Koa Nui 2024 Stage 3

The two day race brings the best paddlers from across the state to compete in a three stage event, sizing up their training program for the big dance, the Moloka'i solo that's 6 weeks out. The final stage of the Koa Nui runs 17 miles across the southeast shore of Oʻahu from Kaupō, Waimānalo to Kālia, Waikīkī. This year brought exciting conditions with 20+mph winds and a stacked field. I ran a road race in Florida back in the late 90’s , early 2000’s. Called the Tour De Pain. Still going on I think. Three races in 24 hours. Friday night ran five miles on the beach. Saturday morning three miles on hard surface. Saturday night one mile sprint. This concept is challenging and fun. Glad to see we are doing this in the Canoes.
