    Thanks for putting this video out. With an 80/20 road/dirt intention this doesn't seem the best tire for my needs. I appreciate your honesty Ben~

    I had these tires on my KLR650 for my first two BDR rides and were great for everything but tarmac. I actually got the wobbles at times above 55mph. Shinko 244 "golden boys", are 100% better for all situations. That's all I ride now.

    I literally just got back from a road ride in this 95F humid day. I have the same tires on my 2012 KLR and I've liked them for what they are. $100 can't complain, however I've noticed the front is cupping badly (some 2 up riding as well). I think I've got about 2300 miles on them. I kind of want to try one of the motoz verities but for the price its hard to beat these. Offroad, they do great, similar to a d606 I would say. I've ridden the bike in the sandpit, mud, rocks, powerline trails, dirt roads, with the tusk tires and they've been great. The tires to get more stable over time. I had the bike up to 85 today, where when they were newer it would wobble a bit at 80mph because of the tall knobs...but again, it's a knobby so it's not designed for high speeds. price/performance of these tires is excellent

    I just experienced this with a set of new Shinko 805s, which I love in the dirt. Over 80 on grooved highway with a cross wind... death wobble. Yuck, couldn't keep up with the GSs on the highway.

    I like the rear D-sport rear on my KLR but I quickly swapped the front out for a TKC 80.

    I have 800 miles on my new ‘22 KLR and I’m trying to decide on these Tusk D-Sport knobby tires of the Dunlop Trailmax mission , I bought my KLR for mostly off-road riding but find myself riding my KLR everywhere. Cost of the D-Sport is fantastic , makes me wish I had a second set of KLR wheels to swap out at random 🤔😜

    I’ve got 4000 miles on mine so far it’s all highway and interstate miles I love these tires

      I also got 7000 miles out of my stock tires so I guess I’m just used to riding on shitty tires but for 100 bucks you can’t beat them

    I was forced to say goodbye to my 08 KLR to pay for a new roof on my house. That new windshield would only be useful to stop corn cobs from hitting you in the balls in case you run off the road into a cornfield. I ran nothing but Kenda 270s they lasted a good while on the road being a harder rubber compound

      That sucks, I'm sorry! Ha ha yeah it's garbage. I ran K270s on my gen 2 and really liked them as well!

    I have 7000 miles on my rear e 07+ and it's almost done.front still good.HEAVY tires though, about 3 times what the factory dunlops weigh.

    i replaced a D606 with a D Sport and I would say the D Sport has the same strengths and weaknesses as the D606 but at a much cheaper price. Sort of a bear to spoon on but so was the D606.

    I put motoz rallz tires on my KLX300 and above 60 mph they seem to want to go slightly left or right on the highway...kinda difficult to keep them in a straight line. They are great offroad though. Still running the stock pirelli rally str on the tenere 700, been impressed with them in everything except mud. Have a set of bridgestone battlax adventure cross waiting to be installed on the t7.

    I have them on my wr250r and absolutely love them..and you think that tank you call a klr650 get squarely on loose gravel?? They are great on the highway

  • @armadilllo
    @armadilllo 11 місяців тому

    I have them on my DR650, soooooo f'n loud on the street even with ear plugs and scary on rain grooves, yes they are balanced and I've played with different pressures. Okay off road. Stock tires way better on the road, I don't know why all the fuss over them and why they call them death wings, never had a problem with them.

    Thanks for the update i am only about 1200 miles on the factory tire and been looking at getting the tkc80s but i am torn between the continental and the tractionator, at the moment i am mostly hwy back roads paved riding to work every day aprox 13 miles. not sure how well the tractionator does off road i have not seen any reviews on them.

    • @SwankyCatProductions
      @SwankyCatProductions  2 роки тому +2

      I've got the Tractionator Adventures on my Tenere and honestly I think they are almost as good as these, yet they're much better on the road. I think if you were to get in some really nasty stuff these would have an edge but the Tractionators have never let me down.

    So how do you like these tires vs. Say, the kenda 270s that you had on your previous gen KLR which you reviewed and seemed to really like. Thanks! Looking for tires for my Gen 3 at the moment. And as always, thanks for your KLR content!

    • @SwankyCatProductions
      @SwankyCatProductions  2 роки тому +1

      I think the K270s are always a great option. No real downfalls other than the fact they can get a little wobbly at passing speeds on the highway. I think the D-Sports, specifically the front do creat considerably more wobble at lower speeds but I think they also have a slight edge off road. Thanks!!!

    do you ride your bikes equally or the t7 more? How do u decide which one u wanna take off road?

  • @BlackwaterAquatics
    @BlackwaterAquatics 11 місяців тому

    I have the tusk dsport on my xt250 and i got the wobbles after 40mph. But i manage to solve the wobbles and i figure out why it happen in the first place. The Tusk Dsport is a horribly unbalanced tire and soft rubber compound. Just think D606 but more dirt oriented. I had to ride with my body pushing the front end down on tarmac at 40 mph because the wobble made it feel really unsafe. I ended up using 8oz of ride on liquid balancer and the wobble stop, but it still feel sketchy above 55mph. This tire is a strickly street legal dirt bike tire its not ment for commuting on the street. Stick with brand name tires manufacturer because they rend to make tires much more balanced with good QC. People who have good experience with tusk dsport tend to either get a good batch or they are on the heavy side witch pushes the front end of the bike down. Do not get this tires if you want to commute otherwise if you are using it for dirt it is actually amazing.
