The wii u will always be worth collecting as long as the wind, Waker, HD and twilight princess HD are not available on the switch! Heart
Knock on wood
yet

Go to a video game store and see how expensive the popular WII U games are.
Wii U's are also breaking down too, which makes the games unplayable. another thing there library is moving to the switch too.
the 2012-13 models are th ones breaking down and all are on the platinum models which admittedly aren't
I disagree I love the wii u and prefer it over the switch and one day think the wii u will be like the saturn now and be super expensive. But I get it bc alot of it has been ported.
I recently sold off my gamecube collection and my wii console, I kept the wii u and wii games cause I really like the on rail shooters the wii had 👍🏻
Wii U is still worth it. Especially the games that make good use of the game pad. Those will be worth to grab as they are the definitive versions of those games. Other than that the rest of the games on the system aren’t the best version to have.

let alone to have little extra content
I would rather play a Wii U than a Nintendo Switch any day.
That's a severe case of cope you have there...
It would have to be more significant to move Wii U games to the switch, nobody owns a Wii U.
I agree. And I sold mine recently. Saw no value in keeping it.

Nintendo has an obligation to make Paper Mario, Smash and Mario Kart for each consol
8 Deluxe is a port of Mario Kart 8 for Wii U.

the wii is what u should be talking about lol
They will become very collectible in due time!
Guess its time for me to open my sealed copy of Xenoblade Chronicles X and play it.

@@MrDream-zm1pw Well, I did buy it to play it and it looks to have peaked in the $90 range for a short time, so nothing substantial.
