Only one thing kept Gunsmoke from being the perfect series & that was not allowing Matt & Kitty getting married on the last episode and then walking into the Long Branch Saloon, arm in arm, with all their friends smiling and waiting to celebrate the long time coming wedding. That would have been the perfect ending to a perfect western!

Music was interesting and fitting. Started with what seemed to be the prelude to Brooks & Dunns "It's Getting Better All the Time". Then the flute part came in, and I immediately recognized it as an improvisation on the Kataan Folk song played by Captain Picard (Star Trek: Next Generation: episode "Inner Light" - 5th season) on a Ressikan Flute. It's a haunting melody which worked well. The flute was actually played by Jay Chattaway, a talented musician. Nicely done.

I have not heard it as a complete composition with background instruments. Girl I cried through your whole video! I have a lump in my throat now. Bittersweet tune. Well paired. I am friends with my elderly neighbor whom is 70lbs and 86 years old and her children have passed away. She's a pistol. We agree to disagree on politics, we agree to disagree about John Wayne (I told her it is un-American to hate John Wayne movies), we don't agree about Star Trek, but we agree about other westerns, dogs, Elvis and Matt Dillon. Everyday at 5:30 I watch Gunsmoke with her. This weekend is a James Arness marathon . Iam going to make sure she sees this. She won't get it why I'm crying. @GunsmokeForever I don't know if you ever found out or not, but the episode and 1:56 is Kitty Shot, the ep at 2:25 is Cotter's Girl, the ep at 2:55 is Twenty Miles From Dodge, 4:21 is kind of in a frame change but the first part is The Well and the second part is The Wreckers, and 4:40 is ticking me off because I've seen it 25 times at least and I can't remember the name of it right now. If I figure it out, I'll get back with you.
